  1. Players who are suspended count towards the 25 man roster so the Brewers will have to play with a 24 man roster.
  2. I would prefer something like this in a Lucroy trade with the Braves: Tyrell Jenkins, Dustin Peterson, Alec Gosser and Ozhaino Albies.
  3. I think Garza might be a better fit for the Dodgers. With the year that Greinke is having it looks like he is going to be opting out of his contract at the end of the year. While Garza is not a replacement for Greinke he will be a cheaper option than what will be available to the Dodgers in free agency. I don't believe the Dodgers will extend Greinke as you are looking at Scherzer type of money this off season for Greinke and are they willing to pay that for an aging Greinke? I don't think the Dodgers front office is going to do that and this is why Garza makes sense for the Dodgers now or even in the off season. Dodgers get Garza and Sardinas Brewers get Jose De Leon RHP, Austin Barnes C, and Zachary Bird RHP. The Dodgers need a SS and Rollins is not it with his below .200 average I wonder if the Brewers traded Garza and Segura if the Brewers could get more out of the Dodgers. I don't think they would be able to get either Seager or Urias but possibly De Leon, Barnes, Holmes, Bird, and Lee. That is a lot of talent that would be coming to the Brewers. I really like De Leon as I believe he is a front line starter. Bird is another pitcher who could be a front line starter but he has a lot of command issues and is a work in progress but he has the talent to be a top of the rotation starter. Obviously there is Holmes and he would have to be a player to be named later in the trade. Barnes is the hitter that everyone is looking for in this organization. He is very patient at the plate and hits to all parts of the field with some power. He will also bring a high OBP as he has been near a .400 OBP in his minor league career. Defensively at catcher he doesn't have a strong arm but he does block balls very well he looks to be about average to above average defensively at catcher. Barnes can also play 2B and 3B competently though his arm strength would be below average at 3B.
  4. Agreed. Send Lucroy, Lind, Lohse, and Garza to ATL for Teheran, Freeman, and Foltynewicz.
  5. What? A high 3 ERA has never been a solid 2. A mid 3 ERA is a solid #2 or #1 type pitcher. A high 3 ERA is a solid #3 or average #2 type pitcher. A mid to high 3 ERA pitcher right now is a solid #3 pitcher in a good rotation. There are not that many #2 type pitchers below a 3 ERA right now. There are a bunch of #1 type pitchers who are below a 3 ERA but I don't see many #2 type pitchers who have an ERA between a low 3 and a mid 3 ERA. You are over exaggerating what a solid #2 pitcher is.
  6. I would be OK with Allard and wow Jay wasn't even in consideration as a 1st round pick about a month ago and now all the way up to the 3rd pick in the draft? that is just crazy. Newman would be a horrible pick. I don't believe he can stick at SS and is probably a 2B with no power. I will pass on him.
  7. No, I don't see Gomez being traded at the earliest being the off season I just don't see many teams being interested in him at this time. There will be more teams who will be looking at him in the off season than there is now. Without Gomez being traded I don't see a blockbuster type of a deal being made. I would put Lohse and Lind being traded at 90% chance, with Parra and Garza at about a 50% chance.
  8. Sometimes you have to endure some pain before you experience some success.
  9. What about the Crusher?
  10. Lohse to the Royals makes more sense to me as the Royals need some starting pitching and Lohse will not cost them all that much in terms of prospects. Cheslor Cuthbert or Hunter Dozier would be an adequate return for Lohse. With Moustakas and Hosmer blocking both losing one will not hurt all that much.
  11. What about Wayne Embry the first African American GM in the NBA.
  12. Yeah another person on the Tyler Jay bandwagon! He could be a cheap sign at the Brewers pick which would allow the Brewers to take Aiken with the competitive balance pick if he is still available at that time. That is the only spot I would be comfortable with the Brewers taking Aiken. Though you would have to be almost 100% positive with Jay being a starter to take him that early in the draft. I imagine he will lose a bit on the fastball velocity wise if he becomes a starter 93-95 should be his average as a starter I believe. I do love his secondary pitches though as I think he may have at least 2 more plus pitches or at least 2 more above average pitches. This change up is nasty kind of reminds me of Cole Hamels change up. Jay's change up http://cdn.fangraphs.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Jay-Santana-Certainly-CH-SS-K.gif Hamels change up http://usatftw.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/hamelschange.gif?w=1000 I am on board with drafting Jay in the first round which probably means it is not going to happen.
  13. My guess is you are wrong. If a team is willing to trade for him it is because they believe he is the pitcher of the past 2 season where he was completely viable as a playoff pitcher. If past trades are any indication of what Lohse is worth it would tell us he is at least worth a B/B- type prospect. The Lackey trade last year is where I would put Lohse's trade value at.
  14. I would rather get a soon to be top 100 player who has the potential to be a top 10 player than just get a top 100 player in a trade. Take Appel for example former #1 pick and his ceiling is that of a #3 who is also ranked in the top 10 currently. I am sorry but if the Astros said hey you can have Appel for Garza and the Red Sox said you could have the deal I posted earlier I would take the Red Sox deal every time. Top 100 players are for fans to go oooh and aaahhh over kind of like fireworks they go boom and bang and then they are gone. I would rather trade on potential than some silly top 100 prospect ranking which has so many flaws and has a near 100% bias on how prospects are ranked. Let me ask you this would you trade Garza for Lara today or even Garza for Arcia last year?
  15. Funkhouser would be an awesome pick just because of the name.
  16. With the Red Sox scuffling especially their starting pitchers this makes sense for the Red Sox it gives them another mid rotation starter and will not cost as much in terms of prospects like it would in trading for Hamels. Brewers get: 3B/1B Rafael Devers LHP Trey Ball Red Sox get: Matt Garza and $5m Ball is a work in progress but he could become a middle of the rotation starter while Devers looks to be a really good offensive player but I am not sure he will stick at 3B he may have to move over to 1B at some point. Defensively Devers reminds me of Sandoval. The Red Sox have a lot of good positional players in the minors so losing Devers wouldn't hurt as much as losing Swihart would.
  17. Yes in 2014 he came in overweight but if you read the article that I linked to you will see that he came in in shape this year and it looks as though Jack Z has regained some faith in him.
  18. [sarcasm]I guess this qualifies as being fat[/sarcasm] http://newscater.com/jesus-montero-reports-to-mariners-camp-in-shape/ I am not sure you are going to get anything better than Montero for Lind. Actually Montero for Lind would be a steal by the Brewers. The Brewers should really only be getting either a AAAA player or with someone with a lot of baggage in the low minors. The Krod for Delmonico trade is what should be expected for Lind.
  19. While the Giants do not have elite talent (They only have 1 player in the top 100 who I do not like) they do have some MLB ready players along with some younger talent. The trade: Giants get: Carlos Gomez; OF Brewers get: Andrew Susac; C Keury Mella; RHP Christian Arroyo; 2B Susac should be starting now in the majors at catcher but he has this person named Buster Posey blocking him at catcher. This would allow the Brewers to trade Lucroy and stock the farm system even more. Mella looks to be a top of the rotation starter with one plus pitch now a possible second plus pitch and a third average to above average pitch. He does have some injury concerns with a rotator cuff injury last year though he came back in August and looked really good when he came back. As for Arroyo he is currently a SS but he will have to move to 2B as I don't think he has the range to play SS in the majors. Arroyo brings a nice bat especially at SS or 2B where he is blocked currently by Panik and Crawford. I wouldn't expect much from Susac other than being an above average defender at catcher but the two prizes in this trade are clearly Mella and Arroyo who could be superstar players neither of them are currently in the top 100 but that should change come next season as both could easily be in the top 100 by next season.
  20. The Mariners still have Montero in AAA for 1B and he has been playing fairly well in AAA so far this year. Montero would actually be the person I would target in a Lind trade to the Mariners but I don't think they would trade Montero for Lind and the Brewers would have to add another more significant piece to get Montero. If the Mariners believe in Peterson over Montero he may become available but I still believe Montero is going to cost a little bit more than Lind. At best with Seattle for a Lind trade you are probably looking at 1B/3B Patrick Kivlehan or LHP Tyler Olson.
  21. I still believe Melvin will retire after this season and the new GM has already been hired.
  22. Red Sox claim Luis Jimenez http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2015/05/03/red-sox-claim-infielder-luis-jimenez-off-waivers-ryan-hanigan-transferred-to-60-day-dl/
  23. You are missing Houston as a possibility. Houston has Appel, Correa (not going to happen), Feliz, Velasquez, and Santana. I know the Astros traded for Gattis over the off season but he hasn't hit all that well for the Astros and he will be 30 next season. The Astros only have Castro and he hasn't looked all that great since 2013. I don't really like Appel and I would rather get Feliz instead over Appel. If you want more control and a more polished pitcher then Appel would be the way to go but Appel has the same upside as Jungmann. If the Brewers could get Feliz and Santana for Lucroy that would be an awesome haul. I would also look to get Kemp or Moran but I would prefer Kemp over Moran as he brings more upside. I wouldn't be surprised if Gattis would be included in this trade. If the Brewers wanted to get Correa they would have to give up a lot more and I don't think the Brewers have the chips to get Correa.
  24. I could see a trade with the Astros where the Astros get either Peralta or Garza. Depending on the prospect the Astros want to give up I could see the Brewers getting either Michael Feliz or Vince Velasquez from the Astros. If the Astros wanted Peralta I would target Feliz/Velasquez, Tony Kemp, and A.J. Reed. Power LH 1B in Reed and an under the radar great 2B who is blocked by Altuve. Feliz/Velasquez are possible #1 type starters with Feliz being the better pitcher due to not having as many health questions as Velasquez has. I actually like Feliz more than Appel. I believe Feliz has a higher upside than Appel does as I believe Appel is a #3 starter. For Garza I think the Brewers could get Velasquez and Kemp.
  25. I swore this was the Brewerfan.net forums and not the ESPN forums.
