  1. I am fairly certain they would take Coulter, Arcia, and Taylor for Tulo. I doubt any team would be crazy enough to top that.
  2. Well for the Brewers to get better they are going to have to trade off some of their current talent. The Brewers need to get younger right now to get better in the future. The next wave of good players are about 2-3 years away. Will Gallardo be in the picture when the next wave of prospects hits? Will Lucroy still be here when the next wave hits? Right now the only player you can say for certain will still be with the Brewers when the next wave hits is Braun as he is going no where with that contract and the baggage he will bring. If the answer is no then why are we holding onto them right now? I have no problem with keeping the players we have and adding on. I believe the rotation is fine so the Brewers don't need to add much there even with losing Gallardo the rotation should be fine. Even losing someone like Fiers it should be fine. The biggest assets the Brewers have right now are Gomez, Lucroy, Nelson, and Peralta and then after that you have a bunch of assets that are going to bring you nothing in return or very little to anything unless you want to trade away the future Arcia, Taylor, Coulter etc. for a short term gain. I would be fine trading away Gomez or Lucroy if the Brewers are getting back enough value. Here is another thing I wouldn't be surprised if you here the Brewers as a team in the mix for Tulowitzki this off season. The Brewers have the pieces to get Tulowitzki but should they do it? If the Brewers add Tulo next year would they be a better team than this years and how much better are they going to be? The Brewers are missing things in their roster and it is not just a one or two player fix. The Brewers are going to have to trade away an established player in order to get this fixed. I do not see any other way around this at this time. The Brewers could definitely just stand pat with what they got and add another piece or two but I don't see that fixing much of the problems the team has faced this year. All you are going to get is a slightly better team than what we have this year.
  3. How to turn this franchise around? What I would like to see in the off season is trade Fiers as he has the highest value and it would be best to sell high on him now than just releasing him in 2-3 years. Maybe some GM out there can be fooled by Fiers and will give up a top level prospect. Other than Fiers you are looking at Nelson and I don't see many teams out there giving up any young talent for Nelson at best you are going to get someone who is 1-2 years away from free agency so that doesn't really help the Brewers in the long run. Gallardo another asset is also not going to bring much in return. You might be able to get a teams 5-10 prospect but I don't think anything better than that is what you will get for Gallardo and the same can be said about Lohse or even Garza. This is getting close to a post that should be in the transaction/rumors forum section but here is what I would like to do in the off season but I doubt Mark A would sign off on this. Braun stays as there is no way the Brewers are going to find a team to take him and get value back. It would be a pure salary dump and that is just not even worth it. Trade #1 Gallardo and Burgos to the Dbacks for Randall Delgado and Brandon Drury. This gives the Brewers a project starter in Delgado and a possible future 3B. Trade #2 Lucroy to the Red Sox for Blake Swihart and Eduardo Rodriguez. This gives the Brewers their starting catcher of the future and another #2 or #3 type pitcher. Trade #3 Fiers to the Dodgers for Zach Lee. This gives the Brewers another mid rotation option with Lee. Brewers 2015 team: C Maldonado and a FA pick up 1B Clark and Rogers 2B Gennett and Segura 3B some minor league guy SS Segura and Herrera OF Gomez, Davis, Braun, Schafer, Gindl SP: Garza, Lee, Peralta, Lohse, Nelson RP: Jeffress, Broxton, Gorzelanny, Delgado, Smith, Kintzler, Figaro This should give the Brewers a top 5 pick in the following years draft though the starters could actually make things interesting and the Brewers could finish at or above the .500 mark. What I expect to actually happen this off season and this will all be orchestrated by Mark A. The Brewers will be all in on Sandoval if Ramirez does not resign with the Brewers it is almost a guarantee right now that Ramirez turns down his portion of next years option and also turns down the qualifying offer that the Brewers will give him. I believe Ramirez wants to play another 2-3 years and I don't believe the Brewers will want to keep him for that long unless the NL magically gets the DH for the next couple of years or Ramirez agrees to move to 1B. I don't see either of those two things happening. Trades I expect Melvin and Mark A to be in on: Matt Kemp he could easily fill in RF with Braun possibly moving to 1B or back to LF. If the Brewers are in on Kemp I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis playing for another team next year. Davis should bring in a decent return probably a fairly decent prospect but again nothing better than a teams 5-10 ranked prospect.
  4. I am not sure how changing coaches changes the players. You are not going to change Braun, Gomez, Ramirez, Davis, Lucroy, or Gennett. The only player that could possibly be changed is Segura. So one player out of the normal regulars being changed is going to make this team better? The approach is not going to change if the Brewers bring in a new coach for hitting or even on the base paths it is going to be the same no matter who you bring in unless you want to trade all of the players I just listed above. Mark A is not going to do this at best you are going to see a new hitting coach and maybe a few new coaches on the bench. Roenicke is going to stay and Melvin is still going to be here. Mark A is not going to make these knee jerk reactions that fans like to make. I wouldn't be surprised to see Narron back next year. To me change the management is just making changes just to make changes. The end result of making these changes is going to be about the same as it is this year. This team had two good months followed by mediocre to horrible months. The Brewers have been on the decline since about the beginning of June. If you want to see an actual collapse caused by a GM look at the A's who have lost more ground than the Brewers have. Everyone was crowning the A's as World Series contenders and winners around June and then absolute locks after the trading deadline with their acquisitions. The A's look worse than the Brewers do right now especially their offensive struggles. I wonder if Beane and Melvin will be fired in Oakland?
  5. Clark is a platoon player at 1B his closest comp that I can think of is a left handed version of Casey McGehee.
  6. I am fairly certain he would not have taken the money and played. source: https://twitter.com/alecdopp/status/459870561876066304
  7. Yes you can give them a pass as that is 3 players in the majors right now. Kentrail Davis still has a chance to make it to the majors also so that could be 4 players. Plus Franklin and Davidson look to be about the same talent wise as Khris Davis who was taken in a later round then both of those. Only Paxton and Owings look to be better than Davis. A little bit of a contradiction here based on your previous remarks from the previous draft. The Brewers had a 0% chance of signing Fernandez as the only teams that had a chance to sign Fernandez in that draft were the Marlins and the Rays. Fernandez didn't want to play for any team besides a team that played in Florida. Cj Cron is a DH as I am not impressed with his defense at 1B think Prince but worse defensively at 1B. Gray is probably the only player that I would have picked over Jungmann/Bradley on your list. The Brewers did try and sign Abreu and were just outbid by the White Sox and the money that went to Garza would have been going to Abreu. The Brewers more than likely thought the risk of Abreu being a bust was higher than what they were willing to pay him. I am going to assume the Brewers offer capped out around $10m a year which was slightly over the amount I would have been comfortable with compared to the risk of Abreu being a bust. You also stated this when Abreu was signed by the White Sox:
  8. At my current job we have a messenger program that everyone uses to communicate instead of using the expensive phone. The thing that bothers me is that everyone calls it a ping when you receive a message or when they want you to send a message to them. Why do they call this a ping I just don't get it and it is just bugging me to death right now. Ping me my supervisor says ping me the AVP says and finally the VP says email me or message me. At least I have one person who is still sane in the office so at least I have that going for me......
  9. I just have to say one thing and that is I hate tablets. I just do not get the hype for them as they are just over sized smart phones that a majority of them can not make a call from. I also hate laptops that are tablets but not tablets but are not actually laptops. I also hate the smart watches.
  10. This could be even more if the Brewers do not resign Ramirez this off season. If the Brewers don't resign Ramirez it isn't out of the realm of possibilities that Mark A and Melvin go after Sandoval or possibly even Hanley Ramirez. I am not advocating for either of these signings but this definitely will be a Mark A type of a move. Do not be surprised to see the Brewers and Sandoval mentioned a lot in this upcoming off season.
  11. He has stone hands catching...how is he going to play an infield position? Try him in Of first. This is just not even true. I have not seen any scouting report that even comes close to stating this. Others who have seen Coulter play will probably also state that this is false.
  12. I hate making these absolute statements but there is no chance at all that Melvin is fired. Melvin is here until he retires which maybe sooner than later. Roenicke has at least one more year as the manager of this team. The only guarantee is that there will be some changes like the hitting coach being replaced but that may not even happen. I do not see Mark A making a drastic change at all. This forum is probably going to blow up when this happens though.
  13. This is going to be a funny off season when nothing happens. Roenicke will not be fired nor will Melvin. At best the perverbial punching bag the hitting coach will be let go but that doesn't really do anything. I would rather see Fiers be traded and see if we can find someone dumb enough to give up a nice prospect. This is the perfect sell high opportunity here.
  14. How was that a horrible approach? It was a pitch he should be swinging at. This notion of taking the first pitch just to take it is dumb. If you get a good pitch to swing at you swing at it no matter what the count is and no matter what the situation is.
  15. 2 hard hit balls 2 outs 2 weakly hit balls no outs. Baseball is weird and frustrating.
  16. You are missing David Denson from the 2013 draft a 15th round pick. Lots of power and he showed some patience this year at low A.
  17. The Pirates lost 7 in a row in early or mid August I believe and the Pirates again just lost 3 straight to the Cardinals. So your first statement is false. Roenicke has about a .001% chance of being fired even if the team loses every game this month.
  18. CHI - 3-0 STL - 4-0 MIA - 4-0 CIN - 2-1 STL - 0-3 PIT - 0-3 CIN - 0-3 CHI - 0-3 13-13
  19. I think the Brewers will remove Hunter Morris from the 40 man especially with the year that he had this year as I don't see why a team would even take a gamble on him. Players to be added to the 40 man include: Taylor Jungmann, Yadiel Rivera, Tyler Cravy, Jed Bradley, David Goforth, and Adam Weisenburger. So that is 6 spots with Weeks, Duke/Gorzelanny, Overbay, Reynolds, and Rodriguez gone plus the removal of Morris from the 40 man. If Ramirez declines his option I am not sure the Brewers will be able to retain him so if that happens the Brewers should be at 41 with Henderson and Thornburg? Other possible removals: Hiram Burgos, Johnny Hellweg, and Jeff Bianchi By the way when did Ariel Pena get added to the 40 man? It is showing that he is on the 40 man roster on the Brewers page.
  20. The Badgers have a passing game it is just that the QB and the WR are not on the same universe.
  21. Fiers with no control so this is going to be a long game. Hello Marco Estrada 2.0
  22. No one can trade for Morneau now until the off season as he has been pulled back from waivers. The Brewers do not have until Sunday to get Morneau.
