  1. It is not really a logjam as the Brewers could put Morris along with Halton in the majors and if any of them struggle you just move them back to the minors and bring up the next person which in this case would be Seitzer. Basically just throwing something at the wall and seeing which one sticks. The only other option is to put Ramirez at 1B which might end up happening if Halton, Morris, etc. do not play well in spring training.
  2. The problem with Coulter is not his defense behind the plate but more along the lines of him staying healthy. Coulter is really the only player they have that has the potential to be an impact player. He would have more value as a catcher but that value is wasted if he is not playing everyday or is injured. Coulter has a better chance to be on the field everyday by playing 3B, 1B, or the OF than he does at catcher. Coulter having a higher value being a catcher will not mean anything if he is not staying healthy at the position.
  3. I wonder if a bullpen arm for Cameron Seitzer (yes he is the son of Kevin Seitzer) from the Rays would be enough. He probably isn't ready for the majors this year but he could be ready by the middle of the year or the latest next season. He hasn't really put up big numbers in the minors yet but I believe he would be a very good buy low option for the Brewers. If it only takes someone like Drew Gagnon or David Goforth I would do it but not anything higher than that. The most I would give up to get him would be either Hellweg but that would be pushing it though I don't believe Hellweg will make it as a started and would be someone the Rays would be looking at as a reliever. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=seitze000cam Seitzer really didn't have a good year last year but his plate discipline is rated as being advanced and his bat speed is rated between above average to a plus. Power wise he looks to be about the same as Loney though being 6'5" and 200+lbs doesn't really make much sense as he should have more power in his bat than he does. Maybe there is something in his swing that needs to be looked at so he gets more power.
  4. No the Dodgers resigned Uribe a couple of days ago so that hole is gone now. Link
  5. Some of these lists are just unrealistic. 1. Continue drafting based on the players tools and not on need. 2. Trade Ramirez for some young players. 3. Trade Gallardo for some young players. 4. Platoon Weeks and Gennett at 2B 5. Move Coulter from catcher to basically anywhere but catcher.
  6. Have you tried synchronize your phone with outlook? http://www.androidtapp.com/how-to-synch-your-outlook-calendar-google-calendar-and-android-phone-calendar/
  7. I've kicked around an idea of Weeks for Lind/Romero in my head a bit. It would be a pretty big risk, but Lind actually was pretty good last year, and from what I've read, Romero's issues are more mental/delivery than physical. I saw that the Jays were trying to dump Lind a few weeks ago to clear salary, but I have to wonder if they'd kick some money back just to rid themselves of Romero. Weeks is owed only about half of those two....maybe the Jays would kick in $5 million or so. The Jays asked for Walker when the Pirates asked about Lind. Why would the Jays trade Lind/Romero for Weeks?
  8. I certainly concur, I would have given up more if necessary to get him. However why would Melvin trade for a young MLB ready 3B when he has Ramirez? That's way outside his MO... Its like Melvin didn't even ask for Davidson when the Dbacks asked for Gallardo last year oh wait that did happen. Well there goes your theory. The Brewers don't have anyone that profiles like Reed unless you wanted Melvin to trade Thornburg for Davidson is that what you are suggesting?
  9. I would bet on Smoak being a better player in Milwaukee than he is in Seattle. Defensively though he is not all that great. Smoak is probably more likely than any of the players being discussed to bounce back and have a great year. Smoak is also the cheapest option in terms of a type of prospect that would need to be given up to get him. For a 1-year option there is Adam Dunn. But the Brewers would probably have to pickup a lot of his contract.
  10. Gennett is a perfectly fine 2B for a team that employs above-average to All Star potential players at RF (Braun), CF (Gomez), SS (Segura), C (Lucroy) and 3B (Ramirez). His line of .280/.330/.380 in the #8 hole will play just fine if surrounded by the aforementioned talent. I have no problem with Gennett batting anywhere from 7th or below. A platoon with Weeks is optimal IMHO.
  11. The Red Sox were never in on Morrison or Hart.
  12. Hanson and Hudson would be great buy low type of signings plus with the team the Brewers will be putting out next year this isn't a bad idea. If they play great that is a bonus and you receive another trade chip if not you just DFA them. It is a win win situation for the Brewers.
  13. No this team is awesome! Awesomely bad! Seriously though wasn't this the wish of some on here for the Bucks to completely tank and go after the draft picks?
  14. The Brewers did Parra just never listened.
  15. Where does Adams or Craig play then? Jay more than likely moves to RF at least as a platoon as I don't see the Cardinals getting rid of Jay. More than likely this means A Taveras+ trade for Tulo is probably being discussed.
  16. It has never taken me more than 5 min to get into the stadium. The only time it takes forever was on bobblehead days and that was 10 min at the most.
  17. How is this a great roster move when the Cardinals are now blocking their best prospect that is ready for the majors?
  18. Well that eliminates a SS for the Cardinals now.
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/giants-to-sign-tim-hudson.html Possible full no trade clause.
  20. Not really the team does have pitching it is just that removing Segura creates a bigger hole and when Gallardo, Lohse, Aoki, and Aram are gone the hole gets even bigger. Lohse will probably be traded at the middle of the season where his value should be the highest. The Brewers are not going to get a great prospect for him but a B type prospect is probable. Aram I wouldn't be surprised to see traded during this off season if he isn't then I don't see him being traded at all. Gallardo is someone the Brewers have to wait on meaning he has very little value right now and if they want to trade him they will have to wait until the deadline to do so. Again you can expect a B type prospect the Dbacks make sense here as Skaggs is that B type prospect and probably more along the B-/C+ type prospect in my opinion. Aoki maybe traded this off season but again I don't expect much in return right now the only team that was interested in Aoki has been the Mets and they were only willing to part with Davis for him. So the market for Aoki looks to be very limited though it could pick up if the Red Sox don't resign Ellsbury as Aoki fills a need in terms of OBP that the Red Sox will be losing. The A's make some sense here but I don't see them making a run on Aoki unless they get him at a return that is favorable to them. I could see the Orioles flipping Markakis for Aoki but that doesn't really help the Brewers out. The Mariners are a wild card for Aoki but I don't see them pursuing Aoki as they are looking for a middle of the order type of a bat and Aoki is definitely not that type of a player. The Brewers still have to field a team and there is no way Mark A is going to put a sub standard team on the field. I don't see this as a problem at all you can start the season with these players and then trade them during the middle of the year. The players could play over their heads and become very attractive during the trade deadline or at the end of the year giving the Brewers more pieces to acquire the talent they need. Prepare for a playoff matchup scenario? What is that? Pitching in the playoffs is not about playoff matchup scenario or whatever made up silly thing the talking heads come up with. Look at the 2007 playoffs Jeff Suppan was pitching like an ace. There are more examples of this where #5 type pitchers play above their heads because they get on a streak. How did the Rays do this year with their pitching staff? How about the Tigers? Both the Tigers and the Rays had better pitching staffs than the Red Sox yet they went on to win the World Series. While it is nice to have a great pitching staff it is not something that is essential to winning in the playoffs. The playoffs is baseball is still very much luck based as in which team is hot and which team is not. The Dodgers pitching staff was about equal to the Braves the biggest difference there was that Atlanta's offense was bad while the Dodgers was on a hot streak. When the Dodgers played the Cardinals there bats were cold and when the Cardinals played the Red Sox their offense was really cold along with some pitchers starting to get tired at the end of the year. There is more to the playoffs than pitching matchups as I wouldn't be surprised if the current Brewers pitching rotation would go out and have 4 great games and sweep the Cardinals the way the Cardinals offense was playing in the world series. This is a non factor as the Brewers were the only ones to exchange figures as Segura's agent said they were going to wait until the end of the season to exchange figures. This actually cost Segura some money as his offense declined during the second half of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if Segura and the Brewers work out an extension before spring training and the deal will be close to what Longoria received which was 6-years 17.5M it will be more than that but not all that much higher something like 6-years $20m with a team option for a 7th year.
  21. No I wouldn't trade Segura for Miller as it doesn't really improve the team all that much. Trading Segura for Miller doesn't really help the Brewers win now or in the next couple of years. It would be Ben Sheets all over again. Miller would be the ace and then no one behind him with very poor defense supporting him wouldn't be my idea of turning things around. Now if Miller was in AA I would do the trade but since he already has MLB service time I wouldn't trade Segura for Miller.
  22. Basically even thinking about trading Braun right now is not a good idea as you are not going to get anything close to the value you need to get back in trading him. Teams are not going to give up top tier prospects for Braun right now. The best option the Brewers can do is keep Braun right now and wait it out maybe in the future the Brewers will be able to trade him but not now as his value is really low at the moment.
  23. I am not sure why Taylor wouldn't be a top 100 prospect. Billy Hamilton is a top 50 talent and if a 4th or 5th OF is a top 50 talent why wouldn't Taylor be a top 100 prospect? Sometimes I wonder about these rankings it is like some fall in love with a prospect and become completely delusional about that player until they absolutely fall flat on their face. Last year Hamilton's walks went down by half and his average and OBP both took significant hits. If a .250/.308 hitter is a top 50 talent in AAA then we have some problems here with the prospect rankings as this should not be a top 50 player I do not care how many steals you get as a .308 OBP is horrible for a player who is there to steal bases. Along with the horrible OBP Hamilton has very poor plate discipline shown by his 102 strike outs last year and 38 walks. If Taylor is not in the top 100 prospect list and Hamilton is again in the top 50 I have lost faith in Baseball America being subjective at all in their prospect rankings.
  24. Firing Hammond wouldn't do anything as Kohl would just put another person in who would do exactly the same thing Hammond is doing right now. The only thing that is going to change this is if Kohl sells the team and if he does that the Bucks are moving to Seattle.
