  1. http://www.barstoolsports.com/chicago/japanese-high-school-baseball-player-has-the-most-absurd-at-bat-routine/ I'm just going to leave this here.
  2. I want Lohse in the rotation for the whole year if he is not going to be traded. I would rather have a better draft pick plus some of the younger pitchers should be getting close on their innings limit for this year. Jungmann, Cravy, and others should be getting close to their shut down numbers by next month.
  3. It is based on the teams winning percentage the year before. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/26059392/ Those percentages are for getting the 1st pick it looks to be similar to how the NBA does it by giving each team a number of ping pong balls. Though the percentages only adds up to about 77%.
  4. I don't think there are any players on the current roster who are untouchable just players who have a higher value than what any team would be willing to give up.
  5. I believe that the Brewers are not able to trade away any of the deferred money so the Brewers will have to pay all of the deferred money and not the team that acquires Ramirez. The team that acquires Ramirez would have to pay for the remainder of what Ramirez is owed for this season so no where near the $13mm you are quoting.
  6. I believe a player who is injured would have to be approved by the MLB commissioner for it to be legal but the player can not be a player to be named later. Plus I think Wheeler is accruing service time on the DL.
  7. Anyone else disappointed in Amazon Prime Day? I thought there would be some good deals but I just didn't see many and the ones that were good deals sold out in less than a few minutes.
  8. Not completely but it isn't all that hard to guess on who the Brewers are targeting in trades you just need to ask the scouts at the games. It is far harder to find out who the Brewers are going to draft than it is to find out who they are targeting in a trade.
  9. 1. Orlando Arcia 2. Tyrone Taylor 3. Monte Harrison 4. Clint Coulter 5. Gilbert Lara 6. Kodi Medeiros 7. Trenton Clark 8. Taylor Jungmann 9. Jorge Lopez 10. Corey Knebel 11. Tyler Cravy 12. Tyler Wagner 13. Michael Reed 14. Victor Roache 15. Miguel Diaz 16. Yadiel Rivera 17. Nathan Kirby 18. Jacob Gatewood 19. Marcos Diplan 20. Devin Williams 21. Demi Orimoloye 22. Wei-Chung Wang 23. Blake Allemand 24. David Denson 25. Taylor Williams Ranking from 8th down was extremely hard as there are a lot of players I like but not many of them are really standing out over the others.
  10. This is just false completely. Segura actually has a lot of value and is worth more than Nimmo. Is Segura worth someone like Matz? No he is not worth that much but he is definitely worth at least one 50-60 ranked prospect plus another 90-100 ranked prospect. Segura right now is performing about as good as Andrelton Simmons is offensively. While Segura is not even as good as Simmons is their offensive games are comparable. Segura is a top 15 SS in the league right now. Now lets look at Starlin Castro who has been rumored to be available and even with his contract the rumors have been Castro for a top 50 prospect plus more. Segura is out playing Castro in every conceivable category so yeah Segura has a lot of value and you are extremely underestimating what Segura's value is on the trade market. Here is who I would target from the Mets: Segura, Ramirez, and cash to the Mets Michael Conforto, Dominic Smith and Casey Meisner. This is a very balanced trade and I like Conforto over Nimmo and I like Meisner over any of the Mets pitchers not named Matz or Syndergaard. Meisner may just end up another #3 or #4 type pitcher which is someone the Brewers still need. The Brewers need to be stock piling these type of pitchers so the Brewers do not need to go into free agency to grab one.
  11. Zaza to the Mavs for a 2nd round pick. http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2015/07/mavs-bucks-discuss-trade-for-zaza-pachulia.html
  12. This season about a 10% chance of him being traded. In the off season it is about a 25% chance as a team is going to have to blow the Brewers away with an offer to get Lucroy.
  13. So Garza has been bad this year I don't really think that is going to stop many teams in the off season from acquiring him plus there is value here in the Dodgers being able to shed a salary here. With Greinke more than likely opting out of his contract Garza makes some sense here for the Dodgers to fill the hole Greinke is going to leave. While Garza is not Greinke he can still fill in as the Dodgers #3 or #4 pitcher in their rotation. Garza's numbers should also improve playing the majority of his games in pitchers parks. The trade proposal: Dodgers get Garza Brewers get Ethier, Austin Barnes, and Zach Lee. While I would prefer to get Holmes in this deal believe Austin Barnes is a better get and it allows the Brewers to trade Lucroy for a better pitcher than Holmes. The Brewers are taking on more money with Ethier but it pays off with the Brewers getting an above average catcher and another mid rotation starter in Lee. If the Dodgers insisted on trading Crawford instead I would look at asking for Barnes and Holmes as that is taking on an additional ~8m next year and ~9m in 2017. Even if Garza's option vests for 2018 the Brewers would still be taking on approximately $4m of Crawford's contract.
  14. I wonder if the Brewers are waiting to see which Cuban player is going to be available that will count against the international signing pool.
  15. While I agree to a point both the city and the owners are benefiting from this. The city needs to pay for some of this as they are benefiting from a new arena and development. The city can't be just taking a free ride on the owners and expect to get everything without giving up something. It is not going to be the owners who move the Bucks out of Milwaukee it will be the NBA moving the Bucks out of Milwaukee. It doesn't matter how much the owners put forward with this deal as the city is going to have to pay something or they will lose the Bucks completely and will be left with an overburden with an arena that needs to be repaired. The city is going to have to invest money either way if it is the Bucks staying or leaving they are going to have to do something with the arena. This is not fear mongering or scare tactics by the ownership of the Bucks. This is a fact that the Bucks will be leaving if a deal is not done as the NBA has a mandate on it.
  16. So you are giving me the choice of death by a thousand cuts with paper laced with salt or death by a million leaches?
  17. There really isn't any value to it but if a team got lazy and decided to just offer a QO instead of putting forth an offer to the player it would have a point to it. It would be the same as the team offering a 1-year contract at the QO to the player. This would also force the player to accept it or decline it and allow the team to move forward sooner than just offering the player a contract.
  18. Good we never have to hear it again because even if a mentally handicapped GM wanted to offer him a QO they couldn't. You can't offer a QO to someone traded midseason. Actually you can offer a QO to any player. The rules only state if there is compensation or not.
  19. Parra should get anywhere between $15-20m on a 3-year deal this off season.
  20. Well lets see what Jack Z has done since taking over the Mariners as GM in 2008 the Mariners have had an OBP of .303. OK maybe this isn't a great starting point for Jack Z lets say 4 years in the future start at 2012 well it gets worse for the Mariners if you do that it goes down to .299. If you go from 2008-2015 with the Brewers their OBP is .323 which ranks them 13th in baseball. Even if you do the 2012-2015 it is at .313. The myth of Melvin only wanting low OBP players is that a myth. The Brewers have actually drafted really well in terms of players who are big OBP players. While the results haven't been what you would expect the players have been targeted for their advanced plate discipline. Adam Lind is another player Melvin has got that is a guy that fits the OBP mold. The problem with the Brewers has not been Melvin's inability to get good OBP players. The problem with the Brewers has been drafting and evaluating pitching. This has been a problem since Jack Z got here and has been a problem since he has left. The only pitcher that had an even a chance to become a great pitcher was Mike Jones but he fell apart in terms of injuries. The only other player who again profiles as a #2 best case and is probably going to be your typical #3 pitcher is Odorizzi if he can stay healthy that is. Montgomery is going to be the guy that takes over for Melvin. I believe Montgomery is going to be a great GM for the Brewers and hopefully he is able to fix the real problem which has eluded the Brewers over the past 10+ years which is evaluating and developing pitching. The offense has not been the problem since Melvin has taken over it has been the pitching that has been the problem. I am not sure why this is even a topic as the Brewers have been fairly good offensively and have been fairly bad in terms of pitching since Melvin has taken over.
  21. They are both the same players with nearly identical stats. Weeks was also a player who got on base and worked the count earlier in his career. Melvin has always targeted guys that are big on base players. Mike Cameron a free agent signing by the Brewers was signed because of his on base skills and how he worked the count. Gabe Kapler another player who was a big OBP. This feels more like you are trying to make your opinion a fact here than anything else.
  22. I would prefer Sims, Toussaint, and Davidson.
  23. Don't forget about the Dodgers as they currently have Rollins at SS who looks to be done.
  24. I still don't see Gomez being traded at the deadline. I see Gomez being traded in the off season and hopefully the Brewers can get either an Upton like deal or a Heyward like deal.
  25. I am not sure why this is a surprise as LH relievers are always in demand. You are not going to get much even if Cotts had a zero ERA. At best you are looking at a AAAA player for him.
