  1. 1. Kolek - The Astros go with whoever signs the cheapest I'm not sure if it will be Aiken or Kolek but I am going to go against the consensus here and go with Kolek over Aiken. 2. Jackson - The Marlins love this kid a lot and have been hyping him a lot and I just don't see them passing on him no matter who is available with this pick. 3. Aiken - The White Sox go young here with Aiken and he is the best overall talent available also which I believe they are going to go with. 4. Rodon - The Cubs can not pass up Rodon here as he would arrive around the same time as their young hitters. This is going to be an expensive signing as Rodon is going to want #1 pick money. This is going to be a tough signing for the Cubs. 5. Gordon - I don't see the Twins taking a pitcher here and with their favorite player already being taken in Jackson Gordon is the next best available talent. 6. Nola - The Mariners would have liked to of gotten a HS bat here but with Nola still on the board the Mariners go with him instead and add more depth to their starting pitching in the minors. 7. Turner - I don't see the Phillies passing on Turner here. 8. Freeland - This is an interesting pick for the Rockies as pieces start to fall to them. I could see the Rockies going a million different ways but they are more than likely going to take a pitcher here and I like Freeland at this spot. 9. Toussaint - With Toronto's first pick they go with a HS pitcher who has a lot of raw talent this is going to be a long project for the Jays. 10. Newcomb - Hard to pass up a talented lefty with this pick for the Mets and they are lucky that he falls to them. 11. Zimmer - Was looking at Holmes or Zimmer with this pick but with the Jay's already taking a pitcher I see them going with a bat here. 12. Holmes - This is a hard pick to make as the Brewers could go with just about anyone. But I believe Holmes is #1 on their board.
  2. 18-10 There are some favorable matchups for the Brewers this month.
  3. I would rather have Garza long term than Gallardo. Fiers is a #5 pitcher at best and is probably more along the lines of a long reliever. While he is having success at AAA I am not all that impressed by it. Yes he has a low ERA blah blah blah blah blah blah the fact still remains is that he is a control pitcher with no plus anything. I would rather trade Fiers and Estrada in the off season or even at that the deadline to create room for Nelson. Both Fiers and Estrada are expandable and I would rather have Garza over both of them.
  4. Starting pitching especially relatively young starting pitching is at a premium so Middlebrooks is not going to get you a very good or even a moderately good young starting pitcher. Middlebrooks just does not have the value to get anything like that. At best if the Red Sox were to trade Middlebrooks right now they are looking at a package of Magnifico and Morris/Rogers/Delmonico.
  5. I would love for the Brewers to take Davidson but it doesn't look like he will last until the Brewers 2nd pick. Not sure if it would be a good idea to take him with the 12th pick. I wouldn't trust much of any of the mock draft that are linking the Brewers to any player. The Brewers have been fairly secretive with who they are going to pick and normally don't leak anything on who they are going to pick.
  6. Right and it would only hurt the Brewers chance at winning games. Gennett is not an everyday 2B as he is just not that good at hitting LHP and Weeks is not good at hitting RHP at this time in his career.
  7. This is just the Brewers PR staff promoting to its casual fan base.
  8. The same people talking about how bad these guys are were almost certainly talking about how bad Gomez was a couple of years ago and would have been against trading for him. It's never sexy to get a guy who's got a very low batting average and is struggling...but if you wait until they figure it out, you're not going to get them. Middlebrooks for a C prospect. I agree with both of you but Boston is going to want something more than a C prospect. I would definitely do the trade for a C prospect but I just do not see the Red Sox giving up Middlebrooks for a C prospect. I would definitely add either Middlebrooks or Moustakas but I am not sure the Royals or the Red Sox are ready to give up on them. I believe the Red Sox would ask for Nelson in return for Middlebrooks but that is an extreme overpay especially in this trade market. I am not sure the Brewers have anything of interest to offer to either teams possibly someone like Richardson could be valuable to the Red Sox.
  9. I am fairly certain that the Brewers will sign Morales to play 1b for this season only. The corresponding move to free up a roster spot will be Overbay being DFA. If the Brewers are not able to sign Morales plan B is to bring up Taylor Green first and play him at 1B or 3B when Ramirez needs a day off. Plan C if it gets to that is to stay with Reynolds and Overbay at 1B. I do not see the Brewers trading for a 1B it is Morales or an internal option at this point for the Brewers.
  10. No Weeks should be the 5th batter especially against a LHP and especially when you have a bunch of weak OBP players in the rest of the lineup. You could make a case for Davis in the 5th spot but until he starts to take his walks I don't see that as being a good idea. This lineup is actually fairly good.
  11. Except Rickie only has a 6.7% IFH% against lefties so the ground ball argument is not valid. Scooters LD% against lefties in very limited PA's so far this year is 15.4% and Weeks against LHP is 20.6%. Basically the stats show that the platoon needs to continue as I don't see Gennett improving all that much against lefties and Weeks is not going to improve all that much against righties. Also Gennett does not have a 25% line drive rate so far this year he is at a 22.7% and Weeks is at a 21.2%. The stats really do show that Gennett needs to be platooned and the same is true for Weeks. Nothing should change in terms of Gennett's playing time against LHP and the same can be said about Weeks and his playing time against RHP.
  12. This is just not true at all. Scooter is a horrible hitter against LHP and he has been sliding like this since the end of last month.
  13. Estrada would probably become a long man in the bullpen, I'd guess. No as I don't believe the Brewers would keep Nelson up as he would reach super 2 status if he stays on the team all year.
  14. I believe the Bucks are going to trade out of the #2 pick. Well, Hammond has answered the question directly. I actually wanted to say to quote the article I read, but this is the one I could find quickly; His comments were a lot stronger in another article in which he stated that he feels relieved to have a new ownership group that understand that the Bucks are in multi-year rebuilding process and not looking for a quick fix. As I said earlier in this thread, how do we even know what John Hammond is really like as a GM? He'd been given a mandate to win when it was almost impossible. He's done well in the draft given the picks he's had with Giannis(who would be the #1 or #2 pick if the draft was redrafted right now), Sanders, Henson, Wolters and Brandon Jennings. He seems like he's had the right thought process the whole time, but has been hamstrung by an owner who wants to win, and who I believe wanted to win to help keep the team in Milwaukee by putting a winner out there and getting public support for a new stadium. I'm not saying he won't go with Parker. He may have a different view than me on Parker as most do....but he's made it clear he's not in a "win-now type of mode." Well I don't see the Bucks trading the pick for a player but for multiple picks in this draft I can definitely see that happening. I could also see the Bucks trading one of their many 2nd round picks and a player like Mayo to a team for a late or mid 1st round pick. I definitely see Cleveland trading out of the #1 spot which Philadelphia definitely has the right amount of picks to trade for the #1 pick. I believe trading with the Magic would be the most beneficial if you could get the #4 and #12 pick from Orlando. That could give you Exum and Young which would be a very good 1 and 2 guard option and that is really building for the future and is not a win now mode.
  15. I believe the Bucks are going to trade out of the #2 pick.
  16. If it means getting a pick this year and next year then it would be fine. But I don't really see any player who is going to be a franchise player in this draft. There are some players who could be good but I don't see someone that is going to be a franchise altering player well at least not in a positive way there are a few that could be a franchise killer at least.
  17. 1. Tyrone Taylor 2. Clint Coulter 3. Jimmy Nelson 4. Orlando Arcia 5. Mitch Haniger 6. Devin Williams 7. Taylor Jungmann 8. Hunter Morris 9. Victor Roache 10. David Goforth 11. Michael Reed 12. David Denson 13. Tyler Wagner 14. Jed Bradley 15. Tucker Neuhaus 16. Hiram Burgos 17. Chris McFarland 18. Tyler Cravy 19. Ariel Pena 20. Jose Pena Some thoughts on some of the players: Tyrone Taylor - He has looked really good in A+ ball I would like to see him improve his base stealing. Not sure if he is just not getting good jumps or if he is just not reading a pitchers move correctly. I am hoping Taylor improves in this part of his game because I believe he can be a 20 HR and 40 SB type of a player. Jed Bradley - He is finally pitching good but I am still concerned about him but hopefully the log jam of pitchers will clear up soon at the AA and AAA level. Bradley needs to be in AA. Clint Coulter - Probably the best prospect the Brewers have in terms of becoming an impact player. I really wish the Brewers would just be done with this and either try Coulter at 3B or in a corner OF spot. I believe you would see Coulter move up the prospect sheet once he has a more defined position. Ariel Pena - I am probably to high on Pena here but if he could ever locate his pitches he would become an impact pitching prospect for the Brewers but it is looking more and more like he will be in the bullpen. I really hope Pena learns to harness his pitches and becomes a dominating starter but I am starting to lose hope here.
  18. I think they are both equal in terms of talent and potential. I wouldn't say either of them are the best 1B of the future. I like Rogers a little bit better than both Morris and Ramirez.
  19. The kid probably also got a good laugh with Gomez. Carlos Gomez Googles Rich-People Conversations
  20. Pitchers need to throw the ball around more actually. Throwing a football around is probably a better idea though as your arm is able to stop the unnatural movement of throwing the ball as a football weighs more and thus creates more drag and it allows your arm to stop more naturally unlike a baseball which does not. Pitchers also need to throw the ball around more in the infield throwing the ball around in the infield a day after pitching is going to allow for muscle memory and will actually relax the muscles quicker. The more you do something the more efficient you become at it. So more repetitions is actually a good thing though I wouldn't suggest throwing from a mound every day you have to give your arm a rest. Throwing away from the mound which is less taxing on your arm is a better idea than completely not throwing the next day. There is also a flaw in how baseball players train especially pitchers. The majority of training is centered around football which doesn't really work with baseball especially for a pitcher. Pitchers are focusing way to much on muscles and throwing harder when they should really be focusing on dexterity training than with building muscles and being able to throw harder. Pitchers do not need to throw hard or even harder to be able to get hitters out a pitcher who can sit in the low to mid 90's is just as effective as a pitcher who throws in the mid to upper 90's. The fascination of pitchers who can throw 95-100 is to blame here as much as high pitch counts are to blame.
  21. Selection #16 - Arizona Diamondbacks 3B Michael Chavis, Sprayberry HS (GA). After trading Davidson to the White Sox the Dbacks have a hole at 3B and Chavis fills this hole rather well.
  22. There are better options defensively in the OF than Weeks and they are currently on the team in Gindl and Schaefer. Moving Weeks to the OF would not help the team in fact it would hurt the team so that arguement is dead. The only thing that it would help is get Weeks more AB's which I thought the majority did not want? It is better for the team if Weeks stays at 2B.
  23. If the Royals don't wake up soon Moustakas is someone I could see the Royals trading. He shouldn't cost all that much. Alex Gordon is another possibility but if he is on the market there is no way the Brewers have a chance to get him. The White Sox have a few good pieces that the Brewers could use. The Indians have Swisher who could become available if the Indians don't start to turn it around. I don't see an impact bat becoming available. The only options that I see are average to just above average players becoming available.
  24. Pennington isn't much of an upgrade over what the Brewers already have on the bench. I will pass on Pennington.
