  1. Off-speed command disappearing, get the bullpen busy Ron. Found it to Bernadina. Way to gut it out Yo.
  2. Sorry, but Gorzellany just threw a great pitch to get Gomez there. Made him work a bit, at least. Gallardo looks great so far.
  3. I think the Brewers got pretty lucky here. I always thought he was pretty tough, but maybe I was just too enamored with the screwball to stay unbiased...
  4. Boggs can play defense. One of Nieves or Rivera will be gone at some point(more than likely when Morgan is back) and one has to be kept. Kotsay is the most similar player on the roster to Branyan except not as good.Once Morgan returns I don't think it's all that necessary to keep a 6th OF because of his corner outfield defense. Boggs would likely clear waivers again and accept the AAA assignment. He hasn't proven to be effective as a part-time player, which is unfortunate. I think he'd do well with every day ABs, but I don't know if he'll ever get that chance on this club. If Branyan is as good as most people here seem to think he is he's certainly of more value to the Brewers than Brandon Boggs right now. I guess I'm just not on board with the universal knocking on Mark Kotsay. He handles himself just fine in RF. He gives you a pretty good AB regardless of the situation. Just because he isn't a HR threat doesn't make him useless. Again, much rather have him on the bench than Boggs, Nieves or Almonte.
  5. Why is this a Branyan vs. Kotsay thread? Boggs, Nieves, and Rivera (and Almonte) are just as expendable as Kotsay. Plenty of room for Branyan on the roster, the only question is if he's still any good. His stint in Arizona was not very encouraging.
  6. Not that I'm a scout or anything, but I just get the impression he hasn't gotten the feel for any of his off-speed stuff yet. The fastball is there but that will only take a pitcher so far. Once he starts spotting the slider in particular he'll be in good shape.
  7. At least we don't have to witness Hart vs. the Jimenez slider. Get the sweep!
  8. Marcum is the unquestioned ace of the staff, huge performance tonight. The Rockies are a good team, good to take a series from them.
  9. Yeah I used to use the "well, he rarely strikes out" argument, but he doesn't usually see three pitches so that doesn't hold much water.
  10. Yuni is definitely someone I'd like to be replaced but he certainly doesn't deserve to be the scapegoat for the team's less-than-wonderful record right now. Everyone knows the timely hitting has been the problem for them and that's on just about everyone. Betancourt has played a much better SS than I expected but that's only because of the incredibly low expectations everyone advertised all offseason. I hope they can find another SS but I won't be holding my breath.
  11. Is there a less condescending word for "choke" that I can start using
  12. Greinke's walk-up music is Green Day? Did I hear that right?
  13. I'm slowly but surely losing patience with McGehee. Two really good pitches to hit there on 3-1 and 3-2. Glad they got a run, though.
  14. lol. Forgot to make that blue. I don't think it's a hot gun, Gallardo's really popping the glove tonight.
  15. I'll be pleasantly surprised in the morning if the Brewers pull this one out. Kuroda's great. Props to you who stay up and watch.
  16. Why does everybody keep pretending our infielders are horrendous? McGehee has been rock solid, I don't know how anyone can say otherwise. Betancourt has been FAR better than I thought he would be. Weeks gets to everything and must have one of the strongest 2B arms around...Fielder is definitely the weak link but not slap-to-the-head bad like he was earlier in his career. Outside of the miserable Atlanta series they haven't made nearly as many boneheaded mistakes as we've seen from the opposition. Errors aren't the end-all but they do mean something.
  17. Well, at least Jon is starting the vast majority of games now. Though it definitely isn't optimized part of me likes a balanced lineup where the threats are spread out so no inning is a gimme. But as long as just about everyone is swinging the bat well it doesn't matter much what order they're in.
  18. Not a single "nice play Betancourt" post? Tough crowd. He might've saved the game
  19. The pirates show up and all of a sudden every line drive goes right to a defender. Weird.
