  1. because he can hit and the other catchers need everyday work unlike Rivera.
  2. If you don't like Kendall's defense then you will really hate Rivera's defense. Rivera's offense doesn't even offset his horrible defense behind the plate.
  3. I am going to have to agree with RyDogg. I believe the time to trade Fielder to the Angels was this last off season. I believe the Brewers can get a Teixeira like haul from trading Fielder this off season though or something like what Florida got for Cabrera. I don't see many other teams other than Boston, Angels, Dodgers, and the Giants being able to trade for Fielder though. The Giants maybe pushing it with Sandoval being their 3B who should probably be playing 1B. The Rangers are also an interesting team to trade Fielder to but I'm not sure the pitching would be there (the Rangers are probably not going to trade their pitching prospects for Fielder). Rangers trade: Fielder to the Rangers for Teagarden, Smoak, and some other prospects (I'm not so sure on the Rangers system after Feliz, Teagarden, and Smoak) . I don't believe the Rangers would put Feliz into the mix. Feliz is the Rangers best pitching prospect and I would doubt they would add him into the list of players available though.
  4. 1st a lead off hitter is needed there currently is no one in the lineup other than Counsell who is a lead off hitter. Hardy should be batting lower in the lineup the same with Hart. I would love to see the Brewers pickup two more bats for the lineup. Need at least someone who can bat leadoff or someone who can bat behind Fielder. Kendall is going to stay at catcher for the rest of the season and next year. I don't see Rivera getting much time behind the plate since his defense isn't that great behind the plate. Lucroy is probably the catcher you should be looking at and not Salome. Salome is going to have to play in AAA again next year if he doesn't get better at calling games and handling pitchers. I just don't see Salome as the starting catcher for the Brewers next year it will probably be Kendall again. Hart probably should have been traded in the offseason but I'm not sure what Melvin would have gotten for Hart in the offseason probably not anything to significant. Gamel will probably be either be the starting 3B next year or the starting RF/LF next year. McGehee will also probably see time as the starting 3B or RF next year also. The Brewers do need some pitching help. I do see Hardy being traded in the offseason to help with that along with Hart being traded Cameron will probably also be brought back for next year. There are some minor pitchers available in the trade market right now and there will be more in the offseason. There are some bats available for Melvin to go out and get but I believe Melvin will try to fill that hole internally and then try and find some pitching help in the trade market.
  5. Thats why in the later part of my post I said I don't see the deal getting done unless Hall is added into the deal otherwise it just doesn't work for the Brewers financially. If Vazquez was a rental I could see the Brewers just trading Hart for Vazquez but with Vazquez being owed 11.5m for the next 3 years the Brewers would have to be able to dump one of their higher contracts.
  6. Either Hall or Suppan would have to be in the deal for that. The Brewers would still be on the losing end of that deal money wise. Since Hall is only owed $8.4m next year with a $500k buyout in '11. That is nothing compared to what Wells is owed for the next 4 years of $98.5m. The Jays would have to pay at least some of Wells salary in order for this to work for the Brewers. Also Wells has a full no trade clause so he could block the deal which he would more than likely do if there is no OF spot open for him to play in. Another deal I was thinking about would be Suppan, Hart, Lawrie, Braddock, and Lucroy/Green for Halladay and Wells plus cash. That is a lot of talent to give up for just two players and that is a lot of salary coming in. Suppan would cover Wells contract for the next two years for the Brewers and the cash would be to pay for a part of Wells contract for one of the 2 remaining years. Wells would be a crippling contract to take on for the Brewers though. I'm not sure I would like to have Wells who would be making about as much as Sabathia would have been making if the Brewers would have signed him. This would be at about half or worse production that you would get out of Sabathia. I'm not sure I would do this trade even if Halladay is coming to the Brewers Wells is just to financially crippling for the Brewers.
  7. Hall would be a salary dump for the Brewers and they would be getting a minor prospect in return otherwise this deal wouldn't be able to work for the Brewers. Vazquez is to expensive over the next two years if the Brewers keep both Hall and Suppan so one has to go and Hall is the more logical choice. Hall is actually the smaller contract between Vazquez and Hall. The Braves would only have to hold onto Hall for the next season and his contract is less than what Vazquez's would be so it is not financially crippling for the Braves. I don't see the Brewers getting Vazquez without putting Hall or Suppan in the deal. The Brewers may have to add in a better prospect in return for the Braves but that would be about it.
  8. The Brewers never had a chance to resign Branyan in the off season unless the Brewers would have extremely overpaid for Branyan. The Brewers would have had to over pay Branyan for him to stay because Branyan wanted to be a full time starter and to not be in a platoon all year. The Brewers couldn't guarantee Branyan a spot to start all year at either when Gamel was knocking on the door and having Hall there with a big contract.
  9. What would they do with Hart though? Unless Rios or Wells are coming over in the deal that is one crowded OF. Hart makes no sense for the Blue Jays to target in a deal unless they are unloading Rios or Wells in the same deal or in another deal. I still stand by the Blue Jays not trading Halladay. Of course they will look at what they could get for Halladay but it is going to have to be a deal that blows them away something along the lines of Braddock, Lawrie, Escobar, and Green/Lucroy for Halladay something like that is where I believe the Blue Jays would start with and insist on.
  10. If the trade is Hall, Hart, and a minor prospect for Vazquez and Francouer I wouldn't mind the trade at all. The Braves are only on the hook for the rest of Hall's contract this year and next years there is an option for Hall in '11 but that is a team option with a $500k buyout. I believe the rest of the year Vazquez is owed $23mil over the next two years plus the rest of this year. The salary exchange of Hall and Hart plus a minor prospect should be enough to offset the value that Vazquez has for the Braves. I wouldn't be surprised though if it is a straight up Hart for Vazquez trade though.
  11. The MLB could set up the draft like the NBA where the team pays an X amount of money to the team the player they drafted and the player pays the rest. Of course the MLBPA would never agree to that. Plus you would still have the same things happening now. The smaller market teams wouldn't draft those players b/c the price would be to high along with the risk. I do agree that the Latin American players need to be entering the draft though.
  12. The next CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) is supposedly suppose to fix this or at least touch on this problem. The problem you are talking about was being talked about in this thread somewhat.
  13. Because he has one pitch and one pitch only that is very good everything else he throws is very hittable. Once he would go through the batting order once he would be ineffective.
  14. That was not even close that was a strike what a horrible call.
  15. Braun with 2 on and 2 out game tied 1-1 where have we seen this before? Yes I know it was one on before but hey. Edit: and Braun pops it up in the infield. Such a deflating feeling there.
  16. He sent a slow running player home when he should have held him. Suppan is only going to score from 2nd if it is hit in the gap he is not going to score on a line drive to CF.
  17. Uggggg I am really beginning to hate our 3B coach right now. This guy has to be the worst 3B coach. He is either to hesitant to send the runners or doesn't know the OF arms and sending pitchers when they should be stopping at 3B. I know this hasn't happened a lot but this guy is horrible at 3B he can't judge the OF at all.
  18. Will Pena be in Helena this year? Another question does this mark a serious interest (more big time signings possible?) by the Brewers in the DR now?
