  1. This is going to be an interesting Hall of Fame year. Only one player really stands out on the list that I saw in the article that would be a lock to get into the Hall of Fame and that is Rickey Henderson but Dawson and Blyleven could get in. Plesac is going to have to wait like Goose had to wait and I'm not even sure Plesac should be in the Hall of Fame.
  2. Uecker's Catcher in the Wry if you haven't read that already is good. The Long Season by Jim Brosnan is also good. Planet of the Umps: A Baseball Life from Behind the Plate by Ken Kaiser and David Fischer is another good one. I know Uecker's book can be found in bookstores I'm not sure on the other two though. The Long Season at Amazon. Planet of the Umps at Amazon.
  3. I doubt Redd will exercise his 2010 option. Especially with a chance to get on a winning team and playing with his friend Lebron and in a bigger team like the Knicks or the Nets. Do you see Redd passing that up at all? I don't see Redd passing up that opportunity and his contract won't be any worse than what he is getting now. I believe Redd is gone after the 2009 season along with RJ. I just don't see both of them staying with the Bucks after the 2009 season.
  4. Looking ahead to 2010. According to Real GM and over at ESPN Redd and Jefferson will be free agents in 2010 along with Lebron, Wade, and others. Would it be possible for the Bucks to get Wade and another player that year? Or do the Bucks wait until 2011 and try and get Carmelo? In 2009 the big name free agent will be Marion I'm not sure that the Bucks should go after Marion especially if he wants a long contract with his injury issues.
  5. 3/30 for Fuentes would be a steal. That isn't a long term deal either 3 years is medium length contract not really a long contract and not really a short one either. I would take Fuentes at 3 years for $30 million every day of the week. 3 years is a short time when you are looking at CC's deal for 5 years that is a long contract 3 years is not a long term commitment. That would be a steal if the Brewers could get Fuentes for 3/30.
  6. Supposedly this is going to happen in the near future. During the next meetings between the owners and the players union this will be changed or at least that is what I read about a while back when they were talking about this. I can't remember the details or the article that I read it in though.
  7. You can blame Boras for this. Both of Boras's clients are connected to teams on the west coast with Teixeira and Manny. The Dodgers #1 priority is Manny and the Angels #1 priority is Teixeira. CC is waiting for both the Angels and Dodgers to give him an offer. This is what Melvin is waiting for. I doubt Melvin knows anything about CC and his contract situation before Boras starts talking with the Dodgers about Manny. Right now Melving is being held hostage by this situation. We may not know anything about if CC is going to be staying or leaving untill early or mid December.
  8. Supply and demand. Demand is low for gasoline and when demand goes down supply increases. When demand decreases prices go down. When demand increases or supply decreases prices rise. That is the simplistic explanation why they are falling like this.
  9. CC won't be deciding soon. The Dodgers look to be taking their sweet time with dealing with Manny which is their #1 priority and CC is the back up plan. Until Boras and Manny return with their demands to the Dodgers CC is going to be waiting for the Dodgers to make their bid on him along with the Angels who are waiting to hear from Teixeira another Boras client before talking with CC. The Giants are also interested in CC. I doubt the Giants really make a serious offer to CC though but maybe they will. I believe Melvin will lose patience with CC and rightfully so you can't be held hostage when the team needs to fill other holes. I'm hoping over the Thanksgiving weekend CC will let Melvin know what it would take to get him to play for the Brewers but CC is still waiting on the left coast teams to make an offer. I don't see that happening since Boras is taking his sweet time with Teixeira and Manny.
  10. The one or two inches difference isn't going to help him stretch out more. I just don't see Gamel being a good 1B or a 3B. I believe he is destined like Braun to be playing in the OF.
  11. Prince is around 5'11" how do I know this? Because I am 5'11" and I have stood next to Fielder and we are nearly the exact same height.
  12. Lawrie could be coming up on Gamel's heals rather quickly if the Brewers decide to have Lawrie at 3B instead of at C. Green is also another possibility at 3B. I believe Lawrie may pass up Green though if the Brewers decide to put Lawrie at 3B which I believe would be a better move than having him playing at C. Gamel is destined for the OF though if he can't figure it out at 3B which isn't a bad thing really. You can put Gamel in RF or LF. I don't believ Gamel would make a good 1B Gamel is 6' 0" and that is not much of a difference between him and Prince. The problems would still be there that are there with Prince right now.
  13. Judging just by the number of errors a player commits is not a good way to determine how good they are at fielding. There are other issues you have to look at than just the number of errors the player made. Braun never looked comfortable at 3B last year he was either hurrying his throws when he didn't need to or charging balls that he didn't need to charge.
  14. I'm wondering if a DiFelice/Dillard and a minor league pitcher to the Royals for DeJesus would be enough. If not a Gwynn or Iribarren could also be put into the deal.
  15. The Royals need middle infielders more than any thing else right now and them adding Crisp is very puzzling to me. With Greinke looking to go year to year with the Royals they may trade him also. I wouldn't mind trading Hart and a few prospects for Greinke and DeJesus. I'm not sure how likely a trade like that would be but it would be nice to get a lead off hitter in DeJesus and having Greinke as the #1 or #2 starter.

  19. I doubt it. This is just the typical baseball off season. Once one big name free agent signs the rest of the dominoes will begin to fall. Trades are usually done around the winter meetings and there are usually not that many that happen during that time anyways.
  20. Hall for Inge? Not sure I would do this though it wouldn't really fix anything other than helping out financially for the Brewers and the savings is small. It would be a lateral movement at best though. The Brewers would get salary relief and the Tigers would get an improvement over Inge. Hall's contract 09 $6.8M 10 $8.4M 11 $9.25M (Club Option) ($0.5M Buyout) Inge's contract 09 $6.3M 10 $6.6M Savings of $2.3M for the two years you can't get much on the FA market with $2.3M. I'll let the stats talk for themselves. 21. Reading the NBA rules about elbows and knees. In the ESPN article it touches on this. If you are going through a shooting motion and hit someone you are at fault. Yes I know it is a stupid rule but we are talking about the NBA here. I was just guessing what it would be and a 1 game suspension according to the rules or a fine would be taken out on Bogut it doesn't really matter who the aggressor was or wasn't.
  22. The ones who vote for this shouldn't be able to vote for a player in the 1st or 2nd slot that plays for a team that they cover. Fielder shouldn't have been in that list at all. Howard shouldn't have been in the top 5 either one month doesn't equal a MVP award.
  23. Yes it was. Both are probably going to get a fine and/or 1 or 2 game suspension though. I believe 1 game is what both KG and Bogut will get.
  24. When Pujols was snubbed when Howard won the MVP award Pujols commented about how someone who didn't make the playoffs shouldn't win the MVP. I wonder if Pujols still thinks this is true? Not taking away from anything that Pujols did this year but I think Lance Berkman really got snubbed this year and should have won the MVP award.
  25. No thanks for Garland we would have to pay him a Suppan type contract and we would be getting a Suppan type pitcher in return. The Brewers already have one over paid #4 or #5 starter on the team and there isn't room for another one. Cano would be good but I'm not sure the Yankees would accept a trade like that for both Hughes and Cano. If the Brewers were to trade Cameron to the Yankees it would be a Cabrera and Kennedy deal. With a Cameron and Lucroy I could see a Cano, Kennedy, and a low prospect. Hughes and Cano would be way to much for Cameron and Lucroy. Cano would be a nice bat to add in the lineup maybe a change of scenary is needed for Cano for him to be successful again.
