  1. Who exactly would Melvin get? You do know that no one is available right now other than comparable pitchers. Even in the off season there weren't that many better options that the Brewers could afford that were available. But McClung is not a starting pitcher he is a relief pitcher and a relief pitcher only. McClung is just way to erratic to be a starting pitcher he just can't keep his pitch count per inning down.
  2. I don't think that really matters for the Mets though especially with Delgado coming off the books after this season and Sheffield also coming off and Wagner could be bought out for $1M. The Blue Jays and the Rangers (to a lesser extent) would be more leery to trade for Lee but still Lee would be playing DH there and he wouldn't cost any more than any other DH on the market. The Blue Jays GM doesn't really like Dunn so I don't see that as a possibility and I doubt the Nationals would trade Dunn to the Mets.
  3. An AL team would take Lee. Lee has a ton of value as a DH and I could see a couple teams in the AL looking into Lee as a possibility. The Rangers (oddly enough) and the Blue Jays and in the NL I could see the Mets making a run at Lee if Beltran's injury is more serious than originally thought also if Delgado is not able to come back fully. These are the only ones I could think of right now that could use Lee as either a DH or 1B/OF.
  4. Think about this for a moment. Would you want to come up to the plate while Babe Ruth was drunk? Would you have liked to be on the pitchers mound with Ruth drunk? There was also another player who pitched a no hitter while on drugs can't remember the name right now. Plus there is no evidence that supports Jeffress was on the mound and stoned. People get worked up about these things but yet make heroes out of players like Ruth and Gooden. Babe Ruth was a known to drink before, during, and after games. I don't see the difference between someone smoking weed or being an alcoholic. Both are addictive I can drink and drink and drink alcohol all I want but I can go months or longer without taking a drink. One of my friends who is an alcoholic can't even drink one beer and he then he is back again to drinking every day. Every person is different in their addictions some people get addicted to things very easily. There are all different kinds of addictions some are very silly like googling diseases every day and every minute of the day some addictions like video games ruin lives and have even killed some people. Anything and everything can become an addiction it just depends on the person. Comparing yourself or someone else to another person is not fair to do. You don't know Jeffress you may think you do but you don't so don't make conclusions of what you don't have a clue about.
  5. No we wouldn't have lost a pick if we would have signed Dunn. The Diamondbacks didn't offer Dunn arbitration so they didn't get a pick this year when they lost him.
  6. Not a chance the Astros would trade Wandy Rodriguez. It doesn't really matter if they insist on keeping Oswalt. Rodriguez is a cheap youngish option as a SP and I don't see them trading that away. It would take Escobar + a lot to get Wandy Rodriguez from the Astros. I could see the Astros dealing Tejada, Lee, and Ivan Rodriguez though if they are completely out of it by the All Star break. I don't believe the Astros will trade either Oswalt or Berkman ever that would cause too much of a fan backlash. The Astros are married to Berkman and Oswalt and there is no divorce option available.
  7. Sucks to be Rasmus then. I wonder what Rasmus did to LaRussa to warrant another OF to be in the mix in St. Louis. The Cardinals already have Duncan, Ludwick, Ankiel, and Rasmus as OF. Granted they could just move Duncan to the backup 1B role but that leaves very little time in the OF for Rasmus who needs to be playing nearly everyday like Gamel should be. If the Cardinals do this trade they woud be severly hampering Rasmus development if they keep him on the major league team. This move would be a lateral move at best for the Cardinals and I don't see why they would make this move. The Cardinals don't need another OF they need someone who can play 3B. Mora or someone like that would make more sense than another OF which is already crowded. Only way that OF gets less crowded if they trade for Holliday is if they trade Ankiel away for some bullpen help that would scare me more than just trading for Holliday.
  8. Darko never really got a chance to play in Detroit though. Larry Brown hated him and burried him on the bench. I believe Detroit was hoping that Darko would have stayed in Europe and not had come to the NBA when they drafted him.
  9. Yes this team does need another hitter. David DeJesus comes up a lot around here and it looks like he is finally available in a trade this year. I wouldn't trade Hart for DeJesus or anything major but Heether or someone else in AAA could get DeJesus. You could even platoon DeJesus with Hart and have DeJesus bat leadoff giving Counsell a couple more days off a week and also giving Hardy a day off here and there. But that would move McGehee into a more of a starters role but I could live with that you can always have Hall play a couple of games against a lefty here and there at 2B. If Carlos Guillen didn't completely suck I wouldn't be apposed to a Hart, Hall, and a low minor league player for Meche and Guillen. The Royals would probably have to send a minor league player also to the Brewers or take on some of Guillen's salary.
  10. McNeal will probably sign with a team and is probably better for him not to be drafted since he can go to a team that fits his style of play.
  11. Gil Meche could be a possibility but financially I'm not sure the Brewers should make a trade for him. Meche will have a salary of $12m for the next two seasons '10 and '11. Meche also has a no trade clause and he would have to waive that to come to the Brewers. Meche might be another pitcher the Brewers could get.
  12. Already being discussed here.
  13. Well I was half right. It was a guard and Meeks will be a solid guy off the bench.
  14. Dang. I was hoping Jerebko would fall to the Bucks. Looks like there really isn't that many good F's left in the draft. I'm going to say Christmas is the pick here or I am hoping that this will be the pick.
  15. Looks like the Timberwolves are going to be making a trade and as I am typing this that is exactly what they are doing. Hopefully the Bucks can get a trade for another 1st round pick.
  16. The Bucks are going to have to take another guard later in the 2nd round I wouldn't be surprised if the Bucks traded Ridnour and another player for a late 1st round pick I'm not sure though if that will happen though. Remember Redd won't be available until about 1 or 2 months into the season and I doubt Bell/Ridnour will be on the team. The Bucks are going to need another guard and preferably a #2 guard. McNeal and Christmas could both be a #2 guard more so Christmas than McNeal though.
  17. No Jennings and Holiday are about equal. Holiday is more of a defensive player his scoring abilities is not that great. Holiday doesn't really have a jump shot to speak of and while he does drive to the lane it isn't any better than what the Bucks currently have. While Jennings who is not as good defensively as Holiday he is a better offensive player and is more mature and I believe that will help translate into Jennings being the better player than Holiday.
  18. It was a good pick. Though I like Holiday better he is a better defensive PG than Jennings but it is not a bad pick. Jennings and Holiday are the two players I was thinking the Bucks were going to take. I really thought for awhile there when Holiday started to fall that it was going to be Holiday and not Jennings.
  19. And it is Jennings. I am surprised that the Bucks didn't take Holiday when he fell all the way to them that is a little bit interesting.
  20. Please let this be completely false.
  21. I would rather have Bedard than Washburn. Washburn screams left handed version of Suppan/Looper. The Brewers do not need another #4 or #5 starter count me out on Washburn that ship has sailed I don't care that he is from Wisconsin that doesn't help the Brewers at all.
  22. I wonder if a Gadz and Redd to the Rockets for TMac could happen. TMac will be in his final year of his contract giving the Bucks a lot of salary cap space after next year. This would also help out the Rockets giving them a shooter in Redd and C depth for next year with Yao's injury being in question. I'm going to go with the Bucks taking Jennings and Jerel McNeal or Dionte Christmas in the 2nd round.
  23. Jose Reyes is more comparable to Escobar than Ramirez is.
  24. Now the Timberwolves trade for the #5 pick in the draft and are looking to trade their other 1st round picks the 6th, 18th, and 28th pick to get the 2nd pick. Link to the story at ESPN I wish the Bucks had the players to trade to the Wizards for that #5 pick.
  25. The Braves really did shoot themselves in the foot this off season. They sign Anderson instead of Dunn which was a really big mistake. Dunn would have fixed all of Atlanta's offensive problems they are having right now. Having Jones batting 3rd or 5th in that lineup either in front of Dunn or behind him would have made that lineup a lot more scarier to pitch against. I would trade Hart and Hall to the Braves for pitching as long as Francouer and a pitcher are coming back in the deal. I wouldn't mind Vazquez and Francouer for Hart and Hall. The Brewers could then trade Francouer to the Royals for DeJesus or Teahen. The Royals were interested in Francouer in the offseason I wonder if they still are interested in him. But then again the Braves would probably just trade for those players if they could sell off Francouer to them.
