  1. If you look at last year Chris Sale was the only pitcher to average 7 IP per game started. The game has definitely changed for the starting pitcher IP no longer really matters in terms of what constitutes an Ace, #1, #2, etc. With your first set of stats your #1 guy who gets about 33 starts per year barely gets to the 6 IP mark. That 6 IP mark on average is basically what teams are looking for their starters to go with the way the bullpens are put together and how they are used.
  2. If the Packers take Peppers I will laugh. Yes he is a great talent but where is he going to play on the defensive side of the ball? Peppers to me feels more like a special teams type of a player. He will be a good kick and punt returner and may be someone who can play a few plays on offense. I just don't see Peppers being that great or even a good defensive player. He is very athletic but I think a team that picks Peppers and expects him to be a good defensive player is going to be completely disappointed in him.
  3. No you don't need an ace but you still need quality and you need depth. That's obvious to anyone whose watches this team that last ten years. When he have a TOR starter and quality depth we are good. When we don't we aren't. I think Hader could be a 2 but he needs to really improve his control because he's walking too many guys and last season he could barely get out of the 6th inning many times because his pitch count was too high. Ortiz Woodruff Lopez Bickford Taylor Williams and a few others all seem like quality arms but, as has been argued, many prospects won't make it so we surely can't count on all of those guys. If it comes down to who is the best player at the spot the Brewers are picking I don't really care what position that player plays. He could be a 1B for all I care if he is the best player available take him. We are talking about players at best you are looking at 3-years before they are in the majors maybe 2-years. Do we even know what the holes will be for the Brewers in 3-years from now? I don't like drafting based on need in baseball it works in the NBA and the NFL as for the most part the player is going to be playing right away or at a minimum they are going to sit for 1-year maybe 2-years. We are drafting guys who are between the ages of 17-24 years old and some of them are going to take a long time to get to the majors. You are looking at what 3-4 years for a high school player to make it to the majors and that is probably the earliest you can expect them at 3-years. The whole we have now could be completely filled by a guy that we drafted in the 10th round 2-years ago. For the Brewers they need to be drafting based on the best player available if it is a pitcher great but if it is not then that is also great. The Brewers can't be chasing down holes in the draft.
  4. Except he has been disciplined at the plate he has an OOZ% below league average. His problem is the same as Broxton's he is letting to many first pitch strikes go by. I wish batting coaches would stop telling leadoff hitters to take the first pitch. Weeks had this problem and now Villar and Broxton have this problem. If you are consistently letting the pitcher get ahead by throwing over a strike you are playing from behind as a hitters. Average, OBP and Slugging all go down after the pitcher gets ahead of a batter. Once at two strikes it is in the pitchers favor and a hitter normally will be an out at about 80% of the time. Yea Broxton drives me nuts with how many times he looks at pitches right down the middle and then ends up in two strike counts. I wish we could get Dale Sveum back as the hitting coach. He would have the Brewers swinging at the first pitch and being aggressive. The Brewers need to be aggressive at the plate right now with the first pitch especially Broxton and Villar. They need to stop falling behind as they are not good enough as hitters to be falling behind and even some of the greatest hitters who get to two strikes don't hit all that well being behind.
  5. An ace is not needed to win the world series. Majority of the teams win one without an ace on their team. Aces are rare and if you are chasing around for that ace then you have already lost. I would rather see the Brewers draft the best player available regardless of what position they play and regardless of how many we have at that position. You can never have enough SS, OF, Pitchers and catchers.
  6. Agree but his OOZ rate isn't that far off from his career rate. What is concerning is his z-contact% which is below league average and below his career rates. Maybe moving down in the order and not taking the first pitch helps him get started.

  8. He should have been DFA'd long before this.
  9. An old article and yes it talks about batting average. Basically any time a batter gets down to two strikes it is in the pitchers favor while the article only shows batting average and slugging OBP does also fall but not nearly as drastic as average and slugging does. Whenever the pitcher is ahead OBP is at about .200 YIKES! OPS+ shows this even better as any time a pitcher gets to 2 strikes OPS+ is below 100. Last year the OPS+ for 0-2 pitches was 2 and 1-2 was at 13 so basically if you are hitter don't wait just swing at anything that is in the hitting zone no matter the count. https://faculty.engr.utexas.edu/bickel/Papers/AVG_by_Count.pdf
  10. So I was watching MLB Network last night and Bill Ripken is ripping on the defensive shifts. They then show Rizzo bunting and taking first base and that was one of his proof hey he got on base and took what the defense gave him. Well that is the point of the defensive shifts would you rather have Rizzo bunt and take the single or swing away and get an extra base hit? I'll take the bunt single every time as I would rather face whoever is batting behind Rizzo than pitching to Rizzo. This was really bugging me today after watching that last night. I don't even want to get into his BABIP argument that the shifts are not working because it has increased for the past 4 years.
  11. For the finance guy that is their commission for the most part. The car salesman gets the commission on the money down that is put down and the finance guy gets their commission on how many warranties they sell.
  12. Well at least you don't live in Arizona where you have to fill out about the same amount of information as if you were buying a house. I can deal with the dealerships and their bad practices but OMG the stuff you have to fill out just to buy a car in Arizona is crazy. Hopefully the finance person doesn't screw up the contract because then you are starting all over again. The car that I purchased out here in Arizona took me about 8 hours to purchase well technically it took 5 days and 8 hours as I wasn't going to pay the price they quoted at the dealership. After the 4th day they finally gave in and I paid what they advertised the car for online. With the finance person it took about 7 hours to go through that and by the time that was finished I had to wait about another hour until they finished detailing the car. Arizona sucks when you have to purchase a vehicle at a dealership and you need to finance it. I think I am going to drive to Vegas or Texas the next time I need to purchase a vehicle.
  13. PlayStation Vue now has MLB Network.
  14. I wish Chase De Jong was still with the Dodgers but here are a few players that I like from the Dodgers: 1. Brendon Davis 3B 2. Ibandel Isabel 1B 3. Caleb Ferguson LHP 4. Andrew Sopko RHP 5. Imani Abdullah RHP If the Brewers take either Kazmir or McCarthy from the Dodgers I think the Brewers could possibly get Buehler in return but I wouldn't expect much else in return you might be able to get Caleb Ferguson or Ibandel Isabel who both are C or C- type prospects.
  15. Has to be either Carter or Delgado almost certain they are #1 and #2.
  16. Those socks are ones you receive from grandma at Christmas and that is the only time you wear them because you don't want to offend grandma.
  17. I am kind of disappointed that Joe Boyle opted out of the draft oh well I guess we will need to have the 1st pick in the draft to get him when he comes out of college. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/joe-boyle-opts-out-of-mlb-draft-2017/#3QUXltPHkoZsejSQ.97 I would really like either MacKenzie Gore or DL Hall at the #9 spot.
  18. I would agree if he would wait another year. With the current rules the Brewers have a chance though it is a small chance.
  19. Jesus save us! Oh so many corny puns! If he continues playing this well for the whole season this is going to be a very fun year.
  20. I am not sure Franly Mallen and Nic Pierre count as being under the radar but I am still following them. My only under the radar player who I am following is OF Nick Cain. Cain is another one of those big athletic type of a player. He has some major power and he has enough speed to steal 15-20 bases a year. I am also following Francisco Thomas as I am intrigued with him could be a stud.
  21. Yes indeed there is a lot to like about Jesus How crazy would it be if he turned out to be the team's saviour? [sarcasm]Religion woahs solvvd?[/sarcasm]
