  1. paul253, according to their agent, Clevland has not made a choice yet, it seems it was just speculation by Gammons. So we might still have Brantley in the system.
  2. Yeah, if you judge him by his performance in the all star game. But if you look at the whole season Uggla has a higher fielding percentage, and RZR. Plus the difference on what their bat brings is tremendous. Although it would take a lot to acquire Uggla, he would be a great addition to the middle of the order.
  3. I think it would take a lot better prospect than Brad Nelson, and I'm not sure that he's an upgrade over Cameron in CF. I'd rather go out and sign Orlando Hudson, or trade for a second baseman or third baseman like Brian Roberts, Dan Uggla, Kevin Kouzmanoff or Adrian Beltre, I think all could be impact players, and could be available this off-season.
  4. Do you really think that Brad Nelson could fetch us David Dejesus?
  5. I really appreciate all that Ben Sheets has done for the Brewers organization, and can't stand when people say that he is not a competitor because he has gotten hurt in key situations. He does not want to be hurt, and I'm sure he feels 5 times worse than any of us do when he has to sit out. Bottom line is that without his outstanding first half, and 200 innings pitched, we wouldn't have been even close to a playoff spot, wouldn't have acquired CC, and would be talking about another disappointing season in Milwaukee, so thank you Ben Sheets. I would love to see him brought back on a one or two year deal, but unless his injury is very serious, I think he will get a long term deal, and sign elsewhere. I will definitely miss seeing him in a Brewers uniform.
  6. Wow, what an original idea! Do the Brewers really deserve to have their fans put paper bags on there heads? Usually this happens to teams that have bad ownership, and horrible losing records, not teams in pennant races. The Brewers went out and traded for the best player available, the payroll is 90 million dollars, they fired the manager w/ 12 games left to try getting someting going. How is that not trying to win, to me it shows that they wanted this thing very much, and were trying anything to get the Brewers in the playoffs. I think that would be the least classy thing you could do, but its a free country, and you are allowed to do whatever you want.
  7. I would have a hard time giving up these two players for Lincecum and a prospect let alone Cain, and having to add another player to the deal, I don't think so. I could see one the these two players dealt for an arm like Cain, but I highly doubt we will give up both Fielder and Hardy this offseason.
  8. I stand corrected Jeffrey Scott, for the second time in 26 years the Brewers are in a tight pennant race and I still believe the Brewers fans need to show support. Bring back the Stein, you definitely have the right to boo, but I don't understand why you would cheer against and lower the confidence of players on a team that you want to succeed. The argument that they get mountains of cash doesn't really hold up for me, since most of the teams they play against are making more than they are. Bottom line to me is that they are trying their hardest, and baseball players have bad days, and sometimes bad weeks, and booing is probably going to make it even harder to get out of the slump.
  9. Very nice post BrewerTerp, I agree, I hope the angry fans stay at home, and more fans like you go to miller park to support the Brewers for the last 6 games. They need our support now more than ever.
  10. I'm assuming the atmosphere will be negative, just like it has been in a lot of the games I've gone to this year. I hope to make at least one game, and I will cheer loudly for the Brewers, its been a long time since we've had a chance this late in the season. I don't understand the logic behind giving up on your team, and cheering against (booing) them w/ 9 games left in a pennant race. Would people rather see the Brewers 15 games out, and playing our prospects in meaningless games like past years? I know it has been a very bad month, but there are nine games left in the season and for the first time in 26 years we are in a very close pennant race. We play the two worst teams in our division for 6 of them, and a team that will have already clinched for the last 3. I think its too early to give up, to me its not as important how we got here, but that were here. Go Brewers.
  11. I can't see Melvin getting let go, he has made a lot of good moves, he has to get one more season at the very least. He is a very good GM.
  12. It was a tough loss, and I couldn't have been more dissapointed, but I definitely have not given up on this team. There are only 9 games left, and I might as well stick it out until the end of the season. At least they showed some life this series.
  13. I've never been so frustrated over one loss, I don't even know what to say anymore. What a horrible, horrible game.
  14. BA just came out w/ the top 20 pioneer league prospects, Cutter Dykstra is listed at #2, and several other brewers are in the top 20, here is the list. http://www.baseballameric...rospects/2008/266867.html
  15. You would. Yes, I would. He has never had a major injury, has averaged 178 innings a season in his 8 year career, and over his last four injury prone seasons, he still has averaged 150 innings a season. He gives the Brewers a good chance to win every time he goes to the mound. If anything, this might allow us to sign him for less than he would have previously signed for. The only way I wouldn't sign him long term would be if there is something structuraly wrong w/ his arm and he needs major surgery, but he has still shown me enough where I would sign him to an incentive based deal hoping that he would come back from his injury . By the way, I love the two word reply.
  16. Greg Vaughn, I'm glad that makes you smile, but where do you think we'd be if we didn't have his 196 innings and 2.98 era this season. He has been a true ace, and I really hope that he can finish out the season. I would love to see him re-signed so he can finish his career w/ the crew.
  17. I know I need to just stop reading it, but the jsonline mailbags are horrible and the overall coverage has been mostly negative press this season. I believe this has played a large role in the attitude of the newer fans this season. It seems like they are always trying to stir the pot w/ assumptions and Witrado never really answers questions, here are a few examples from this week that really annoy me: Q: Brian of Suamico - When is Mike Cameron going to take a seat on the bench and Tony Gwynn, Jr. going to get his at bats and leadoff position? I'm sure Gwynn can do better than strike out 3 times everygame and ground into double plays. A: Brewers Mailbag - Many people agree and would like to see that, but I doubt it happens this season. Q: Travis of Hudson - Why was the blame put on Ned Yost for a 3-11 streak, when Doug Melvin is even more at fault for signing Gagne and forcing Yost's hand because he had a 10 million dollar reliever in his pen? The Crew would probably be fighting for the division title instead of their playoff lives if Gagne had never been signed. I just want to know why the blame is on Yost instead of Melvin? A: Brewers Mailbag - Ever think that Gagne was more of an Attanasio signing than a Melvin one? That's the thinking around us, and that wouldn't be a far leap if you believe Attanasio was the one who called for Yost to be fired. Q: Pete of Waukesha - Wow.... Now that upper management has made this move of firing Ned Yost to shake things up. Are we supposed to look at the return of Robin Yount on the bench as the Brewers next manager? And I will not mention any names, but I have sources which indicate that Prince fielder will not sign with the Brewers for any amount, any insight on that? My opinion is that's more cash flow for CC. A: Brewers Mailbag - I don't think the Brewers want Prince around, so it's win-win. As for Robin Yount, I doubt, as he does, that he'll be the next manager of the Brewers. Much the way everyone thought Ted Simmons would take over for Yost, that is highly doubtful to happen. However, stranger things have happened, like canning the manager with 12 games to go and with the wild-card lead.
  18. So this is what a pennant race in Milwaukee feels like? I heard all of these great things about how great it was in '82, and how the city of Milwaukee will embrace the Brewers when they have a good team again. I couldn't wait for it to happen, because, besides opening day, Brewers fans had been respectful, knowledgable baseball fans. I've waited patiently for my whole life, and now we are 20 games over .500 and have a three game lead w/ only a couple of weeks to go in the season, and this is what its like? Things are definitely not how I thought they would be. I think the most frustrating thing about how a lot of the fans are acting, is that it seems like they don't realize that we have one of the youngest teams in baseball. Our core players are all in their mid 20's, and they are going to make mistakes, and booing them is not going to help ease the pressure at all. I really hope the Brewers make the playoffs, but I have to say I am totally disappointed in the attitude of the "new" Brewer fans. I'm glad the players are speaking out to the media, they don't deserve to be booed constantly by their own fans.
  19. I hope that we keep 3/4 of the same infield w/ Fielder, Weeks, and Hardy in it, I think all will improve, and will continue to be a big part of the ball club. I would hate to sell low on Fielder and Weeks, and I think Hardy is a more important part of the ballclub on and off the field than everybody realizes. I think it would be very smart to have Gamel and Escobar play in AAA next year. Gamel needs to keep showing major improvement defensively, and Escobar isn't needed yet w/ Hardy's play, is still very young, and could improve more w/ the bat w/ one more year in the minors. I would like to see a trade for an everyday 3rd baseman, 1st choice would be Kouzmanoff if available, I also wouldn't mind seeing Beltre w/ the team, although both would demand a few good prospects. I also wouldn't mind seeing Blalock brought in, as long as someone else (Hall) got to face lefties. Unless we can get something for him, or unload his contract, I would like to see Hall (if he finally realizes he's not a superstar) go back into the 2b, SS, 3b, and maybe some OF utility role that he used to do so well. Although, after his miserable season this year, I'm not sure that a change of scenery wouldn't be the best option for both Hall and the Brewers.
  20. How do you not catch that before it comes out, now that is some lazy editing.
  21. ELCABALLO45, I'm not sure whats so sad about that lineup. It is pretty much the same lineup that is the current wild card leader by 4 games w/ only a couple of weeks to go. I think w/ a decent uggrade at 3rd base, that the lineup will be one the best in the NL for the next couple of years.
  22. Pedro, I would love to be considered in the drawing for the tickets. Also, I want to thank you for being so generous this season.
  23. Another thing is to not give up on the diet when you have a bad day or weekend, just get right back on track, this is one thing that really helped me. Also, I allowed myself three meals a week of whatever I wanted, just so I could still have pizza, or whatever else and not feel bad. Other things that I've learned, some if which we're already mentioned are: Drink a lot of water Eat a big healthy breakfast to get your metabolism going every day. Eat smaller meal portions. Eat whole grain breads, pasta, and rice. Lots of veggies. Eat fruit instead of cake, pie, ice cream for dessert Schedule your exercise goals before the week starts Cut out red meats and cheeses as much as possible, its hard for your body to digest. Don't drink anything w/ your meals, and chew your food well, it will make it easier for you food to digest.
  24. Kotsay was traded to Boston a couple of days ago, they were only looking at him if Braun's injury was more serious.
  25. My #1 place is Barbiere's Italian Inn on Bluemound, the lasagna, garlic bread and pizza are the best I've ever had, no contest. Favorite custard is Leon's on 27th st. in Milwaukee. Favorite burrito in Milwaukee is from Jalisco's, man I miss those Burrito Suizo's. I moved to Madison about 4 years ago, and my favorites here are: Smoky Jon's BBQ on the Northside- best ribs in Madison Dotty's Dumplings Dowry- really good burgers La Hacienda Restaurant - Authentic Mexican Food, although we can't go there anymore because they apparantly don't pay there employees fairly, big labor dispute. Bunky's a Mediterranean place on Atwood is good, but I still haven't found anything in Madison close to Barbiere's. Wilson's bar and grill on Atwood, great place to get cheap and very good eats and watch the game. My least favorites places are: The El Dorado Grill, I thought this was very bland and unimpressive. Benvinuto's, just not very good, nothing seems home made, gave me an Applebee's Italian verson vibe. Erin's Snug Irish Pub, cool place but wasn't impressed w/ the food, the Beef Stew tasted like a poor man's Dinty Moore.
