  1. Tell me you know nothing about economics without saying you know nothing about economics.
  2. If you read my full post and didn't stop at the first part it is fairly obvious I am talking about today's dollars compared to 1989.
  3. That same contract today would be about $8mm a season. So 3 years $24mm is what it would cost you for that contract today. There is no way you are getting someone like Yount for that. Actual contract is probably closer to 3 years $48mm taking his age into consideration in 1989. So you need to double the amount given out to those players after taking inflation into consideration. Even Reggie Jackson in 1976 would only cost about $4mm today per season. Definitely not signing anyone like Reggie for about $4mm today. If Reggie were a FA now he would be getting something closer to $20-$25mm a season. You are looking at about a 900% increase in FA cost from the 70’s-90’s. It is not until about 2000 where FA deals start to normalize and there isn’t as wide of a gap between the top players and now. That is only about a 20-year gap now.
  4. How is this a fine on the RB? This is an example of why the NFL just sucks now. Just remove the pads and helmets and go with flags already.
  5. LOL yes you own stock in the team but that is about it. Heck the board of directors could disregard your vote and there would be no penalty for them doing so and also nothing you can do about it as it is not guaranteed or protected by anything other than the Packers word. You bought a novelty item nothing more nothing less.
  6. I have posted this in the past but I will post this again. If you want to be in the CFP you have to play at a minimum two games against ranked opponents in the top 15 and they can’t be from your own conference. So if you are Ohio State then Michigan or Penn State wouldn’t count. I think this would make the actual season mean something. Rankings would also come out earlier in the preseason. If a team doesn’t have two scheduled outside their conference then they can’t play in the CFP.
  7. Very weird. Grissom must have no trade value if this is who he was traded for. Even with cash added to the deal it would have to be a significant amount for it to bring up the value.
  8. You would have to pay something close to what the Giants paid last year for Conforto. So at a minimum you are looking at 2-years $36mm.
  9. Flacco for another SB MVP?
  10. I really like this song:
  11. Russell Wilson expects to be released in March: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10102738-nfl-rumors-russell-wilson-expects-to-be-released-by-broncos-in-march-after-benching#:~:text=Wilson is "expecting to be,him from after this season."
  12. The Yankees definitely reject that before the Brewers do.
  13. I don’t think the Brewers would offer him a long term contract. Maybe a 4-year contract for $96mm with deferred payments for 2-years at $3mm per year if he opts out after year one otherwise it is $4mm per year for 5-years. Year one at $17mm, year two at $19mm, year three and four at $20mm each year. The Brewers wouldn’t be able to give Hader a QO after year one also. I don’t think this makes sense for the Brewers but this should be close to what it would take to sign him. I am not sure this makes much sense for Hader either.
  14. This probably says more about MLF than it does about Jaire. The team is going off the rails and it doesn't look like MLF is trying to fix it. But that is just my observation as a non Packers fan.
  15. I have no idea what the Blue Jays are doing here. 2-years and $15m for Kiner-Falefa?
  16. And only 8-years away from Demolition Man. When are the franchise wars supposed to happen again?
  17. They really can't make a trade though. The best option for the Bucks would be P.J. Tucker but they would either have to trade Connaughton + or Portis for Tucker. There just isn't any room to add anyone to the roster.
  18. I haven't used Sirius in a long time. I am glad I canceled my subscription long ago. I just use Pandora, Amazon Music, iHeart Radio or Apple Music. iHeart Radio is a superior platform to Sirius. Also your cars don't have phone projection?
  19. Players union only gets a say on the rules and MLB then either accepts their concerns or doesn't.
  20. This is some really bad defense. Something needs to be fixed but not sure what.
  21. Just leaving this here.
  22. This is exactly what they are doing. They are the only team so far connected with Snell that I have heard of. They will probably sign Snell and J.D. Martinez and then call it an offseason. Burnes just makes 0 sense at all even for the Angels.
  23. Mayo is a 1B and not a 3B. Defensively he is somewhere between average and below average at 3B.
  24. The Angels do dumb stuff but this would be extremely dumb if they did this. I don't see them making this type of a trade. It just subtracts without adding. Yeah I get that. But they won't do this type of a trade. It just doesn't make any sense at all for the Angels to make this type of a trade. I don't believe they would even trade Schanuel so I think the Angels are basically just a team you avoid with any type of trade for Burnes. The teams with prospects to trade for Burnes are the Dodgers, Braves, Rangers, Giants and Orioles. I think we can cross the Dodgers and Orioles off a possible Burnes trade destination so that leaves the Braves, Giants and Rangers. The three are really good options as they have some prospects the Brewers would be interested in.
  25. I doubt that gets introduced this year. I think they said they still have some work to do with it on the technology side of things. Mostly what they need is a bigger database of all the hitters and their strike zones. I think some of the MLB stadiums also need to be updated for the tech to work correctly and not all MLB stadiums have this tech installed or have older tech that is not compatible with the automated ball and strike system.
