  1. I'm procrastinating work and homework both, so I'll be watching the Mets-Rockies game. I'll hang in the chat room for awhile to see if anyone else is in the same boat.
  2. My guess is that wouldn't happen because we'd hate to see him get hurt at the plate trying to crush a ball. Or worse yet, get hit by a pitch that leaves a mark.
  3. While trying to get rid of my two extra tickets (at below face value, in the designated resale section), a scalper says to me "Missy, this isn't amateur hour, why don't you go over there (point to less desirable location)?" So I tell the guy he's selling to (who hasn't given him money yet) that my pair of tickets is only $20. Scalper must then sell his tickets (which were probably much better than mine) for $20. HA. And bucks, the wave killed me too. It went around the park 4 times, without any cool variations. Unoriginal, and unnecessary.
  4. And once again, a fan feels the need to grab a fair ball that's in play. Almost the same section too. I say the ushers need to have a special talk with the fans in that section tomorrow.
  5. I would just like to say that my pre-game prediction was almost dead-on. I was two-thirds of an inning of on McClung, and I had the score right...just switch the teams.
  6. Dad says there was an article in the paper this morning about how great Ned is on the iPhone
  7. I have three items that have been incredibly valuable for tailgating: -10' x 10' tent - just purchased yesterday, and it's already saved me one massive sunburn -2 lightweight horses and a 5' wood plank - The wood was in my garage when I bought my house, and the horses are cheap. Makes a great table without having to purchase one. -Grill Grate Grabber. I picked this up at Williams-Sonoma for $2 when someone returned it in the middle of winter. Never again will I touch a messy grill grate with my hands. Today I was just made aware of this crazy accessory: Tailgator. I guess it would be good if you just couldn't go without a daquiri while tailgating.
  8. By looking at the numbers, it doesn't appear we should win this one. Which leads me to believe Seth will pitch a 3-hitter in 7 innings and the Brewers will win 8-2. This team never seems to do what the numbers say it should. In a perfect world, Mota would be called in to pitch the 8th, but would get booed off the field by fans before he can even be announced. Then Gagne can pitch the 8th and 9th.
  9. When I was a kid, some of my favorite sports movies were Bad News Bears (the original ones, obviously), Mighty Ducks, and Little Giants. Maybe Remember The Titans, if you're ready to start talking about racism (yikes!). I really liked Jurassic Park as a kid too. I suppose a few people get eaten by dinosaurs, but I remember going to see it with Dad in the theater.
  10. Really? Because the commercial makes them look sooooo good.
  11. He forgot that Braun likes to pick up a little bit of dirt http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  12. Last night when the fan interfered with the ball in left field, I said to my Dad "If that was my kid, I'd have pulled them back in by the back of the shirt so they couldn't touch the ball." Imagine my surprise when I look closer and realize it was a full grown man (or appeared to be from up in the terrace). Who does that? The ball is in play, the game is close...don't touch it! I suppose I could make a similar post in the silver lining thread, because a few moments later the usher came down and escorted the guy out. That will teach him.
  13. UGH. The woot today was a bag of crap. I went to bed at 11:59 last night without thinking to check woot. Darnit.
  14. I've never been, but your post made me do some looking - the players and their locations are posted online: link I'm guessing your son could look at the list and plan what location he wants to go to first to make sure he gets his favorite player that's signing tonight.
  15. The board was crazy for about an hour on Wednesday night, starting at 11:45.
  16. I've got a pair up in the Trading Post, but they're in terrace reserved.
  17. Tristarscoop, Last year I rented a condo using www.homeaway.com. It's a listing service that allows you to view amenities, photos, and available dates of properties, but then you contact the owner of the condo directly. I got a 2-bedroom condo in Mesa for $600/week, which I thought was great. Some people tell me I wasn't in the best part of town, but it was a private condo complex and I felt completely safe. The condo could have slept up to 6 (2 queen beds and 1 air mattress) which would have been a super great deal! Even with just the three of us, I was happy to have a place to stay for $200/week. My Dad also goes to bed super early and leaves me wondering around the hotel alone until the wee hours of the morning. I watched so many episodes of Law & Order the first year I was there! I'd love to find more people in your/my situation that are heading down at the same time and perhaps arrange some evening get togethers. Just for fun I just checked flights from MKE-PHX on Saturdays in March. $300. I wouldn't expect it to go down any lower than $200, and to get a lot higher once Jan/Feb comes.
  18. A close relative of Bronson Arroyo?
  19. This site didn't work for almost 45 minutes this morning. My life is soooo exciting, that this had a major effect.
  20. I even have 2 Tombstones in the freezer...but I bought them for my dad to eat while he's here for brewers games, and they're supreme. UCK I strongly dislike supreme pizza. Onions and peppers and mushrooms are not good pizza toppings, in my opinion.
  21. This may be way too early, but between 2007 and 2008 I learned that if you make your plans early, the trip is much, much cheaper. I'll be heading down to Phoenix with my dad the week of March 8. This is the earliest I've ever gone, but it corresponds with Marquette's spring break (can't miss much in grad school), and will give me a chance to see more prospects - which will be great since I'm actually learning about them now. In 2007 we stayed in a hotel, and in 2008 we rented a condo. I'm thinking in 2009 I want to rent a house, either in Glendale or Scottsdale. This is way cheaper, makes for easy tailgate preparation, and cuts down on food costs because you can cook (or even just eat cereal). Is anyone else thinking about going to Phoenix that same time? Any tips, ideas? I'm sort of toying with the idea of getting a group of people together so I can have more fun at night. My dad is awesome to watch baseball with, but he's an old man and goes to bed around 8:00. I'm going to see if some of my friends want to go, but not many of them are excited about a vacation that revolves around baseball. So, if there are BF.netters that will be down there at the same time, maybe we could tailgate, go out, etc. Just thought I'd throw it out there, see if anyone wants to take their mind off the Mota disaster this evening and think of sunny Phoenix in March.
  22. I spend way too much time on this site...to the point where I'm reading threads that don't interest me just because I haven't read them yet. And I'm also hungry, thanks to the talk of the Tombstone pizza. I don't think I have any good food around though, even though I spent $100 at the grocery store today.
  23. You don't need to do it immediately, but the earlier you do it, the better chance you have for financial aid. The "real" deadline isn't until spring or summer before you go to college, but your school(s) will have a priority deadline that will allow you to maximize your financial aid. At UWM, I believe that is March 1.
  24. This is definitely a situation where I would support paying a player not to play.
  25. Did you fill out your FAFSA yet? Make sure you get it in sometime during the fall of your senior year so you are in the first wave of financial aid that's granted. That will give you a good idea of what the real cost of any school should be.
