That player doesn’t really exist at 17 at least not any that are as sure as Smith or Benge are. All the players you listed could fail and be nothing. There could be injuries or the prospects just don’t pan out for whatever reason. Taking a bat at 17 is just a smart play. You have to continue to develop players regardless if they are pitchers or hitters. Take a safer bet at 17 and then gamble with 34 and the other picks.

Unlikely as I think there is only one other catcher on the All Star roster. He will probably play 4 innings maybe more. Mitchell with a nice bomb!

The point went up and over your head and into outer space. If your main goal is to win the world series then you are setting yourself up for absolute failure. Drafting, scouting and development are a far more important goal than winning the WS. If you can't do any of the three correctly you are not winning a WS or even coming close to making one. So setting the goal as the WS is like staring at the bark and saying yep no forest here just bark.

I think the Brewers go college bat with the 17th pick. Waldschmidt, Smith, Tibbs, Benge or King are the current rumors at this pick. I don't see the Brewers taking a pitcher at 17 unless someone falls to them. There are a few HS players being discussed but they are all bats also with Gillen getting the highest grade. If the college bat is not here Gillen or Sanford maybe the pick. If it is Gillen/Sanford I wouldn't be surprised if they go with Santucci a LHP from Duke at 34. There are some medical concerns with Santucci so this maybe an under slot pick. Maybe someone like White or Jordan at 34 could be a possibility if they last that long. Both Jordan and White could be busts as they K a lot. White tends to be more aggressive in chasing pitches and Jordan is just raw and may never be something more than a Chris Carter or Eric Thames type of a player. He will hit home runs and they will be majestic but he may not hit for enough contact. I still think Jordan has the best raw power in this draft and probably the quickest hands and bat speed. Jordan's hand and bat speed remind me a lot of Weeks. All of the athletic tools that the Brewers have looked for are there but the bat to ball skills are extremely lacking from what the Brewers have been looking for recently. The player I hope that falls to the Brewers is Cameron Smith. I am extremely high on him and he is the player that I want the most. He reminds me of Ryan Braun a lot with his swing and I think there is more potential than what he has shown so far in college. A lot of mocks have the Marlins going with Smith a pick ahead of the Brewers. There is a lot of noise coming from the Marlins that Smith is someone they are looking at seriously drafting. Gillen is also another name coming up for the Marlins along with Benge and Waldschmidt. I think the Brewers and the Marlins are targeting some of the same players at this pick.

And when was the last time they won these WS’s? If your only goal is to win the WS then you are going to fail a lot and be miserable because of this.

Any team that has its ultimate goal as winning the WS will be an absolute joke of a franchise. Just look at the Angels and Mets as proof of this.

That should have been an out but will take it.

Hoskins hasn’t been a .260 hitter since 2017. At best you are looking at a .250 hitter. His last four years have been around .245.

I don't believe that is going to be enough for a rate cut. I think the FED will want to see this continue so probably still on track for an Oct or Nov rate cut. I am going to continue to say it won't happen until Nov unless there is something serious that occurs between now and Nov.

Would something like this work? I am not sure the Clippers would do this but it does help them reset a bit if this next season doesn't work out for them. After this next season they would only have Kawhi for 2-more years and Harden for 1 more. The Pistons get Beauchamp plus a 2nd but I think the 2031 1st would be more beneficial to them but I think the 2031 1st would be lottery protected. May need something more to the Pistons. Offensively the Bucks would be better at SG with Powell.

To get laughed at yes. Maybe if the Brewers pay for a portion of Ohtani's contract like $100mm worth then sure the Dodgers would think about this.

I have been on the Kikuchi bandwagon for awhile now I guess you could call me the founding father? But seriously I think something like Blalock and one more piece would work for Kikuchi. I would think something like Brown and another minor piece would work. I am not sure the Brewers see Brown as a top prospect anymore as I believe Bitonti, Boeve and Pratt have all passed him by in the pecking order. If there is a prospect that is ranked in the 10-15 range in the Brewers system that gets traded I think it will be Brown.

Just to be clear Hipwell’s suspension was for PED use. To me that doesn’t matter though he will probably be tested more than others. He also seems to be defensively a LF or 1B. His arm should put him at 3B or RF but I don’t believe he has the footwork to play 3B and athletically I am not sold on him in RF. If he is there in the 3rd or 4th round I would take the gamble but any earlier and I would be a bit concerned.

Other scouts have him moving off of 3B. Plus MLB tends to nearly always put a positive spin on some players. The Athletic for example has him moving to the OF or 1B.

Cam Smith probably has to move off of 3B defensively but his bat plays just about anywhere. So 1B or a corner OF spot would be fine. He has the arm strength and athleticism to play RF or LF. Smith actually reminds me of a former University of Miami player drafted by the Brewers. Though that player had a bit more power than Smith. But I think Smith could get to that same power.
