  1. I prefer Krod over Axford against Howard because of Krod's change up. Also why does Green's picture look like The Show's randomly generated rookie picture when they are showing the players due up?
  2. Only time Morgan should be in center is late in a game or against a right handed pitcher. Morgan should never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever (get the point yet?) be in against a lefty. I also like McGehee over Green when a lefty is pitching even though the stats don't suggest that I just prefer having Green on the bench late than McGehee.
  3. Man at 2nd with 1 out > no one on with two outs.
  4. I completely agree and if the White Sox are looking for a pitcher this offseason I wouldn't even think twice about trading Marcum for Escobar.
  5. Why can't they just keep it the way it is with DH in AL parks and no DH in NL? I don't know what interleague play everyday has to do with it. Because the NL team will have a disadvantage when playing in AL parks. Instead of only having to play 9 or 6 games on the road at an AL park you are now doing this for a whole season. This now puts the NL at a disadvantage when playing at an AL park more so than in the past. That is what interleague play everyday has to do with it. You will also have the AL complaining that their pitchers will have to hit more now in NL parks. The players union may also block or petition the Astros from moving from the NL to the AL because of this. I just can not see how the NL won't have the DH in the future if there is going to be interleague play everyday. Right now you have NL teams who will call up players from the minors to play as their DH. The players union will argue now that there will be more times that the DH will be used that the NL should also have the DH rule. Since the players union will then have the backing of the teams in the AL I do not see how the NL will not either be forced to have the DH rule or end up having it because of the new scheduling changes.
  6. It was more rust than anything. He almost made the play on the double which he normally makes it looked as though he was just a step behind the ball most MLB CF won't even come two or three steps close to a ball like that. Another week or two and Gomez will be making those catches and making them look easy. That triple was just a bad route that Gomez took though it looked as though he was going to make the catch at first. He really didn't have a chance at it unless he dove but he was to far away to do that and it was just a bad route that he took to the ball.
  7. So with the Astros more than likely moving over to the AL that gives the NL and AL 15 teams which means there needs to be interleague play every day. The DH won't come right away but I believe the DH will be in the NL by 2016. There is no way to fight it really and I am not really against it or for the DH rule but it will be coming. I actually do not see how 15 teams in each league with interleague play happening every day will not include the DH at all times. This then creates a real disadvantage to a NL team that doesn't have a designated DH full time. I do not see the DH going away so that is not going to happen as the players union has a death grip on this and they will not let this go without some serious compensation for it. I am not sure I will like this but it is coming as I can not see how it is not with interleauge play every day.
  8. Hughes for Marcum doesn't really make much sense for the Brewers or the Yankees. Hughes would be the Yankees #4 starter in their rotation next year. A Marcum for Banuelos would be more realistic for both teams. As for a Marcum extension I believe this is what Marcum would get on the open market 5 years and $80m which is way more than what the Brewers should pay for Marcum. The ideal extension for me with Marcum would be 3 years at $36m and I don't see Marcum doing that kind of a deal especially if he goes the free agency route he will get at least 2 more years and double the amount. I would rather lock down Greinke to a long term extension and then go from there and trade Marcum away.
  9. The market this winter for starting pitchers is going to be sellers market. Since there isn't many if any big name starting pitchers in the free agency market the trade market is going to be big. Edwin Jackson and Yu Darvish are the two big names on the free agency market. One of them will sign with the Yankees or the Red Sox. The Yankees are completely starving for a starting pitcher to go behind Sabathia and the Red Sox need another starter behind Buchholz and Lester. The White Sox are going to need a starting pitcher and the Mariners look like they can compete for the AL West next year they need some more bats but Marcum behind Pineda and Felix would be a rather good rotation. With the Yankees and the Red Sox needing starting pitching and if they both do not get Darvish then I would expect them to go the trade route as the rest of the pitchers on the market are not that good. I wouldn't be surprised to see Jackson sign with the Nationals or the Orioles. After that you have CJ Wilson who I believe will resign with the Rangers. If the Red Sox, White Sox, and the Yankees are looking for starters there is going to be a very small amount of starters on the market to choose from thus creating a sellers market. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Brewers get something better in return than what they gave up. Marcum is in line to get something like $10-12m for next season. I would rather see the Brewers trade Marcum than lock him up because Marcum is going to get paid like a #1 or #2 pitcher in the range of $13-17m a year. That is going to be a bad contract for the Brewers.

  11. I'm not comparing Marcum to Suppan I just stated that Marcum has a Suppan like fastball. Nothing comparing the two about their results or anything of that matter. You are reading way to much into what I put. Marcum is also not going to get a 3 or 4 year deal he will get a 5 or 6 year deal. No way should the Brewers do 4 years let alone 5 or 6 years with Marcum. Marcum's contract will come back and haunt the Brewers if they do sign him long term.
  12. No that is the worst case scenario. The Brewers will regret signing Marcum to a long term deal. I would rather trade Marcum than sign him to a long term extension Marcum is just not someone who is going to age well. He has a fastball like Suppan and will have to rely on locating very well. I just do not see Marcum being all that good and he is already 29 and going to be 30 this year. He is not going to age very well I would rather see the Brewers trade Marcum for a SS this winter than extend him.

  14. I don't think the team has to be blown up it is just the perfect example of how the Brewers will be able to compete in the future. I don't really want to see Marcum locked up at all as I would rather see him traded. With the trades that I would make would be more about 2013-2017 than 2012 and I believe the fans would recognize this. Plus this allows the Brewers to extend Greinke which would show more for the future than anything else. The 2012 rotation would look bad but having Narveson as the #3 is basically the default here. Doubront is a possible #2 or #3 pitcher. After 2012 is when the rotation really starts to set in. With a year under their belts in Doubront and Peralta they now move to the #3 and #4 spots that leaves Narveson, Scarpetta, and others fighting for that last spot. The Wolf trade to the Mariners could be the best deal here if Green doesn't pan out at 3B or Gamel or Anderson don't pan out at either 1B or RF Liddi can fill in at either 1B or 3B as he has very good power. If the Brewers don't trade Marcum or Wolf I don't see how the Brewers are going to be competitive after 2012 especially if Greinke and Marcum leave through free agency.
  15. Don't most games/systems come with a method of syncing you up with the TV? I haven't really looked at much on my 360, but it does have settings for 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. All of those result in a slightly different amount of lag, but no discernible difference in picture for me. but I know guitar hero had something to sync up in the options menu. Anybody know where that is on the ps3. Highlighting the box for 1080p doesn't really do anything. It's a 1080p tv and the game is supposed to be best in 720p I believe. But, i don't really know how to synch the tv and ps3 to run at the same resolution or whatever. I mean, does it mean that the tv has to be set at 720p or the ps3, or both. And if it's both, I have no idea to change the tv, not even sure that is possible. My PS3 automatically goes to 720p if that is what the game requires and my TV will go to that resolution. One way to find out what resolution your TV is at is to hit the info button on your remote for your TV it will tell you what resolution you are in or at least all of the TV's I have owned have done this. As for MLB the Show there is an option to change how fast the pitches are simulated at in the gameplay options. Try messing with that also I noticed with my TV I have to swing really fast and I can't see where the pitch is going before I swing so I have made the ball travel slower to be able to give me more time to see where it is going.
  16. I don't think the Brewers need someone at 3B as they have an internal option in Green even if the Brewers are currently not looking at Green right now over McGehee. I had this trade going through my head with the Yankees needing a #3 starter to go behind Sabathia and Hughes. I wonder if the Yankees would do a Banuelos and Yadil Mujica would be something the Yankees would look at. Yadil Mujica is a very good fielding SS but he has no bat and would be worse offensively than Betancourt but his defense would be the best since the Brewers had Escobar. I would rather the Brewers do Banuelos and Austin Romine. Romine would become the Brewers catcher of the future he has a nice bat and would become the best defensive catcher in the Brewers farm system and would probably jump up as the Brewers #1 prospect. I don't think the Brewers could get Banuelos and Romine for a deal involving only Marcum but it could happen depending on how desperate the Yankees get in finding a good #3 pitcher. If the Yankees miss out on Darvish I wouldn't be surprised if they traded Montero and another prospect not named Banuelos to a team for a good #2 or #3 starter. But I see Montero being the backup catcher for the Yankees in 2012 and their part time DH. Another trade that I think maybe possible would be with the White Sox. The White Sox need a #3 like pitcher and the Brewers need a SS. Eduardo Escobar is currently blocked and a swap of Marcum for Escobar may not be a bad trade for either team. With Alexi Ramirez signed through 2015 Escobar is going to be blocked for a long time unless the White Sox move Ramirez over to second and have Escobar at SS but then that leaves Beckham who really isn't a 3B offensively. The only thing I don't like about Escobar is that he strikes out a lot and he doesn't walk at all. He has the same tools as Alcides Escobar has though and basically the same problems offensively. Defensively Eduardo Escobar is ready to play in the majors but his bat is just not ready though he is only 22 years old and he still has some time yet to become better offensively. To me this would be the best possible trade the Brewers may get. I do not really see the Red Sox giving up Iglesias for Marcum unless somehow they get Reyes in free agency which is possible but I don't think they are going to give out another big contract like that. The Red Sox are not as bad in their rotation as the Yankees are they need bullpen help more than a starter. The trades I would like to see the Brewers do would be something like a Marlins fire sale. Marcum to the White Sox for Eduardo EscobarMcGehee to the Indians for Luis Valbuena and Matt Packer Hart and Rogers to the Red Sox for Lars Anderson and Felix Doubront Gomez to the Rays for UptonWolf to the Mariners for Alex Liddi I am not sure on the Gomez for Upton trade as the Rays are more likely to be looking for a relief pitcher for Upton than someone like Gomez. Gomez though brings the same amount of production with better defense that Upton brings to the Rays currently plus every time I simulate 5-years on MLB the Show the Brewers somehow always trade for Upton or sign him very weird. I believe the Wolf trade is probably more fantasy than reality but Marcum to the Mariners for Liddi and another prospect would be more realistic. I like the Red Sox deal the most as I think Lars Anderson could play a passable OF or the Brewers could move Gamel to RF as he has the arm and athleticism to play RF and have Anderson play 1B. Felix Doubront is the wild card here I am not sure the Red Sox would give him up in that deal Drake Britton is probably more of a realistic option and I would actually prefer Britton over Doubront potential wise. I don't think the Brewers would be the main contenders in 2012 with a fire sale like that but they would be set up for future success unlike now. With these trades the Brewers lineup would look like this:1. Weeks 2B2. Upton/Morgan CF3. Anderson 1B4. Braun LF5. Gamel RF6. Lucroy C7. Green 3B8. Escobar SS9. Pitcher Bench: Valbuena, Morgan/Upton, Kottaras, Hairston, Ludwick Starting rotation:Greinke, Gallardo, Narveson, Peralta, DoubrontBullpen:Axford, Packer, Estrada, Loe, De La Cruz, McClendon, Kintzler
  17. Not to derail this thread anymore but I would rather see the Brewers play the Phillies than the Braves. The Braves bullpen is by far better than the Phillies and it isn't even close. I would rather face the Phillies and their rotation with their not so great bullpen than I would want to face the Braves and their good rotation with an excellent bullpen. The Braves offensively are about the same as the Phillies. I just see the Brewers matching up better against the Phillies than they do against the Braves. As for Gamel he will be called up when the AAA season is over along with some others. I would expect Parra to go on the 60 day DL soon. Green was only called up because he is better defensively at 3B and brings more offensive capabilities than anyone else currently on the bench can bring that is why Green was called up before Gamel. I really wish the Brewers would have had Gamel at multiple positions this year especially in the OF as I would rather have him get some reps in the OF so he could possibly play there in 2012.
  18. Tejada is worse than Yuni at SS.
  19. Why? Tejada is worse than Betancourt.
  20. The Mets can afford that contract and if the Phillies decide that Reyes would be better than Rollins going forward they could also afford that contract. The Red Sox are another team that could look at Reyes at SS even the Yankees could be a possibility moving Jeter to 3B/DH. Another team that could be in on Reyes would be the Angels as he would fit in perfectly with their style of play. A team to keep a close eye on would be the Nationals as they could go after Reyes also. Now the teams with outside chances are the Brewers and the Cardinals. If both the Brewers and the Cardinals miss out on their own free agents I wouldn't be surprised if these two teams went after Reyes. Would it be wise for the Brewers to do it? No this wouldn't be a wise decision by the Brewers to do this. The Cardinals who have Berkman as option B if Pujols leaves would likely go after Reyes.
  21. Reyes is going to get a $100m+ deal it is going to be the years that he is not going to get due to his injury. The amount he is going to get paid is going to be about the same maybe $2-4m less a year but that really isn't all that much. The years is what Reyes will be losing not the amount of his contract. 5-yrs with the 5th being a vesting option at $105m sounds about right what Reyes will get on the open market.
  22. Over react much? Seriously calling a manager an idiot because he is not calling a player a loser in the media? What do you expect him to say. Did you expect him to put him under the bus? Hairston right now shouldn't be starting or playing part time at SS as he is needed in CF or do you want Kotsay in CF? How about we bring back Felipe Lopez to play 2B while Hairston is playing SS that would be a great idea right? Right now Hairston needs to be playing either 2B or CF. Having McGehee and Betancourt has not cost the team much so far this season yes the record maybe 2 or 4 games better but the outcome is still the same as it is now. Hairston needs to be playing at 2B and CF so RR is actually helping the team not hurting it like you are saying. It maybe you who really doesn't understand anything about baseball.

  24. This now absolutely means Green is not a PTBNL in the Krod deal.
