  1. How many #8 hitters in the league are batting over .250 though? Plus it could be worse we could have All Star Jason Varitek as our catcher who is batting .215 for the year.
  2. I believe CC will be with the Dodgers next year and Sheets even though you don't think they will do it at least Cashman will be against it but the Yankees will sign Sheets. Hank wants a veteran pitcher and Sheets could become the #1 pitcher with the Yankees. I could see Sheets getting $90 million for 5 years from the Yankees this off season. Remember after Sabathia is gone Sheets is the next best option pitching wise in free agency.
  3. Uggg that error by J.J. was one of the worst errors I have ever seen in baseball. That one tops all of the ones Weeks has done.
  4. Brad Penny could be this guy that the Brewers could sign in the off season to a one year contract with an option for the next year. I don't think the Dodgers are going to pick up Penny's option. Penny is having a not so good year so far and I believe he still has a lot left in his tank. I believe Penny could turn it around next year.
  5. We did shed some money with losing Simmons in that trade. I don't really like this trade though I believe the Bucks could have done better than what they got. Maybe the Bucks will still trade Redd away if they are truly going to rebuild this team.
  6. Selig has done a lot of good things for baseball in general. The wild card love it or hate it it has kept baseball very competitive. The Red Sox fans should be thankful to Bud Selig he is the one who brought in the Wild Card and the Red Sox won a world series which hasn't happened in a long long time. I believe during the strike year Selig was able to get revenue sharing in for the small market clubs. The realigning of baseball was also part of Selig's reign. 1993 was the last year of the East and West divisions which was also the first winning season for the Yankees in the 90's and their first winning season since 1988. I believe Selig has done a great job for baseball and for Milwaukee. The only gripe I had with the Selig's is how they ran the team they tried the win now and build for the future approach which really didn't work out at all. This was mostly a management problem and the decisions they made on players and trades.
  7. I am really looking forward to NHL 09 now. Especially with this kind of news this sounds very interesting to play 6v6 hockey online with other players with you only controlling one player.
  8. Dillon makes no sense if Dillon is replacing Branyan. Now you just lost another left handed bat on the bench with Branyan when you call up Dillon. I bet it was down to Nix, Gwynn, and Nelson and since Braun is still down they went with Nix who gives you more pop than Gwynn and can play the OF so Nelson is eliminated. Nix was the right choice with the call up considering the circumstances.
  9. Wow what a horrible trade for the Reds. I would think Dunn would have gotten them more than Owings, Buck, and another player. Unless this other player is an absolute stud but by the way it sounds it maybe just another role player for the Reds. I think the Diamondbacks got a steal here.
  10. I hope that is a typo and you meant Blalock versus RHPs and Hall vs LHPs.
  11. 1. Agreed 2. I also agree with this 3. It doesn't work out as well as the NFL did though with the number of teams per division and where the teams are located. I agree that 4 divisions would be great it would also eliminate the wild card which some people are against. 4. As long as the first round playoff games are a 1 game elimination this could work or shorten the length of the season by 1 month. 5. The DH is fine with me I don't really care either way though. I would also like some instant replay in baseball mostly just the home run and fair or foul calls to be able to be called on by replay. If they implement the College football system for instant replay that would be perfect.
  12. Well the sand or dirt whatever you want to call it isn't on a football field it is all grass and is very easy to play on grass. Not to mention no football players are carrying around a bat and are swing it at the football. The bat would become a very lethal weapon if it comes slipping out of the batters hand not only to the fans but to the other players. Plus once the dirt playing field starts to get wet it is nearly impossible to run. In football you have grass that protects you from some of the mud that would clog up your cleats. You can also get your cleats cleaned in between offensive and defensive switches. Imagine a pitcher/catcher having to get their cleats cleaned after almost every batter. Instead of a 3 hour long game you now have a 4 to 6 hour long game. Not to mention if there are also base runners on. I just don't see how it could be feasible playing baseball in the rain. To many things that you have to account for especially with the pitcher and the batter. A slippery baseball is more dangerous than a slippery football. Do you really want to be sitting in the batters box with a pitcher who is going to be throwing 90 + mph pitches with very limited control? Do you really want to be sitting behind homeplate as a catcher or an umpire with something like that? It is just not feasible to do it.
  13. Not as a starter. I believe Gallardo if he returns this year he will be pitching from the bullpen.
  14. Even if it is close and the Brewers have the Wild Card locked down and are playing the Cubs for the division I still say you go with McClung, Bush, Suppan against the Cubs in the final series. I would rather have Sheets and Sabathia for the playoffs in game one and game two of the playoffs over Sheets and Sabathia playing against the Cubs.
  15. That is actually underpaying for Sabathia. More along the lines of 5 years 100 million or 6 or 7 years at 120 million.
  16. Las Vegas, NV Florida Keys, FL; Great salt water fishing you can't go wrong here so many charters available. France; I haven't been to Paris not really interested in that but Normandy and the Mediterranean areas are nice and southern Brittany is nice. Puerto Rico is nice at times plus you don't need a passport to get there either.
  17. I don't think the Rays need to worry about the Yankees as much as they need to worry about the Twins, White Sox, and Red Sox. Those three teams could pass them well before the Yankees do.
  18. New York is where he will end up because it is not a year round thing he would have to deal with like in Houston and Atlanta. I believe Pettite was the last player to do this. Didn't the Yankees offer him a better contract than what the Astros did when they signed him.
  19. Hardly any of Sheets injuries have been pitching related. A few have been from pitching others have been freakish injuries or common injuries that pitchers get (blisters). Bringing up Sheets injury issues is not the same as the ones Hughes is going through. Completely different things that have put Sheets on the DL compared to what has put Hughes on the DL. Plus Sheets this year is healthy and has been pitching great. He will get that big contract if Carl Pavano can get a huge contract Ben Sheets will get one. $60 million is low balling Sheets. Sheets will get in the range of $90-100 million with 5-6 years on the contract.
  20. The Cardinals have more staying power. The Cardinals only play 3 teams other than the Marlins who have winning records. The Cardinals have 2 games against the Brewers left, 2 against the Cubs 1 home and 1 road series, and Arizona who they play 4 at home and 3 on the road against the Diamondbacks. The Marlins play 5 teams that have a winning record until the end of the year. The Marlins play the Cards again in September, a home series against the Cubs, a road series against Arizona, 2 more against the Mets 1 at home and 1 on the road, and 2 more against the Phillies 1 at home and 1 on the road. The Marlins have a tougher schedule than that of the Cardinals. So cheer for the Marlins this series.
  21. Yes but he can also turn down contracts you know right? If Sheets doesn't want to play at a certain city I doubt he will accept a contract there. I also said it was because spring training is hot not because it was humid. Yes NY is plenty humid in the summer and so is Wisconsin at times. These are things Sheets is probably looking for. I doubt Atlanta, Houston, or even Arizona are places Sheets would want to be pitching at because they are almost always hot or hot and humid places. I really do see Sheets pitching for the Yankees in 09 and that is where he will sign and it won't be with Milwaukee because the Yankees and other east coast teams are going to out bid the Brewers for Sheets. To me Sheets signing with the Yankees is a very strong possibility.
  22. Dunn's contract is one thing that might have been in the way from someone claiming him and the Reds pulling him off of waivers because they wouldn't get anything in return is another.
  23. Actually it is. Considering the Yankees who I think are the front runners for Ben Sheets will pay him around 5-6 years at $90-100 million. Remember Wang has gone down with an injury he may not be the same next year. Chamberlain will be just starting his first full year as a starter next year. Kennedy is a #4 starter at best who pitches a lot like Dave Bush. Hughes you could label as injury prone right now. Pettite and Mussina are probably not going to be coming back. That leaves a lot of holes in the Yankees rotation with no number three guy. Sheets is just a logical target for the Yankees in free agency. I believe they will go after Sheets and not Sabathia in the off season. The Yankees will put the price for Sheets over what the Brewers should pay to keep Sheets. Another reason why Ben Sheets will be pitching for the Yankees, Mets, Phillies, or Red Sox is Sheets hatred of pitching in hot and humid cities. I believe awhile back there were some interviews with Ben Sheets on the Brewers website where Ben said he hated pitching in spring training because of the heat. I believe he also said at one time he didn't like pitching in Atlanta or Houston because of the heat and humidity if I remember correctly. I believe he said he can't grip his curveball correctly when pitching in those kind of situations.
  24. Pinch hitting and bullpen help is what I would guess they would be used for. Nelson would be another lefty on the bench which would be needed. The bullpen is where the most help would come from.
  25. No shipping should never be refunded if that is what you are asking. September or October the latest just don't wait until November or December to buy one at least not on Ebay. Price goes up for some odd reason extremely above the market price for any of the consoles during the holiday season. The 80gb console right now is $499 but that is the Metal Gear Solid 4 Bundle. Thats the only PS3 version with 80gb available that I could find at Best Buy or Circuit City. The best thing about the PS3 though is that you can take it apart and add upgrade the hard drive to it. I believe it is just a basic laptop hard drive in it and all you would have to do is buy a transfer cable to move the files from the PS3 hard drive into the new one if you really wanted to get a bigger hard drive than the 40gb which are at $399 right now.
