  1. I think Gennett is about as good as Weeks was defensively at 2B with less range and a weaker arm.
  2. All of the scouting reports I have read on DeShields is that he is a plus defender. The only knock that he gets is that he can take plays off here and there. Valera has also been praised for his defense. While neither could play SS both would be adequate in the OF. I would put Valera and DeShields as a significant upgrade defensively over Gennett at 2B.
  3. If the Brewers wanted to go the risky route they could take Delino DeShields as he can play the OF and 2B. If he is only playing against lefties when Scooter is sitting then it could be a good gamble. Otherwise Breyvic Valera could be a possible option but he can only really play 2B and the OF like DeShields but if he is only playing against left handed pitchers that wouldn't be a bad idea to have him on the bench. Both DeShields and Valera would be better than Schafer. A safe bet could be Taylor Featherston as he could play 2B, SS, or 3B. And if the Brewers wanted to do what they did last year with Yhonathan Barrios. He could definitely be an asset in the bullpen and I wouldn't be surprised if he has success in the bullpen as he throws rather hard. The only problem here is that last season was his first season as a pitcher.
  4. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/diamondbacks-to-acquire-jeremy-hellickson.html The Dbacks have acquired Hellickson from the Rays. The Rays will be receiving OF Justin Williams and SS Andrew Velazquez. This is a nice haul for the Rays for Hellickson and I like this deal a lot for the Rays. The Rays were able to trade an extra bottom of the rotation pitcher for basically one very good prospect and one wild card prospect. Some info on the prospects: From Scoutingbook.com
  5. I think the classic rock concert will be ZZ Top it just makes sense. The other two will be an American Idol contestant and some band that no one has heard of.
  6. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/tigers-close-to-re-signing-victor-martinez.html 4-years $68 million for Martinez with no trade protections. This is a dumb move by the Tigers.
  7. Ruben Tejada would be a nice backup to Gennett and Segura.
  8. I don't believe the Mets have the prospects that the Rockies would want in a deal for Tulo or Cargo. Actually, the Mets have a lot of nice prospects. Here's a list of top 100 guys from MLB. #10 - Starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard #59 - Catcher Kevin Plawecki #60 - OF Brandon Nimmo #79 - Last year's top pick, Michael Conforto (would have to be a 'player to be named later' since you can't trade a draft pick for a year). #81 - 1B Dominic Smith #95 - Pitcher Rafael Montero And there's some young pitching in the majors right now, such as DeGrom and Wheeler. Start with Syndergaard, then add in a couple of other guys. That's not a bad haul. Mets prospect list: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/prospects/watch/y2014/#list=nym There is no way the Mets would trade Syndergaard and DeGrom and Wheeler are both going to be off the table also. So that leaves Plaweki, Nimmo, Smith and Montero. I just don't see the Rockies accepting anything less than Syndergaard, Plaweki, Nimmo, and Smith for Tulo. There is no way the Mets would give that up just to get Tulo. The Mets just don't have the prospects that would be willing to give up to get Tulo.
  9. I don't believe the Mets have the prospects that the Rockies would want in a deal for Tulo or Cargo.
  10. Not that I want to see this happen but more than likely there would be an opt out clause after the 3rd or 4th year for Scherzer as I believe Boras is his agent. So if he stays healthy he will opt out of his contract at that time and that is where the Brewers should really just part ways with him. I highly doubt Scherzer will sign with the Brewers but I wouldn't put it past MA.
  11. Players I would be interested in: 1B/3B Neftali Soto Reds OF/3B Josh Vitters Cubs C/3B Carson Blair Red Sox 1B Allan Dykstra Mets 3B Tyler Henson Phillies LHP Zach Kroenke Nationals I didn't find many pitchers I liked. I did find this interesting name in the list though: Burt Reynolds Mariners
  12. The Angels will either trade Freese or Beckham. Freese's name has been talked about more from what I have heard. If the Angels are not able to trade Freese or Beckham one of them maybe non tendered but I have also heard that the Angels may just keep both of them to play 3B and backup at 2B.
  13. Maldonado has nowhere near the value that Conger has so no. What the Brewers could get for Maldonado is more along the lines of a AAAA player.
  14. If it is indeed Montgomery this is an awesome signing by the Brewers.
  15. This is probably my favorite Weeks home run it just looks so effortless by him. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=23107163&c_id=mlb Thanks for the memories Weeks!
  16. Uggg no. Lucroy should be the #2 hitter and Gennett shouldn't bat any higher than the 7th spot in the lineup.
  17. If I was Melvin I would be putting in a claim for Josh Vitters who was just recently outrighted by the Cubs. He is still young yet at 25 as he doesn't turn 26 until next August. It is way to early to be giving up on him. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/orioles-outright-evan-meek-2.html
  18. Not a recent prospect but former Cubs top prospect Josh Vitters has been outrighted. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/orioles-outright-evan-meek-2.html
  19. Bryant is the scariest Cubs prospect scratch that he is the scariest prospect in all of baseball. Should be a .300+ with a lot of power kind of reminds me of Braun when he first came up.
  20. I can't remember the last time I paralleled parked.
  21. I am not sure why everyone is fawning over Maddon so much. Maddon has the same exact strategy that Roenicke uses. I guess it is just a different name that makes everyone so excited over what we already have.
  22. Joe Maddon opts out of contract with the Rays. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/10/joe-maddon-opts-out-of-contract-with-rays.html
  23. The only manager that the Brewers have had recently that wouldn't start young players consistently was Macha. The whole Gamel debacle was weird. He hits good in his first game against St. Louis and then all of a sudden he is on the bench and then back to AAA.
  24. Build your winning roster for 2015 Unless those A ball players are playing in the Majors in 2015 I don't see how that would be relevant to the topic at hand. It would be relevant if the topic was Build your winning roster for the future but I don't see how getting A ball talent even if they are really good would help in winning in 2015 which is what the topic is about.
