  1. Dillard is not a starter. There is more to pitching than CG's especially in the minors. Dillard's stuff is basically that of a bullpen guy or an emergency starter ie you don't have anyone else on your roster who can go more than 3 innings.
  2. Loney doesn't stink. He was 1 point below average with a 99 OPS+ this season. I wouldn't call that a bad $5m investment for a player that is basically giving you about league average production. I wouldn't be surprised to see Loney have a break out year if he played anywhere but in the NL West.

Someone like Garza or Billingsley are going to be the best options that you will get that will help the team next year. Other options would be A and AA guys who won't help out for next year which this scenario is not taking into consideration. So with that being said Billingsley or Garza types would be the best options in going for it next year. The cash can come from either the Dodgers or the Brewers I just put that in there as that would be needed for the Rays. The Brewers would probably receive a low level prospect or two for Fielder in that deal but that isn't really important since it wouldn't impact the 2011 team so I left that part out. Relievers generally don't get much in return when you trade them.
  4. I know the Orioles have been linked with having interest in Martinez and playing him at 1B, C, and DH. It wouldn't be a bad move to sign Martinez and have him as the backup or emergency catcher and then have him play primarily at 1B though that would mean either Gamel or McGehee need to be traded. How about this scenario: 3-team trade: Billingsley to the Brewers; Loney, Gomez, McClendon, and cash to the Rays; Prince, Parra, and Upton to the Dodgers. I am not sure the Rays accept that offer but it would replace an expensive Upton with a cheaper option in Gomez and Loney will be cheaper than any free agent the Rays could pick up. McGehee plus a low prospect to the Marlins for Nolasco. FA Signing: Beltre to play 3B. Lineup: 1. Weeks 2B 2. Gamel 1B 3. Beltre 3B 4. Braun LF 5. Hart RF 6. Cain CF 7. Lucroy C 8. Escobar SS 9. Pitcher Rotation: Gallardo, Billingsley, Nolasco, Wolf, Rogers/Narveson/Capuano Bullpen: Axford, Coffey, Braddock, Hawkins, (2 of) Rogers/Narveson/Capuano, and Loe. Bench: Inglett, Cruz, Kottaras, Farris, and Katin That would give the Brewers a great rotation. I am not sure of the 3-team trade there seems to be something missing for the Rays and I just can't find that piece in the Dodgers system. Might have to add a positional player from the Brewers farm system to get that trade to work. That rotation would be the best rotation in the NL and would rival that of the Yankees and Rays rotation. Offense would be the big question mark here. Will Gamel and Beltre be able to replace Prince's production? Hart won't do what he did this year again next year so you have to expect some regression from him. The bullpen maybe a little shaky though.
  5. No thanks they are over priced. I only shop at Newegg or Tiger Direct if I need PC parts. Way to expensive at Milwaukee PC.
  6. So you wouldn't have given that contract to Braun or Gallardo? You would have gone year to year with them like Prince?
  7. Except the Angels are not looking to shed payroll but to add payroll. They are looking to go all out and sign Carl Crawford at whatever the cost may be. Trading Santana doesn't make sense unless it is for Fielder for the Angels. No the Brewers should not trade for Piniero either that is the complete opposite of where they should be going for a trade. As for Kazmir he is done and he is not effective at all he has a FIP of 5.83! That is with a majority of his starts in a pitchers ball parks. There is no way that the Brewers should trade for Kazmir unless the Angels are paying for 80-100% of Kazmir's contract. The Angels match up nicely with the Brewers but none of your trades make sense for either the Angels or for the Brewers.
  8. I would rather offer Vazquez a deal around $4m for a 1-year contract than either of Webb or Young who will be looking to get a similar deal. Webb won't be available until about June or July at the earliest and he won't be able to pitch much more than 100 innings unless you want to be the A's and have an injury to Webb like Sheets had.
  9. Just watching Braun play LF I can tell he is as bad as his UZR. Sometimes some things are best not to post at all like the first part of your post. There is no need to question someones baseball knowledge because you disagree with a stat. Anyone who immediately discount something without proof is the real person who should be questioning their own knowledge.
  10. Adam Dunn right now has a -2.3 UZR/150 this year and Braun has a -10.5 UZR/150 this year. If Braun can play defense like Dunn that is a win win situation for the Brewers. The increase in the quality of the defense in LF would be a huge improvement for the team.
  11. That was my point. Even without clinching there was near sell outs. If the Brewers would have been able to clinch a playoff spot on Wednesday against the Mets that would have been a sell out. I just don't believe the Rays are in a city that is going to allow them to succeed even if they get a new stadium. They will still have the same problems that they are having now even with a new stadium.
  12. Most are yes. I currently work at U.S. Bank and I know we have rates that are close to what is on that web page. You might want to check this out just for the reading there is some good information on this page http://www.usbank.com/cgi...cing_your_home.cfm The best part is you can e-mail a representative and they will get back to you rather quickly. I would first shop around though. Use that first website that I had and look at the rates that other banks are offering in your area.

  15. And what fielding instincts would you need at 1B? How many times does a 1B really have to field a ball that is not thrown to him? Pujols wasn't all that great at 3B or LF for that matter and look he is a decent 1B. 1B is not all that difficult and it is not a premium defensive position. Braun would actually improve the Brewers defense if he was at 1B versus being in the OF.
  16. And statistically speaking Braun is almost as bad as Soriano is in LF. Braun is the worst defensive OF the Brewers have right now on the team. I would rather have Hart take over in LF than have him at 1B.
  17. If you sign Crawford or Werth who moves to 1B then? I would have to believe it would be Braun who would be moved to 1B since he would be the weakest of the 4 OF on the team then. I wouldn't mind an OF of Crawford, Cain, and Hart that would actually be a rather good OF. I don't see the Brewers moving Weeks though and I don't see McGehee playing 2B at all at least not good. I believe McGehee's value to the Brewers is more valuable at 3B than it would be at 2B his defense would nearly cancel out any value he would have offensively. Don't even talk about 2009 as being anything for McGehee at 2B he didn't play enough 2B in 2009 for you to even draw up a conclusion if he could or if he couldn't play 2B. I am leaning towards more of him not being able to play a decent enough of a 2B based on his defense this year at 3B which needs less range than a 2B needs. I just do not see how you can believe McGehee would be even remotely valuable at 2B for the Brewers. If McGehee isn't playing 3B for the Brewers in 2011 then he better be at 1B or was traded. Having him play 2B will be a disaster. The Brewers are probably going to cut payroll by about $10 million which is about what Prince made this year so there is your payroll cut.
  18. In the west Portland, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City make the most sense. I am not sure another team in California would make sense there are already 5 teams (Dodgers, A's, Padres, Giants, and Angels) in the state of California. I don't think the state of New York or New Jersey would be willing to fund a new stadium for the Rays to move there.
  19. Which wouldn't be a bad move on the Brewers part depending on the pitchers the Brewers acquire from another trade. I would assume in that situation Gamel replaces McGehee at 3B or Gamel is traded for some pitching. Something like Gamel for Nolasco could be a possibility. A McGehee trade to the Rangers, Tigers, Twins, Red Sox, or Braves could yield a better return. If the Red Sox don't resign Beltre they would need a new 3B if Youkilis is not going to be playing 3B that is but that also opens a hole at 1B where Prince could be added into that spot. I believe the Braves, Tigers, and the Twins make the most sense for a McGehee trade with the Braves having the biggest interest in trading for McGehee. With Jones possibly retiring or moving over to 1B the Braves will need a new 3B to replace Jones with and I am not sure that the Braves have any minor league player who could step in and replace Jones they have Freeman but he will be at 1B and that won't be for another two or three years from now. The Twins definitely need a 3B and McGehee will be cheap for a few more years so that makes sense for them and the Tigers need a 3B with Inge getting older who really isn't a 3B at all. Depending on how free agency goes and if the Red Sox are not able to resign Beltre you could see some high demand on both McGehee, Gamel, and Fielder.
  20. So far just Medal of Honor and Fable III are on my buy list.? After that I am just waiting for Dragon Age II and Star Wars: The Old Republic to come out.? I might buy NBA 2K11 when it comes out. And if you haven't been following the Star Wars: The Old Republic game they just put up a new video this last Friday.
  21. This all depends on how desperate the Giants get. Plus Sabean has been burned with his recent free agent bat acquisitions so he maybe leery in picking up a bat in free agency. I agree though I don't believe the Giants will trade Cain maybe Bumgarner but not Cain and I am not even confident in that as a possibility. If the Dodgers didn't have such a big financial mess right now with their ownership I would put them above the Giants as being a serious bidder for Prince though I'm not sure if the Dodgers would give up Kershaw or Billingsley for Prince though I wouldn't be surprised if they did. The Rangers may still be in play for next year along with the Mariners, Red Sox, White Sox, and the Tigers. I think the team that gets Prince will give us some low level prospects who will then be flipped to get someone like a Greinke or a Nolasco. If the Rays would trade for Prince I wonder if a Garza for Prince deal could be done though I would prefer Colome and Moore over Garza for Prince. I would pay nearly all of Prince's salary for next year if the Brewers could get Moore and Colome from the Rays. I would then flip either Moore or Colome plus a bat for Greinke.
  22. Votto is the true MVP this year though.
  23. I just made a blanket statement about WAR in general in regards to the defensive metric being used. I just don't like WAR being used for players in the past there are just to many variables to take into consideration for it to be real conclusive to compare player A from x time period to player B from x time period. I generally don't like comparing players from one era to a current player at all really is what I am trying to say.
  24. Of course Yount is going to have a higher WAR. Yount played SS and CF both of those positions lack a lot of good bats. Also comparing Yount's WAR to Braun's WAR is like comparing an orange to an apple. I don't like the WAR stat being used to compare players from different decades as it gives an inaccurate picture. What defensive metrics are you using to judge that players defense and is it the same as the one you are comparing with the current player? You also have to take into consideration the type of competition that was going on during the two players you are comparing. WAR is just to inaccurate of a players worth to be comparing players from different decades.
  25. Simple question to answer. After reading over the Hoffman thread on whether the Brewers should or shouldn't retire Hoffman's number it got me to think about a Ben Sheets. When Sheets retires should the Brewers retire his number? I would have to go with yes and although Sheets isn't a hall of fame player he is and was the greatest pitcher the Brewers ever had on the team for more than a few months. Anyone else feel that Sheets number should be retired when he retires?
