  1. Am I the only person who just hates the Olympics and just goes bleh whatever when they are on? Everyone in my family loves the Olympics but to me they are nothing special.
  2. I meant to say a Niemann like prospect. I think he is still considered a prospect.
  3. You would think that Prince would bring in more than Hardy. You have to remember though that Hardy is playing at SS and won't be as expensive as Prince would be. Hardy is actually more valuable than Prince is right now both the Royals and Rays have a hole at SS. Hardy may not want to move over to 3B. He would be losing money if he moves to 3B. Hardy will also not be signed cheap either Hardy is one of the top NL SS. I don't think Hardy will sign for very cheap at all he will be cheaper than what it would cost to keep Fielder though. Now here is the reason why Hardy will get more in return than Prince would. #1 Prince is due about $7-9 million after this year for arbitration. That puts the Royals and Rays out of a deal for Prince the two teams with probably the best pitching prospects in their systems. That leaves us with the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, and a few other teams. The Yankees have Hughes and Kennedy (Kennedy is a Dave Bush type of a pitcher). Hughes could be labeled as an injury prone player and the Yankees will probably just sign Teixera instead of trading for a player like Fielder. Arod/Jeter will taking over the DH spot in a couple of years anyways so Fielder doesn't make sense there. The Red Sox system is great but I don't see anyone I would want to trade for Fielder. The Angels have Adenhart and Wood who would make sense for the Brewers. The Rangers are also another team I could see the Brewers trading with they have some good pitching prospects but mostly catching prospects. Hardy could land a Niemann and some other low level prospects. To me Hardy is more expendable to teams that fill a need for the Brewers than Fielder does.
  4. Don't be surprised if Hardy is the one who is dealt before Prince is. Especially with the Brewers being in love with Escobar. I could see Hardy being dealt this off season for pitching help if one of Sheets or Sabathia are not retained by the Brewers. Hardy actually has more value right now than Prince does. That is if Hardy stays strong thoughout this year. I could see Hardy being shipped to the Royals or the Rays for some of their pitching prospects. The same can be said about Prince but I believe Hardy right now has the higher value than Prince or any other player on the Brewers team right now. Hart will sign a long-term deal at the end of the season probably somewhere around the time of the winter meetings. Corey is not going to sign a long term deal during the season. I believe he is waiting until the offseason to gauge how much he is worth, which is smart for him to do. I really do see Hardy as the odd man out at the end of this season. In my honest opinion I believe it should be Prince and have Nelson up next year and then have Gamel play 1B in 2010 or the earliest in the second half of 2009. Hardy could be shift over to 3B opening a spot for Escobar at SS. I believe Hardy would be adequate at 3B number wise and would be an above average 3B defensively.
  5. This makes no sense at all for the Brewers to go after a pitcher like Francisco Rodriguez when Torres or someone from the minor leagues could do just as good of a job and still give you as many wins as Francisco would give you. Francisco may get you 2 or 3 more extra wins over a Torres or someone picked off the scrap heaps. Also Francisco is going to get a big payday after this season. If Cordero and Rivera got the big contracts last year what do you think Francisco Rodriguez is going to get this year? I bet it will be at or above $17 million a year. I don't see the Brewers paying that much money for a closer if they are not willing to pay that much for Sabathia or Sheets. This is why this doesn't make any sense at all.
  6. The NBA just changed that rule this last season so it would be based on record and not seeding. The MLB is just like the NFL if you have the #1 seed you play the #4 seed if they are not from your division if the #4 seed is in the same division then the #1 team plays #3 and the #2 team plays the #4 team. Record doesn't matter with the seedings 1, 2, and 3 are reserved for the division winners. The #1 and #2 teams get home field advantage.
  7. Maybe with Sheets getting that extra day off this week he will return to form. Remember Sheets pitched in the All Star game and came back on 4 days of rest after the All Star game. Even though Ben didn't throw that many pitches he still had all the hype to deal with on the All Star stage in New York.
  8. Jeffress moved to Double-A Huntsville According the Brewers website.
  9. Hall started 2 games against the Cubs and 1 game against the Braves. Branyan started 1 game against the Cubs and 1 game against the Braves. While Counsell has started 1 against the Cubs and 2 against the Braves. Only one of the starts by Counsell was at SS. Counsell shouldn't be in the lineup at all unless he is replacing Weeks or Hardy. I would rather see Counsell taking a start from Hardy while he is cold than taking one from Hall or Branyan. Assuming its a right handed pitcher it will be taking a start from Branyan.
  10. Why is Counsell starting at 3B? If anything he should be playing for Hardy. Branyan or Hall would be a better option right now than Counsell at 3B.
  11. The players who foul out are allowed to leave the game and head to the locker room if they so choose. Most pitchers don't leave when they are done some do but not all stay or leave. It is an option for them to leave your comparison is flawed. A lot of players in the NFL if they are taken out and the game is in hand will head towards the locker room. It is the same thing.
  12. If Hardy is in the lineup today I am going to lose it. Hardy hasn't got a hit since July 28th and has only walked once in his hit less streak right now with 10 strike outs I believe it is. Hardy is playing worse than Hall at his worst time this year.
  13. Not true at all with your basketball thing. When you receive 2 technical fouls you have to leave the game or a severe flagrant foul you have to leave the game. Also in football if you hit the ref or start a fight you have to leave the game also some non active players are not allowed on the sidelines.
  14. So many over reactions here. I can't how many times there was a fight in a high school practice for football or baseball that I was in. Something happens and you over react to it this happens a lot. The people who usually start an altercation are the ones who are the more competitive players on the team. I don't see this as a big deal at all it is nothing really. It was just a push if Prince actually threw a punch then I would be more concerned about the situation.
  15. Both Ben and Sabathia will be pitching on 6 days of rest when their turn comes up next again to pitch. Thank goodness for that off day on Thursday. Remember that Sheets pitched on 4 days of rest after the All Star break.
  16. Is something like this what you are looking for? Not exactly the same color but the jersey is somewhat the same I'm guessing you are looking for a home jersey. I could only find an away jersey on ebay. I don't think they made the one you are referring to though. That would be a jersey from the early 90's and I'm not even sure there were jeresy's available to be purchased at that time and if they were they weren't that popular so you are going to have a tough time finding them. http://i5.ebayimg.com/04/i/06/9a/f9/69_2.JPG
  17. I only skimmed through most of the posts on here and didn't really see it.
  18. I can't believe no one even mentioned the interview with Jim Powell and Gallardo. It can also be found on Powell's blog over at sportsbubbler.
  19. @ Atlanta 2-1 @ Cincinnati 2-1 Washington 3-1 @ San Diego 3-0 @ LA 1-2 Houston 2-1 Pittsburgh 3-0 @ St. Louis 1-1 @ Pittsburgh 2-1 19-8 The LA, Houston, and St. Louis series could be disastrous though and we could go 16-11 which is what we went in July.
  20. From Jim Powell's blog he talks about Gallardo and there is an interview that you can listen to about Gallardo and when he thinks he will return.
  21. I believe there will be construction on the I-94 either this year or in the next couple of years.
  22. No rush. I just would like to land Kendrick, Adenhart, and a player to be named later for Fielder. I just don't want to see the Brewers fall to far behind in developing the team. I believe Gamel could be plugged into the lineup in a year or two and we could make another run at the playoffs. With Adenhart and Kendrick you add younger players and you can then trade Weeks for some minor league pitchers and some bullpen help. I believe the Brewers could survive with Nelson at 1B next year. Plus having a rotation in 2010 of Gallardo, Parra, Adenhart, Free Agent/other minor leaguer, and Jeffress would be a nice rotation for the Brewers. I just like what we could have two years from now for our pitching if we trade Fielder this offseason. I have said this before I don't believe Fielder will be traded this offseason it will probably be more than likely Hardy who gets traded.
  23. I still believe Hardy is more valuable to the Brewers in a trade this off season than on the team though since I don't believe Prince will be traded which he should be but that is for another thread and another time. The next best player to land some quality pitching would be Hardy.
  24. Yes and No. Branyan has been in a slump since the end of June. Hall has been hot in the month of July. You start Hall because he has a hot bat and you ride Hall until his bat starts to get cold. Which it looks like it is starting to happen. I don't think Branyan will slump for the rest of the season and I don't believe Hall will continue his hot streak of this month for the rest of the season either. Branyan will get his fair share of starts in the next couple of games. I wouldn't be suprised to see Branyan starting a couple of the Cubs series over Hall. The fact is Hall has been producing at the plate this month while Branyan has not.
  25. You are forgetting that Sheets and Sabathia will be gone at the end of this season. Having Fielder on the team is not really productive for the Brewers. It would be best to trade him when his value is high. His value will be the highest at the end of this and the end of next season. I don't see why the Brewers need to keep Fielder. He will be leaving the team once he hits free agency and will be with an AL team anyways. Why not get the maximum amount from Fielder when we can. I don't want to trade Fielder but it is something that is going to happen. Adenhart isn't just a minor league pitcher he is the Angels stud prospect kind of like LaPorta was to the Brewers. The Angels need someone who can hit for power in their lineup and who they could put at 1b or DH. Fielder fits that bill for them. The Brewers need MLB pitching and minor league pitching to replenish the farm with. Adenhart and other pitching prospects on the Angels would be a great addition to the Brewers if the Brewers could get Howie Kendrick also in this move and then move Weeks for some minor league pitching prospects I would love it since it would help us more for the long haul than it would from us keeping Fielder.
