  1. Crawford and Ethier are probably the only bad contracts I would take on for Garza.
  2. Davies is probably a lock to make the team out of spring training and only Pena, Cravy, and Goforth would be the others with an outside chance. Wagner may make it as a long reliever. Davies I am going to assume will win the #5 spot with Pena landing in the bullpen. I don't think Pena has an option left so he is going to have to stay I think. I think 50 IP is fine though I would prefer less but 50 IP is fine.
  3. The last time I was at the Bradley center I sat at level 2 but it wasn't behind the basket. The other times I was in level 4. If you are a bigger person or have long legs it will be miserable sitting up in the level 4 area. You have absolutely no leg room up around the level 4 area. Level 3 from what I can remember the last time I was at a Bucks game are suites and they are only behind the basket on each side.
  4. Haven't seen this posted yet. Manfred Interested In MLB Expansion To Mexico Montreal is also another possibility to get a team again. Not sure how I would like 32 teams in MLB with the 8 divisions with 4 teams each. MLB would have to realign again and there would probably be talks in bringing the DH to the NL.
  5. FYI all of the games today are free on MLB.tv
  6. If the Brewers stay where they are at I think it is extremely likely that Shawaryn who is my #1 pick if I am the Brewers will be available but anything and everything can and probably will happen between now and next June.
  7. And right after that, they can trade Logan Schafer to the Dodgers for either Greinke or Kershaw. Well the Dodgers are looking to get under the luxury tax which trading Crawford's or Ethier's contract helps. Plus Crawford hasn't played a full season in forever the same with Ethier. I would expect Garza to bounce back to his career norms next year more so than Crawford will. If anything this trade would be in the Dodgers favor as they are getting rid of a very bad contract and they are gaining money in terms of not having to pay the luxury tax with this trade so a plus plus for the Dodgers. The Brewers are taking on about $13m in salary here which is definitely worth the two added prospects from the Dodgers.
  8. 1. Sign Austin Jackson to play CF next year on a 1-year deal. 2. Trade Lind, Segura, Gennett, and Lucroy. 3. Have Perez, Rivera, and Sardinas play 2B/SS/3B. 4. Garza to the Dodgers for Crawford, Barnes, and Holmes with the Brewers taking on 90% of Crawford's salary or Garza for Ethier and Barnes with the Brewers taking on all of Ethier's salary.
  9. No the Brewers are in 5th place the A's had a better record than the Brewers did last season so the tie breaker goes to the Brewers. The A's, Rockies, and the Brewers all have the same record with the Rockies winning the tie breaker with the Brewers and the A's.
  10. On one year deals: Joba Chamberlain, Tyler Clippard, Tommy Hunter, Joakim Soria, Mat Latos, Mike Leake, Trevor Cahill, Austin Jackson, Gordon Beckham, Alex Avila, Brandon Beachy, and Chad Billingsley. Those are the players I would try to get on a one year deal to see if I could flip them at the deadline. Jackson, Avila, Beachy, and Cahill could be great buy low candidates in the free agent market and allow the Brewers to get a decent prospect in return during the deadline. Jackson is probably the only player on the list that would be able to bring back a good return if he plays well enough. I would also rather have Jackson over Schafer in CF next year.
  11. [sarcasm]To have 3 lefties in a row in the lineup duh![/sarcasm]
  12. The Dodgers are looking to get under the tax so I don't see them going after Price or taking on any new contracts unless they are subtracting one of theirs (Crawford or Ethier). It is why I think Garza makes sense for them he will cost less than anyone on the current market and they could dump Crawford on the Brewers and the salaries for next year would cancel out and they would save I believe it is about $4m if Garza's '18 option kicks in if not it is a savings of about $17m for the Dodgers. If the Dodgers traded Ethier to the Brewers it would basically be a wash between him and Garza if the Brewers decided to just do the buyout for Ethier on his '18 option and this again assumes Garza's '18 option kicks in. If Garza's option does not kick in the Dodgers would be saving $13m if the Brewers use the buyout on Ethier. The Brewers do not even have a contract that would even out with Hanley so I don't think this would work out for the Brewers. Mark A. has stated that payroll is going to be lower next year so I don't think the Brewers are going to be adding any type of payroll next year which they would have to do in order to get Hanley. Braun is the only player that it could be possible with but the Red Sox are on his no trade clause.
  13. Right now the Brewers are basically guaranteed a pick between 3 and 7. As the Brewers would need to somehow make up 6.5 games to finish outside of the range of the top 7 picks which with the Brewers schedule is just not possible. After the game with the Reds today the Brewers only play the Padres who are below .500 and the Brewers have to play 4 games against the Cardinals and 6 games against the Cubs with 3 games in San Diego. Looking at the other teams who are close to the same record as the Brewers they have just about the same type of a schedule. I think the Brewers will end up with the 4th pick in the draft. I don't see the Brewers losing every game to the Cubs and Cardinals and they should win at least one game against the Padres. The Brewers need to go 3-10 to secure the 3rd pick of the draft. I think that is do able with 10 of those games being against the Cubs and the Cardinals. It is also beneficial for the Brewers that the Cardinals series is going to be a crucial series for the Cardinals to knock the Pirates out of the NL Central race. The Cubs series is also a crucial series for them to secure a wildcard spot. If they sweep the Brewers in the first 3 game series I believe they will have secured a playoff spot. I think the Brewers will end the season going 4-9 winning one game against the Cardinals, one against the Padres and two against the Cubs.
  14. Pena has swing and miss stuff and he will rack up the K's but he is also very erratic and will walk a bunch of players to go along with his K's.
  15. The teams off of the top of my head that would be a fit for Davis would be the A's, Rays, Red Sox, Yankees, Indians and the Tigers. The Rays and the Yankees would be a better fit for Davis. With the Rays you could get Jake Bauers a 19 year old 1b in AA! Granted his stats haven't been all that impressive but for a 19 year old in AA they are not all that bad. Plus scouts have rated his defense at 1B to be above average so if you like defense at 1B there you go. I would ask for Bauers and Snell though I don't think the Rays would be willing to give up Snell. A better package maybe something like Bauers and Andrew Velazquez. Velazquez looks to be more of a 3B than a SS but that is just my opinion. Not exactly like the deal for Cespedes but I actually like the talent if the Brewers are able to get someone like Snell but I think that it is unlikely the Rays trade Snell.
  16. I think I am addicted to the barstoolsports website! http://www.barstoolsports.com/iowa/chick-bails-outta-her-car-in-the-middle-of-the-street-and-forgets-to-put-it-in-park-chaos-ensues/#getcomments
  17. If you are looking for a #2 like pitcher then Mike Shawaryn would be your guy and he should be available in the 5-10 pick range. Robert Tyler is a name to watch as he may bypass all of the players on the list already he has a Plus Plus fastball and maybe the 1st pick in the draft depending on how good he pitches. He looks to be a max effort type of a pitcher though so I would stay away from him. Jason Groome could be available also in the top 10 somewhere. I like Riley Pint and AJ Puk the best but both could be gone before the Brewers pick even if they were in the top 5 both could easily go #1. Connor Jones is another player who will be available in the top 15 who profiles close to a #2 but will probably ultimately become a #3 type pitcher. As long as the Brewers stay in the top 10 I don't see a problem with the Brewers getting a pitcher like you describe. Though it is way too early to tell who is going to go in the top 10 as injuries, performance, and other things that may happen make it difficult to truly say who the Brewers could even draft right now. A pick in the top 10 is almost guaranteed right now. The Brewers will be picking in the 6-10 range that is a given and they still have a possibility to finish with a top 5 pick.
  18. Newsflash human beings have emotions!
  19. Until one of Gatewood, Lara, or someone else needs to move to 3B I would just have Perez play at 3B every year. It is not like the Brewers are going to be competing for a World Series title next year or the year after that anyways. I would rather see the Brewers just trot out Perez everyday than sign a free agent or even trade for someone to play 3B.
  20. What I really find weird about the celebration stuff is if you compare hockey to baseball. Hockey is probably 99% old white males yet after every goal scored there is a celebration. There is even players showing absolute disgust after allowing a goal. There is emotion in hockey which is nearly 99% old white males so I don't even think this is a nationality thing. This is a baseball thing which to me is completely stupid. A player should be able to show emotion when playing the game otherwise lets just replace the game with a computer simulation and be done with it already. If you want robots playing the game then go ahead watch a computer simulation of the game that is what you are going to get but I doubt that is what anyone wants.
  21. So the Cubs have lost Christopher Martinez but this sounds more like a blessing for the Cubs than hurting them as they save $2m because of the medicals. Not sure I would want the Brewers to take a chance on this guy as the scouting reports don't look all that promising on him. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/cubs-million-dollar-deal-christopher-martinez-falls-apart/
  22. Baseball strategy = lets let a pitcher get back into the count while letting him throw a pitch over the plate that is clearly hittable because it is a 2-0 count? What happens if you let a pitch go by that is hittable and that is the last hittable pitch you see in the AB then what? You get to go back to the dugout and say at least I took that pitch I could have hit on that 2-0 count. The objective of baseball is to score more runs than the other team. That is all the strategy that there needs to be in baseball quit making it more complicated than it really is. Again what happens when the batter lets the pitcher back into the count on 2-1 and then throws two perfect pitches? You just missed your opportunity to make that pitcher pay for throwing a pitch over the plate. This has to be the second dumbest unwritten rule in baseball with only the throwing at the opposing team because someone on your team got hit by a pitch or got buzzed. It is boggling my mind why anyone would want a batter to watch a pitch go by them that is perfectly hittable and something that they can handle just because they want to what? Work the count? All you are doing is allowing the pitcher to get back into the game. I just can't understand this way of thinking at all.
  23. The take sign has to be the dumbest sign in all of baseball. If you have a pitch that you can drive you better be swinging! I don't care what the count is.
  24. I thought it was 2 or 3 hours before game time. I haven't purchased off of Stub Hub in a long time though. A quick google search brought up this:
