  1. Both have been injured this year. The Giants are not going to offer Wilson arbitration as Wilson is going to get a lot in arbitration and I don't see the Reds picking up his option. I also don't see any team giving Madson or Wilson 10 mil a year after they didn't even pitch a full season this year. I believe both got injured early on in the year. Madson will be lucky to get a deal around $2-5m a year let alone $10m a year. There has been speculation that teams may stay away from Madson and he may only get a spring training invite from teams due to his injury.
  2. Queue the "unproven" argument and the usual assortment of posts on both sides. Some may do this but I have other reasons. Henderson needs to cut down on his walks and I am not all that impressed with his off speed pitches. I wouldn't mind Henderson taking over what Veras job was earlier in the year it wouldn't be ideal for me but still better than Veras. As for Kintzler I just don't see him as being a late inning reliever his stuff is just not all that great. A nice bullpen arm but I wouldn't put him in a high leverage situation. To me either Madson or Wilson would be more ideal as the late inning pitcher. Try to strike it rich with a bounce back type of a year player. If they don't work out you cut them no big loss as neither Madson or Wilson are going to get anything more than a 1-year deal around $1-4m. This is basically the Rays way of doing things pick up a player either through a trade or FA for the bullpen and throw them at the wall and see if they stick. Fernando Rodney, Joel Peralta, and a few others that I am forgetting right now are prime examples of this. Both Rodney and Peralta were FA signings by the Rays and they both sucked or had bad years prior and the Rays just took a flier on them. If the Brewers could do a Rodney like contract with either Wilson or Madson that would be ideal. The biggest addition should be Howell though the Brewers should try and get him as I believe he could be the guy the Brewers need in the bullpen.
  3. I agree but the Brewers need to bring in some insurance just in case Axford has another year like this year. Madson and Wilson could be available. Both will be coming off of injuries. If the Giants release Wilson this off season he should be the guy the Brewers should look at along with Madson and Howell to improve the bullpen. I don't see Henderson or Kintzler as viable late inning relievers but they should be fine replacing Loe and Veras.
  4. While I agree for the most part with your post, I just can not get behind having Henderson and Kintzler in the bullpen as late inning releivers. They will be fine in replacing Loe, Parra, and Veras but thats about it. I agree with Howell being a good piece to get for next years bullpen. I would like to see the Brewers take a chance on either Madson or Wilson. I think the Giants might let Wilson go after this season.
  5. I thought Ronnie "Woo Woo" became a Pirates fan.

  7. Just 1.5 games back wow. This team kind of feels like the Rays last year down the stretch in September.
  8. 1 more steal and Braun will have a 30-30 season! Aram! Awesome!
  9. Nice article and Richard Justice is not something that should go in a sentence ever unless it is describing how bad of a journalist he is.
  10. I don't know but I am not sure what is more annoying the woo or that dang horn?
  11. Peralta joins Greinke and Fiers as the only Brewers pitchers to go more than 7 IP this year. Greinke 3 times, Peralta 1, and Fiers 1.
  12. I'm just following the game on Gameday, but was Wily attempting to bunt before the pickoff? If I had to guess RRR would have called for the sac bunt No, he was leaning to far.
  13. For the most part yes. Most of the people doing the recruiting for them are just old used car salesman who know nothing about HR or the jobs that they are trying to get people for. Most of it is a sales thing so they do good at that but the majority of them are extremely horrible at the HR side of things. Basically they know the job description and that is it and sometimes they don't even know that. If you are seriously interested in a position that a staffing agency has you basically have to call them a lot and do not leave a message as they don't normally call back. You just have to keep on contacting them and reminding them you are interested in a certain position that has been posted. On the recruiter side as I know someone who works at a staffing agency she has told me that about 95% of the applications she receives for jobs are people who are not qualified at all for the job. They are just basically submitting their paperwork to get their unemployment check. Of the 5% who are qualified for the job only about 2-3% actually call her back and the ones that do call her back the company finds a problem with them and wants someone more experienced who is willing to take less to do more. My advice again is to just keep on hounding the recruiter and trying to get in contact with them. Just putting in an application or submitting your resume is not enough.
  14. Upton is a free agent after this season. Gomez though would be to expensive for the Rays and Maldonado would just be a throw in player in a deal involving Shields. Hart could make sense for the Rays as they don't have that many 1B options right now. The Rays have plenty of OF so I don't see them wanting Hart to play there. If the Rays could get Hart on a cheap extension 2-years around $18m added onto his contract I could see them doing that but that would all depend on what the Rays think of Hart as a 1B. I don't believe going after Shields would be the right move for the Brewers. I would be more interested in someone like Cobb who really hasn't blossomed in the majors and is somewhat of a question mark and see if the Rays would give us Cobb for Gamel straight up. I am not sure the Rays would do this but it is something I would explore with the Rays in trading Gamel for one of their younger starting pitchers.
  15. 1 of 2 isn't bad. Loved me some Ron Gant back then too. I still have my Terry Pendelton Golden Topps card. Not sure why I do.
  16. That is one thing about Gomez you can't really question his hustle or how hard he plays every game. I just wish he would play more towards his potential.
  17. I love this guy. Really hope he can come back & contribute again down the stretch for ATL. Definitely love Sheets and he is still my favorite.
  18. Regardless of if Loe should or should not have thrown the pitch in the dirt it is the catchers job to block those pitches. It wasn't a tough pitch to block either again Lucroy's fault there as he put the runner in scoring position.
  19. Ummm that was all on Lucroy there. If he blocks that third strike the runner doesn't advance. Again that is all on Lucroy there.
  20. This is a rather nice pick up. If he can ever figure out how to effectively control his stuff he could be a good late inning reliever. He does have a rather good K/9 at 10.7 K/9 and it would put him around the top 5-10 pitchers in the system with that stat. The walks are really the biggest concern for him but at age 24 he still has some time to mature yet. I find this rather odd that the Rangers let him go as he is still young yet and he has some good pitches it is just his control that is bad. A nice scouting report on De Los Santos: http://www.lonestarball.com/2012/2/21/2813063/miguel-de-los-santos-scouting-report
  21. I found this rather interesting with Weeks and McCann. Look at the last two years. http://www.fangraphs.com/comparison.aspx?playerid=4810&position=C&page=0&players=1849 Reason why I am comparing Weeks and McCann is because they are both having a disappointing year. Weeks .230/.332/.395 McCann .231/.300/.409
  22. The Brewers players play at the Phoenix Municipal Stadium (Home games) located at 5999 East Van Buren. Which is just west of Sky harbor and it is right next to the Zoo. A map of all the stadiums. http://phoenix.about.com/library/blmapAFLstadiums.htm I prefer the Salt River Fields or the Peoria Sports Complex over the Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
  23. Not really trying to state is a fact just my opinion of AAA. It maybe right it maybe wrong but it is just my opinion. Sorry if it is coming off as I am stating this as a fact as that is not my intention. Oh I am being patient with him but I feel as though his path to get better is playing everyday with the Brewers and not in AAA. I just feel that he is going to see better talent with the Brewers and it really is detriment to him progressing as a player by playing in AAA next as in my opinion the talent in AAA is just not that good. I don't believe its any harder for a player to jump from AA to the majors than it is to go from AAA to the majors. The talent gap is not that much as the veterans like Suppan and Patterson bring the talent level really far down in AAA again this is my opinion.
  24. No it isn't. The talent level in AAA is higher than AA. Yes there are more prospects in AA but that is because AAA also has MLB fringe players while AA doesn't and AA is where prospects loose their prospect status. The talent level in AAA is not higher than it is at AA. I'm sorry but the Jeff Suppans and others like him bring the talent level of AAA down by a lot there are also players who are just roster space for the team that they are on. There are more Suppan like players in AAA than there are in AA. The talent level at AAA is not even all that good most teams just stash veterans down there like Corey Patterson. I just can not see how AAA has a higher talent level than AA. Plus Segura doesn't have anything to prove he should be in the majors not in AA or AAA next year.
