  1. I'm not surprised by it as he would be a lock to be taken in the Rule 5 draft. Prince would make a very good utility player for any team.

  3. I agree on the Brewers and Red Sox but disagree with the Yankees and Dbacks. The Rays actually make perfect sense here as they have young pitching that are both MLB ready and a few years away. The Rays also have a couple of interesting positional prospects. Moore/Hellickson and another prospect like Cobb or Mahtook should be enough for Stanton. The Rays need a power bat and the Marlins need to be more cheap again.
  4. I believe the Brewers were in on Reyes last year but wouldn't give him that extra year that the Marlins would give him and then the Brewers went with Gonzalez and Ramirez over just Reyes. I can see why the Brewers are linked to Hamilton I just don't see it as a reality. Reyes rumors last year were real and I just don't believe the Hamilton ones are this year.
  5. They are trying to get Justin Upton from the Diamondbacks and will then flip that SS prospect for Upton.
  6. I think Selig needs to step in here and kill this trade and then force Loria to sell the Marlins. This trade does not help out baseball at all as it may kill it for the city of Miami. Why would you as a fan go see this team when you will never know for sure who is going to be on that team and if your team is ever going to be competitive? They got a new stadium and have some nice talent so I don't see a reason why someone wouldn't want to come in and buy this team. I hope Selig comes in and kills this trade as this is just not good at all for baseball and hopefully the owners see this also and vote on getting rid of Loria.
  7. Segura and its not even close.
  8. Dickey should be a mid season target where you won't have to give up as much as you would now. I would be fine if it was Schafer and a low level prospect for Dickey but I don't believe that will get it done at all. It looks like the Rays are now open to trading some of their young pitching but the Brewers don't have the pieces they would want in return. Morris and Davis are probably the only two that would interest the Rays but they are not enough to get anyone of note. The Brewers should be looking to add from the Rays but the pieces just don't fit for a trade at this time.
  9. Peralta wasn't on a one year deal prior to resigning with the Rays he avoided arbitration his final year. I wouldn't be surprised if Rodney signs an extension with the Rays this off season and they have done this in the past. Joel Peralta 2 years/$6M (2013-14), plus 2015 option re-signed by Tampa Bay as a free agent 11/4/12 13:$3M, 14:$3M, 15:$2.5M option Fernando Rodney 1 year/$2M (2012), plus 2013 club option signed by Tampa Bay as a free agent 1/4/12 12:$1.75M, 13:$2.5M club option ($0.25M buyout) Tampa Bay exercised 2013 option 10/31/12 The Peralta and Rodney contracts are exactly the ones I have been suggesting. If you read over the second part of my post you would see that. Both Howell and Wilson would fit in with both of the signings that would be similar to what the Brewers would have to pay for these players. Again there are a lot of options in FA this year where there are players who are better than Stinson's and will still be relatively cheap. This is what the Rays do they exploit the market when they can and sign players to multi year deals at a low rate.
  10. I couldn't agree more with this stance. I'd much rather see the Brewers put a guy like Stinson in the MLB bullpen for a year than get suckered into a multi-year deal for a Proven Veteran™. But but but the Rays are the greatest organization ever and they run things perfectly and they do the opposite of what is being said here. This isn't against you or anyone really but I find it rather ironic that everyone wants to be like the Rays but when you suggest something that the Rays are doing people flip out and say you shouldn't be doing that. The Brewers really do need to be aggressive in the FA market this year for relievers as there are a lot of quality relievers out there which is going to bring down some of the prices. Signing someone like Howell or Wilson to a one or two year deal with options for a second or third year are not that bad. I am not talking about giving a reliever $10m a season I am talking about doing what the Rays have been doing and which is giving guys contracts that total about $5-8m over two to three years. I would much rather see the Brewers bring in someone like Howell or Wilson into the bullpen on one or two year deals and I don't even care that they are veterans to me they are better options than what the Brewers currently have in the minors like Stinson.
  11. No. Aram is about 10 times the player Arod is currently.
  12. I really loved the book and I am hoping the movie will at least be as good. I have stopped expecting movies that were originally a book to be anything like the book or to have the same depth as when I read that book.
  13. http://m.espn.go.com/mlb/story?w=1cbb7&storyId=8610003&disableShare=true&adBlock=block&i=SC&hidePageFooter=true&hidePageHeader=true Rangers only offering 3 years max to Hamilton? I am officially scared now!
  14. it would be nice but i HIGHLY doubt we have what it would take. if we do have enough, it would cripple our system worse then it already is. I'm not so sure about that. The Dbacks have really soured on Bauer and he maybe someone the Brewers could get rather cheaply. I would still try and explore a Gallardo for Upton, Bauer, and a low level prospect trade but I believe the Dbacks are one of the teams that are on Gallardo's list that he can block a trade to. I believe the Brewers could do something like Fiers, Rogers, and Prince for Bauer. I think I would do that deal as I am not confident in Rogers staying healthy and I believe Fiers is going to regress and be more like Collmenter was this year for the Dbacks. Prince is a utility player and not really worth much and depending on how far the Dbacks have soured on Bauer this could be a rather realistic trade scenario. Regardless I don't see Bauer bringing back more than one solid piece in a trade. Another option would be to trade Gennett for Bauer straight up this would be kind of like the Garza for Young trade the Twins and the Rays did.
  15. I found this to be very interesting: http://baseballprospectnation.com/2012/10/31/scouting-report-josh-prince-of/
  16. Not a guru but the Brewers have a bunch of #3's 4's and 5's which some have the ceilings of #1's or 2's if everything goes perfectly. Peralta is probably the only one who has a ceiling as a #1 type of a pitcher. Jungmann is close but he needs a third pitch and he needs to work on locating his pitches better. Ceiling for Jungmann is Cain if everything goes perfectly but will probably be more around someone like an Edwin Jackson.
  17. Don't forget you also have a lot of filler guys like Liriano who when he is on is a #1 or #2 type pitcher. There is also McCarthy who is a good #3 or #2 type of a pitcher when healthy. This is a rather deep FA class this year for pitching in general there are plenty of bullpen arms also available.
  18. TLB I think Jackson will get something close to what Wilson got last year from the Angels. Ironically the Angels maybe the signing team if they do not get Greinke.
  19. No thanks! I would rather go long term with someone like Jackson than a short term with Colon.
  20. I think you are right on holding judgement on this team as it is going to be an up and down season with probably more downs than ups.
  21. I believe this is what we can expect from the Bucks this year hot at times and then extremely cold. The Bucks though are in better shape than the Celtics.
  22. This is probably closer to what it will take to sign Jackson 5 years/$77.5M. That is CJ Wilson's contract from last year which Jackson should get close to. He probably won't get 5-years but 3-years with an option for a 4th is very realistic. Money wise you are looking at probably 3 years/43.5 with a team option for a fourth year at $17m or a $3.5m buyout. I don't think Jackson will even listen for anything less than 13-15m annually.
  23. The Yankees will offer Kuroda a QO. Do you really want to lose a pick by signing Kuroda?
  24. Blasphemy! The greatest NFL team ever wears orange and blue!!
  25. I really hope not. This franchise lives in the past enough. Really? I liked that logo more so than any other of the Brewers logos it was rather good and creative. I like because it was a good logo not because of the past.
