  3. Such a frustrating game. Should have scored more than 1-run in the first but hey at least they won.
  4. Who would catch the ball after the pitcher throws the ball? Also you would just be allowing the runner to steal home or any base for that matter if there is no one to catch the ball.
  5. Wouldn't need to be a trade. We could just let him go to the team if they claimed him. Of course Braun could decline with his 10/5 rights but we wouldn't have to work out a trade with another team if we just wanted to get rid of his contract. His no trade also covers this. Braun could just refuse to go to whoever claims him. He would then become a free agent or return to the Brewers.
  6. Congratulations you have now given Cubs fans an option to buy tickets at a lower price.
  7. I don't see how Moustakas turns down that $15m option next year. What team is going to give him $15m next year to play 3B? He may get a longer term contract some where else but I am struggling to find a spot for him. I don't see Atlanta shelling out a lot of money for Moustakas maybe for Machado but not for Moustakas. Then you have Donaldson who will probably get a 1-year contract and I believe Beltre could also sign a 1-year contract with someone. I think Moustakas is going to be in the same boat as he was in this past off season if he turns down that $15m option.
  8. Why would the Brewers have to give up both Woodruff and Ortiz to get Bundy? This doesn't make any sense at all. Yes Bundy was picked 4th in the draft but that doesn't mean his value is that of both Woodruff and Ortiz plus Santana. Santana may have low value but it isn't this low. Ortiz and Carlos Rodriguez for Bundy is closer to Bundy's actual value.
  9. I think Jackie Bradley Jr. is still a fair comp for Ray offensively. Ray at 23 in AA .264 .352 .521 .873 Bradely at 22 in AA .271 .373 .437 .809 Bradley did that in less games in AA than Ray has but I believe offensively they are rather identical with Ray having the edge power wise.
  10. Yeah, I forgot to mention that. There has been speculation to that effect, but if I’m Donaldson, I’m pushing hard to get on the field and prove I can play defense so as to avoid that very scenario. Unless the Jays believe the future is now, I don’t see much reason for them to want him back, when Vlad the Younger is going to need ABs and DH production isn’t exactly hard to find, especially at the level needed for a club in a soft rebuild. And, of course, trading him does not preclude his return in free agency. I don't believe Donaldson is going to be very effective at 3B defensively over the life of his next contract which will basically be his last contract he will sign (long term that is). You might get 1-2 years of good defense but that is about it and then he is going to have to be a DH or 1B. At some point Donaldson is going to be a DH and I think it is going to be sooner rather than later. I also believe that the Jays are not going to trade Donaldson and will just keep him. Not the smartest move but they are not going to get much for him if they do trade him.
  11. I think this is it for the Brewers at least on the offensive side. There maybe another trade for a reliever or a starter but I think this is it.
  12. I don't think you can do as many shifts with Shaw at 2B and Moustakas at 3B. Even as good as Arcia is at SS defensively he won't be able to cover the whole left side of the IF.
  13. Agreed you basically have to keep Arcia at SS now. The next question to answer is who goes down or is released between Perez, Saladino, Villar, and Broxton? I would prefer to keep Saladino and Broxton as 1a and 1b. Assuming Burnes or Peralta don't go down one other person needs to go when Albers comes back who do you get rid of then? With the often injured Braun and Cain needing some rest or he has some issues flair up I think you have to keep Broxton on the roster. That leaves you with Perez, Saladino, Miller, and Perez. Miller obviously goes but then you have to get rid of someone else.
  14. I don't believe this is the case. The Brewers are rather thin at 3B, I can't even name who is the 3B in AAA for the Brewers. Erceg also looks to be another 2-3 years away if he even makes it. If you look at the available 3B this off season and the only possible option maybe Donaldson and I believe he would rather take a 1-year prove it deal in Toronto than playing in Milwaukee. Donaldson prefers to return to Toronto. It just doesn't make sense for the Brewers to trade Shaw as there is no one to replace him in the minors or in FA after this year.
  15. I liked Lopez and thought he was under appreciated here though the disappointment after last year that Lopez put up I can understand that. I thought the Braves would have traded for Moustakas. Well the Brewers stole another player from the Braves this year (the braves were in on Yelich and I have heard they were also in on Cain).
  16. Doubt it. The Brewers are thin at 3B unless the Brewers think Donaldson can come back next year and be a serviceable 3B, I don't think he can stay healthy for a whole year at 3B and is probably more of a DH or 1B than he is a 3B going forward. The Brewers won't be able to afford Machado who would be the best option at 3B this off season. I just don't see how the Brewers could trade Shaw right now as there is a big black hole in the minors at 3B for the Brewers.
  17. If true that is not that bad of a trade for the Royals. Kind of an overpay for Moustakas.
  18. I think they just need to get past the final part of the Lucas original Star Wars and they will be able to do this. Right now the fans are stuck on the Lucas era Star Wars. I think going back into the past and doing something like the Knights of the Old Republic would be a good place to start. My favorite non cannon character is Revan and if they want to do the whole strong female character thing they can go with the after Revan timeline and do the The Exile's story line. Another video game character that I like in the Star Wars universe is Darth Malgus. From the expanded universe Darth Bane wouldn't be a bad starting point either but then that starts to get into the Lucas era Star Wars with Plagueis. I really believe they either need to go far into the future or go far into the past. I hope they go far into the past as I love the Knights of the Old Republic story lines. It gives you the Mandalorians, the Sith, the Republic, and the old Jedi Order. I think a story line from there is far more interesting.
  19. I'll take Boggs. Even though Boggs had a lower career SLG his OPS was a point higher than Brett's. OPS+ they are close also at 131 for Boggs and 135 for Brett. Career WAR wise they are also close with Boggs up by 2.7. Boggs and Brett are pretty close so I don't think you could go wrong with either of them.
  20. Eeeek that is steep. If you are going to put Woodruff in the trade I think you can remove Ortiz. Woodruff Phillips Stokes and Carlos Rodriguez. I think the Brewers want to trade Phillips and Ortiz both or one is going to be in a trade either during the deadline or this off season.
  21. I don't think Stokes moves the needle all that much. If you wanted to center the package around Ortiz and Phillips you would need to add in someone like Nottingham and Carmona plus a lottery ticket (Ponce, Carlos Rodriguez or Ward).
  22. I was questioning that signing when it happened. While I think Fowler is a good player he is just not worth the contract that received. I was hoping it would have been the Cubs giving him that contract but the Cardinals doing it was the next best option. I don't believe Fowler is as bad as he has been this year but the year he had with the Cubs I don't believe he is that player either. Broxton is similar to Fowler while not a perfect comparison I believe Broxton's ceiling is that of Fowler.
  23. I think this is a good idea as it will allow Counsell to spread out the innings between the Jeffress, Hader, Knebel, Soria, and Albers. Hopefully this means less multi innings for Hader.
  24. I am not saying they won't cost more it is just that it is not all that much more than what the Brewers offered for Machado. If you replace Phillips with Ray and I think you have the value of those extra years covered. To me that is not that much more than what Machado brought in.
