  1. Holiday won't be as good as Sessions immediately. Holiday is a better defender than Sessions but Sessions is better offensively than Holiday. Bogut was the consensus #1 pick not b/c the Bucks had Ford. Ford had very little to do with the Bucks picking Bogut I remember people gushing over Marvin Williams and he should have been taken over Bogut it really was between Bogut and Marvin Williams. Chris Paul and Deron Williams really werent in the conversation at the #1 pick. If the Bucks would have been picking lower in the draft then I would have expected the Bucks to take on of those two if they would have fallen that far that is. I don't see the Bucks being a different team if they would have drafted either Deron Williams or Chris Paul with the #1 pick. Gadzuric would be the starting C more than likely if the Bucks would have drafted Paul or Williams with the #1 pick that year. This team would still be about average to below average with Paul and without Bogut.
  2. My top 3 players are Holiday, Derozan, and Lawson those three are the ones I would like to see the Bucks draft. Also Alexander to me is more of a SF than he is a PF I just wish Alexander could shoot a little bit better and be able to drive to the basket a lot better than he does right now. Alexander also needs to work on his defense. With the trade going through today the Bucks should be able to keep at least one of Sessions or Villanueva and their #1 draft pick. I am hoping that Holiday drops to the Bucks. I believe he is the best player in the draft behind Griffin and would make the Bucks a contender in a year or two. Next thing that would be good is to trade Redd during the season and see if we can get out of that contract also.
  3. Just about as much as you can put the blame on the batting coach. Which is about zero. Pitching and batting coaches are just scapegoats for frustration for fans in reality they don't have much of an impact on how well a pitcher pitches or how a hitter hits. A pitching coach or a hitting coach can only do so much to help the player out the player still needs to perform when pitching or hitting the coaches can't do that for them.
  4. Lucroy/Salome and Green will probably be in the deal along with Jones/Rogers. The other pieces to the deal I'm not so sure about Jack Z could go in a lot of different ways and he knows the system very well. Possibly even Brewer also going in the deal if there is one that is.
  5. Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in but just looked at my e-mail today and saw this from the Brewers. Shout Go Brewers... Love the image for this. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/images/ticketing/y2009/im_millerparksouth_225x256.gif
  6. That is an interesting lineup interesting was the nicest thing I could think about that lineup.
  7. The NBA draft is next Thursday and I still haven't heard anything definitive on who the Bucks are looking at taking with their pick. Some mock drafts have Holiday falling to the Bucks and some have Hill dropping to the Bucks. Either of those two players I would be fine with.
  8. If I remember correctly it was said that the players union has a stake in the MLB draft and wouldn't allow a slotting system as long as their are type A and B free agents and teams get compensation for losing those free agents.
  9. This is going to be addressed in the next collective bargaining agreement or whatever it is along with the draft and the type A and B free agents. You might see the type A and B free agents gone after this next CBA. That would mean players in the draft would get a slot amount where they are drafted and there will be no more compensation for lost free agents. Also international players would have to go through the draft in order to play in MLB. I believe that is what is being discussed by the owners and players union of happening. I doubt all of these changes will happen but you could see international players in next years draft but the slotting prices for draftees not be there. So the same problem will still be there from the past with the draftees asking for a lot of money and the teams signing those same players drafting those players because of money issues.
  10. No thanks unless he comes very cheap or comes with Molina. At least not with a 6.71 BB/9 and a 8.27 H/9 that he is averaging so far this year.
  11. What a horrible call and horrible announcing again from ESPN. But still a play Hardy should have made easily.
  12. Wow Rivera that was just horrible on both of those throws especially the one at 3rd. Should have thrown the runner out at least one of the times there.
  13. Kind of off top but the two pictures of the pitchers looks like they are in a fight and Bush just landed a right hook on Pavano and Pavano is sitting in his corner after the last round. Hopefully tonights game is a knock out by the Brewers.
  14. I believe Scarpetta and Jeffress are the same it is just that I have more confidence in Scarpetta. What I have seen from Jeffress and Scarpetta are nearly the same but I just like Scarpetta better than Jeffress. I'll take both Scarpetta and Jeffress and I believe they will be both in Milwaukee near the same time in about 3-4 years. I have more confidence in Scarpetta's stuff than Jeffress's and I have more confidence in Scarpetta fixing his location problems than I do with Jeffress and that isn't taking into consideration what Jeffress did so far this year. I just feel that Scarpetta is better but it is not by much.
  15. I wonder if John Lackey could be available if the Angels drop out of the AL West race. If the Angels don't believe they can sign Lackey and are out of contention near the All Star break I wonder what it would take to get Lackey from the Angels. I am also wondering if the Rays will put Sonnanstine or Niemann on the block when Kazmir returns. It looks as though Price is going to stay in the rotation for the Rays this year that means when Kazmir returns Sonnanstine or Niemann would have to be traded or be moved to the bullpen. I wouldn't mind getting Sonnanstine or Niemann who I think could be good #3 or #4 starters in the rotation the problem with getting either of those two is that I don't see anyone in the Brewers organization who would be an immediate help to the Rays. The Rays need some help offensively and I don't see anyone in the minors who would be available to get someone like Sonnanstine or Niemann. A rotation of Gallardo, Bush, Sonnanstine, Looper and Suppan wouldn't be the best but it sure would be better than what is currently on the roster.
  16. Why does age matter? Manny should have been eased in no matter what his age was not thrown under the bus like he was last year. Manny was misused last year nearly all of his innings of work came in the early half of the year. So yes Manny did break down and I hardly call a 4.9 and a 4.5 for the first two months of a year bad for a first year full time starting pitcher in 2008. Manny had 3 good months last year with 1 great month and 1 horrible month which was more the cause of him being in the bullpen than anything else.
  17. That makes no sense at all that they were going for the playoffs in the beginning of last year. I think you have the Sabathia situation and the Parra situation mixed up. Yes if Manny was used correctly last year limiting his innings pitched and his pitch count early in the year he would have had more success in the later part of the year last year which would have increased his confidence. Confidence is all mental so yes that did hurt him by the abuse he took in the early part of last year. By far Yost has been one of the worst managers in recent years and only falling behind Dusty Baker for abusing young pitchers. Parra should have been treated like Kershaw has been treated this year. The Brewers needed to keep Parra's innings and pitch count down in the beginning of last season and they obviously didn't do what they said they were going to do with Manny. I believe the misshandling of Parra in the early part of the season last year had an adverse affect on Manny physically and mentally. Manny's average on his FB is below that of what it was last year and almost lower than what it was two years ago. Something is not right with Manny and I am going to bet on it being because of the abuse he took in the early part of last season.
  18. The White Sox are hard to figure out along with the other AL Central clubs are they going to be sellers or are they going to be buyers or are they just going to do nothing? It is really hard to judge the clubs in the AL Central right now since all of the teams are somewhat in the race for the division. Still I would like to see if the Brewers could get A.J. even with the baggage he brings. A.J. would be a nice #5 or #6 guy in our lineup the same could be said about B. Molina though.
  19. I know a lot of people hate the player I am about to suggest the Brewers should trade for as an everyday starter at catcher but it has to be said A.J. Pierzynski there I said it please don't kill me now. A.J. is a good catcher and he is a lefty bat and I'm not certain if he is or would be available in a trade the White Sox have Pierzynski through 2010 and his contract is not that expensive when you consider the Brewers are more than likely going to have to get a catcher in free agency next year if they don't resign Kendall. Yes I know A.J. is not a likeable player really everyone in the league probably hates the guy. I don't really want to make this into a trade rumor thread so I'll leave it at that I believe Pierzynski could be had and he is probably the best offensive catcher available in the trade market only other player I could think of is Bengie Molina who might be available also. Kendall does need to play a lot less IMHO and it was encouraging to see Macha pinch hit for Kendall today though. I wonder if Salome wasn't having injury related problems this year he would have been called up already. I believe Rivera is going to get more opportunities if Kendall doesn't start hitting more or getting on base more.
  20. I wasn't talking about the team I was talking about Parra being abused when he was on a limited innings and pitch count early in the year which never looked like Yost really followed.
  21. Actually Parra has been throwing strikes it is just that when he throws his strikes they are nearly right down the middle of the plate making it easy for the batters to hit the ball. I don't care what kind of stuff you have if you are throwing the majority of your strikes over the heart of the plate they are going to get hit and they are probably not going to be coming back. It really hasn't been the walks that have been hurting Manny it has been all of the hits he has been giving up that have been hurting him. Manny's H/9 is 11.55 that is not good at all. Manny's walks per 9 innings is bad but they are somewhat close to his stats from the last two years. It is the hits that are killing Manny not really the walks. The walks are the frustrating part of Manny not really his downfall so far this year it is him leaving his pitches all over the strike zone and not in good spots either. I think that last series against Atlanta where Manny didn't really pitch all that bad got to him after seeing some of the pitchers pitches get hit in Atlanta I really think it got to him.
  22. Dillard throws a sinker right? I don't see a problem with low strike outs with a sinker ball pitcher but I do wish he would get his walks down though. McClung really isn't stretched out to be a starter right now. I'm not sure I would want to hurt the bullpen with McClung only going 3 or 4 innings in his first few starts you know Suppan is going to have a start where he only lasts a few innings soon along with Looper. Bush and Gallardo are the only two pitchers I have faith in them going 7 innings and with Bush you know you will have a few games where he will only go 5 innings. I would rather have Dillard starting than McClung who hasn't been stretched out and then the bullpen suffering because of it.
  23. Parra being abused and over worked early in the season last year was the reason why Parra fell apart after the All Star break last year. I was asking for Parra to be in the bullpen near the all star break and a lot of people were not so confident in that should be what Parra should go. After Parra was abused some more last year he was finally put into the bullpen but by that time it was way to late and the damage already had been done. Remember last year Parra was suppose to be eased into the rotation after coming off of the injury and his innings and number of pitches were to be limited in the beginning of the year. Of course Yost never did what he said he was going to do by leaving Parra out there well beyond where he should have been. This is not an excuse why Parra is doing so bad but this certainly didn't help Parra at all. The Brewers last year should have taken the Kershaw route the Dodgers are taking this year by limiting his innings pitched and his pitch count. Notice Kershaw is already in the bullpen for the Dodgers after not being able to keep his pitch count down and the number of innings pitched down. There was no reason for the Brewers to trot Parra out there and keep him out there for so long last year in the beginning of the year.
  24. A very exciting hockey playoffs this year that is for sure. I love the Washington and Pittsburgh series that was a fun series to watch. Ovechkin and Crosby in their prime has to be like Magic and Bird in their prime. I just wish Ovechkin and Crosby played in different divisions it would make the rivalry yes a rivalry even more fun to watch. Gotta give respect to the Red Wings though. After being a power house like the Yankees having all the top talent and the highest payroll before a cap and then come in and become salary cap geniuses in the first couple years of the salary cap years is astounding. I used to watch hockey more but now I just watch the playoffs and the outdoor game they play that is interesting to watch I sure wouldn't watch it in person though.
  25. I believe this threads title is very accurate and the original post by Brian is also accurate. Melvin confirmed that he has been talking to other GM's I also agree with Melvin that there probably won't be a trade anytime soon. The trade talks are starting to heat up but there is mostly smoke right now and not a lot of fire give this until the end of the month. I don't expect anything to get done and if anything does get it done the earliest it would happen would be the last week of June about the same time the Sabathia trade last year was completed. Teams are not going to sell untill they know all of the buyers and sellers in the market are at least somewhat known it is just way to early yet for a major trade to happen. These are just my feelings on this.
