  1. Arroyo is not going to be a SS when he gets to the majors he should be moved to 2B. But that is just my opinion. This is what I thought would be a some what fair trade for Gomez to the Giants. viewtopic.php?f=66&t=32656
  2. What? At worst Toussaint should be a relief pitcher similar to Jeffress.
  3. I think Orimoloye is my favorite pick so far this year just because it would be funny hearing Uek trying to say that name.
  4. I wish the Angels actually had a prospect that I liked to trade Gomez for as I believe the Angels would be a fit for Gomez.
  5. I do and my coworker also watches so there is a lot of Archer quotes that gets thrown around at work.
  6. If you are trying to change a pitchers throwing motion by the time they are either graduating high school or coming in from college you are fighting a losing battle. You might win here and there but you are going to lose more than just letting the player keep their mechanics. I just don't believe a team should be tinkering with a player at all especially when it comes to pitching.
  7. Really all that needs to happen is to shorten the draft. At one point teams needed to have 20+ rounds to fill the minor leagues but that is in the past and that is not needed anymore. If the draft were to be shortened to 25 rounds this would alleviate a lot of the problems with the draft. Even at 25 rounds that is a lot of players being picked I would prefer a 15 round draft as I believe that would be more beneficial to the game.
  8. Regardless if he stays or goes down Gatewood and Harrison also are going to repeat at Wisconsin next year.
  9. It depends on how much they exceed the bonus pool. If they exceed it too much the Brewers will have to give up their first round pick next year.
  10. If the Brewers could get Niese the Brewers could possibly trade him in the off season. If the Mets are that dumb to give up on Niese for Ramirez it wouldn't be a bad idea to take him on this year and then trade him in the off season but I don't think Melvin would do that. There would be some salary relief with trading Ramirez for Niese. A 3-team deal really would be an ideal situation in trading Ramirez in my opinion. Send Ramirez to the Mets for Niese and then send Niese to the Royals for someone like Cheslor Cuthbert 1B/3B or Hunter Dozier 3B. I would even include money to the Royals if it means the Royals would give up Ryan O'Hearn and Cuthbert for Niese and $3-5m. Niese for Cuthbert wouldn't be a bad trade as Cuthbert could play 1B or 3B I am not sure on his defense at 3B.
  11. Because the Mets are not going to trade away any young player for Ramirez. The Mets are looking to get Matz into the rotation this year. The best way to do this is to trade Niese or Gee for someone. It is going to come down to the Brewers or the A's on which one is going to bite on either Niese or Gee for Ramirez or Zobrist. It is either take Niese or Gee or get nothing for Ramirez. I don't see another team out there that will take on Ramirez. It is nice and all to say you want younger players but you can't trade with yourself that is not how this works. The other GM is going to have to agree with this and I just don't see the Mets agreeing to it.
  12. Probably will be Ramirez for Niese or Gee.
  13. I don't see Gomez being traded by the deadline as I don't see a team in need of Gomez. There will be more teams in the off season that will be looking at Gomez in a deal. The likely players to be traded by the deadline or after include Lohse, Ramirez, Broxton, Cotts, and Garza. Lohse should still net a lower level prospect and I still believe the Royals are a team that fits here as they have a couple of C grade prospects that they can dump that wouldn't hurt their future. Ramirez to the Mets makes sense but just don't expect much in return you are looking at a high risk low level player in return for Ramirez think the K-Rod trade with the Orioles a few years back. Broxton and Cotts will be traded after the deadline in waiver wire type deal will probably just be a money dump for both. Garza to me still fits with the Dodgers being a bargain buy by the Dodgers where they will not have to give up all that much in terms of prospects to get Garza. I don't see many major trades going down this trade deadline which makes it a buyers market for trades. I would want the Brewers to stay away from trading Segura, Gomez, or even Lucroy as I don't see teams giving up the talent needed for a good return for them. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=32907
  14. I don't believe the Mets are serious in trading any of their young pitching at all. Is Segura worth Matz? I believe he is but I don't believe the Mets are going to give him up for Segura. I also believe the Mets are not going to make a big splash in a trade this year. I believe they are going bargain hunting and they are going to come away with someone like Ramirez to play 3B for them. They won't have to sacrifice any significant future player in their farm system which is what they are looking to do. If the Mets could land someone like Addison Russell I think they would deal from the pitching strength but otherwise I don't see them trading their young pitching for anything less than a Russell type.
  15. I believe the Brewers are going to go with whoever will allow them to sign someone who may fall to the Brewers competitive balance pick and their 2nd round pick. Matuella could fall to the Brewers with their competitive balance pick and by drafting someone like Hayes that could give them a chance at Matuella or Aiken. Brewers pick (actual): Ke'Bryan Hayes, 3B, Concordia Lutheran HS (TX) Brewers pick (your pick): Kolby Allard, LHP, San Clemente High School 1-1 ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS: Dansby Swanson, SS, Vanderbilt 1-2 HOUSTON ASTROS: Tyler Jay, LHP, Illinois 1-3 COLORADO ROCKIES: Alex Bregman, SS, Louisiana State 1-4 TEXAS RANGERS: Brendan Rodgers, SS, Lake Mary HS (Fla.) 1-5 HOUSTON ASTROS: Nathan Kirby, LHP Virginia 1-6 MINNESOTA TWINS: Dillon Tate, RHP, UC Santa Barbara 1-7 BOSTON RED SOX: Tyler Stephenson, C, Kennesaw Mountain HS (Ga.) 1-8 CHICAGO WHITE SOX: Carson Fulmer, RHP, Vanderbilt 1-9 CHICAGO CUBS: Daz Cameron, CF, Eagle's Landing Academy (Ga.) 1-10 PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES: Garrett Whitley, OF, Niskayuna HS (N.Y.) 1-11 CINCINNATI REDS: Andrew Benintendi, of, Arkansas 1-12 MIAMI MARLINS: Trenton Clark, of, Richland HS, North Richland Hills, Texas 1-13 TAMPA BAY RAYS: Garrett Whitley, of, Niskayuna (N.Y.) 16. I wonder if that will be the new alternate jersey that will replace the red ones?
  17. [sarcasm]The Brewers are going to take with their first pick in the draft RHP Ben Ancheff.[/sarcasm] Ben Ancheff
  18. Montgomery's strategy just looks to be best player available and then he takes a gamble after the first round.
  19. The last I heard anything about the Mets was that they were not interested in trading any of their young pitching for anyone including Tulowitzki. From the people that I have talked to they have said that the Mets won't move any of their young pitching especially Syndergaard another name that I was told that looks to be unavailable is Matz. From what I have been told the Mets are looking to trade some of their less than stellar prospects like Cecchini and others they would part with but not Matz or Syndergaard. It would take someone like Addison Russel for the Mets to trade either Syndergaard or Matz in other words there is no chance the Brewers are getting either Matz or Syndergaard for Gomez or even Gomez and Braun.
  20. A couple of guys I like with that 1st pick next year or even a top 5 pick next year: Bobby Dalbec, 3B, Arizona A.J. Puk, LHP, Florida Jason Groome, LHP, IMG Academy HS (FL) Riley Pint, RHP, St. Thomas Aquinas HS (KS) Riley Pint is a number pick not sure how you can see he is not one. Scouts have been comparing Pint to Lucas Giolito, Jameson Taillon and Dylan Bundy. Not sure how anyone could say he is not a possibility for a #1 pick. Dalbec has been compared to Kris Bryant and D.J. Peterson but he probably won't stick at 3B and will more than likely have to go to the OF. He has a cannon for an arm so RF would be a nice spot for him it would be a waste to put him at 1B. Puk has been someone that I wanted the Brewers to draft out of high school. He is a big lefty and draws some comparison to Sabathia. Oh and he can hit monster home runs also so if pitching doesn't work out he could always become a power hitting 1B.
  21. Hunter Dozier should be enough just for Lohse alone without even throwing in any money for Lohse. Another player from the Royals who is in the same position as Dozier is Cheslor Cuthbert both are B-/C type prospects.
  22. But will Friedman trade either Seager or Urias for Cueto or Hamels? I don't think he will and that ends the conversation with both the Reds and Phillies. Maybe the Reds will take De Leon but they are going to want more than De Leon in return and it would almost have to include Holmes plus more. I just don't see Friedman giving up all that talent for just half a season of Cueto. Garza makes sense here and Lohse a little bit less. I still believe Lohse makes more sense for a team like the Royals who may just want a half a season of a player and don't want to give up a big time prospect. The Royals also have some depth at 1B and 3B that they can deal from.
  23. They could but I don't think Friedman is going to go that route. Landing someone like Garza who will be under paid compared to his peers in the upcoming free agency would be a steal for any team. The majority of #3 and #4 type pitchers are going to be paid more than what Garza is making. The Dodgers could go out and sign Zimmerman or Cueto in the off season but is Friedman going to go and do this? I don't think he will and will instead go bargain hunting if he doesn't already this season. Garza is that bargain as he would fit in nicely as their #3 or #4 pitcher next season and he fits in nicely as the #3 this season. I don't see Friedman parting with his top two prospects so that eliminates both Cueto and Hamels unless a team is enamored with De Leon. It is kind of sad really for the Reds as there are not that many teams that are going to be out there that are going to be looking for a rental player especially at the price that Cueto is going to demand. Players like Lohse, Garza, and others are actually going to be in demand more than Cueto and Hamels will be. With the way that baseball has turned into right now in prizing prospects especially young ones that look to be certain super stars I don't see teams giving up major talent to get a rental like Cueto or even a player like Hamels who has more years on his contract left. I believe these type of deals are in the past at least for now. The only team I can see giving up a major prospect for Cueto or Hamels are the Cubs and they are only going to give up one and that prospect is Baez. I don't see the Reds or the Phillies giving up either of their players for only one super prospect and I see the Reds holding onto Cueto and taking the draft pick as the return is not going to be all that great.
  24. I would try to include Segura or Sardinas in a trade with Garza/Lohse to the Dodgers. The Brewers are not going to get either Seager or Urias but they could get De Leon plus a lot of others from the Dodgers. The Dodgers right now have Rollins at SS and this is his stat line so far this year: .201/.277/.601 How long are the Dodgers going to stick with that abysmal production from their starting SS? Sardinas could easily put up that offensive line and bring better defense. Even in a horrible year last year Segura was better than Rollins is this year. I doubt the Brewers would do this but it just makes sense to trade Segura or Sardinas with Garza or Lohse to the Dodgers for some of their extra prospects.
