  1. trade in the gas cans in our bullpen for some hoses.
  2. riske's blowups have flown under the radar this season. He really needs to get it together. I'm really tired of the dual personalities of our bullpen. One night awesome, the next night awful.
  3. If that was true, Ramirez wouldn't have done his bat flip thing. He knew it was gone. yeah it is pretty amazing that no one talks about his posturing. Hopefully he gets one in his ear for that.
  4. leaving for the ballpark in 10 minutes to have some gigantic 8 dollar (or whatever they decide to charge me today) bloody marys. Go Crew!
  5. 1st and 3rd with nobody out and rowand sits there and watches 3 strikes down the middle of the plate. pretty pathetic. he has to be agressive there knowing who is behind him. It was very reminiscent to that Dillon at bat against the Cardinals earlier this year, if you guys remember that one.
  6. wow rowand..they didn't pay you all that money to watch 3 called strilkes on this situation.
  7. the feeble giants have managed to put 2 runners on base in the ninth
  8. Ramirez has this way of ensuring that his team doesn't fall into a slump. Best instance I can think of is the first game of the Cubs-White Sox series. Chicago had just lost its first home series in a long time and the Brewers were making a move, and then Ramirez hit that walk off to win it and a few more over the weekend to make sure they swept them. I really can't stand him. but i have to respect the clutch homers.
  9. who didn't see that one coming? 3-0 Cubs
  10. i was just about to say lets get throught he 8th tied so the meat of the order can hit in the 9th, but then i saw the giants lineup and I slammed my head against my desk. what a pathetic lineup.
  11. How do the Giants justify playing Vizquel? he's hitting .154 brutal
  12. I'm going to agree with you halfway here. CC wore down last year, and if "next year" equates to late september and the playoffs we could be in trouble. then again, we probably will be without both of them, and we have to pretty much ride them hard if we want to get into the playoffs anyway. so i guess it can go both ways. i just don't like seeing 120 pitches every start for both of them. 13. 1. this team is really racking up the strikeouts. I think I saw we have 6 of the top 35-40 guys in the NL 2. We need to get better situational hitting. this is no shock, as the Brewers have always needed this. 3. We are in serious need of a dominant bullpen guy. Riske, Mota, and Gagne have been gas cans most of the season. 4. We need to hope we don't have an extended power outage, because this team is going to win as long as the homers keep flying out of the park.
  14. sure he'll stay long term. All it will take is a check for $120 million.
  15. One thing I am anti-Ned on big time is his pitcher abuse. has anyone seen the PAP points on Sheets? Now with Sabathia we have 2 of the top 5 abused pitchers, and others are heading up the list. I wonder if this is going to cost us down the road.
  16. Would it be giving Ned too much credit to say that he acts pompously on purpose so that a lot of the attention is on Ned's behavior instead of the psyche of slumping players? I for one am baffled that the major media seems to have completely backed off on Rickie Weeks although he has been bad for basically the entire year. That is just one example I can think of. (fixed code http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif --1992)
  17. although performance wise lately it should be suppan in the pen, I doubt the Brewers want a pitch to contact type guy in any meaningful relief role. Therefore, its probably got to be McClung, although I'm really turning the corner on the guy. I love his approach and he's really been having some solid outings for us.
  18. very good post, and not just because I have most of the same feeling as you do. one last question for those still in this debate: Do you give Yost any managerial "points" for basically sealing off his players from criticism? Or is the consensus that this has nothing to do with his actual job? I myself haven't decided whether to "raise" ned's grade due to this
  19. Ok although i've posted too much on this subject, I just want to add that I think Ned acts like a jerk almost all of the time. For me his likeability factor is F-, but I do think he is a good fit for this team.
  20. I'm already a big enough idiot so assuming things isn't going to hurt my cause too muchhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I understand both sides of the Yost argument, although I guess I tend to be easier on him than others just because I look at the relationship between the talent on a team and the team's performance. I think the Brewers are talented, but they are not as good of a team as the Cubs. Therefore, I think (assume) we are right where we are supposed to be. oops, i did it againhttp://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif (edit: long nested quote --1992)
  21. Hey come on now!!! Yost's media relations have cost us at least 5 wins His inability to stop us from having 6 of the top 38 in the NL in strikeouts also has cost us 5 games. He also is the main reason we have a low batting average and struggle manufacturing runs. In fact we probably would have 70 wins with a better manager http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tired.gif Hey lets face it Ned isn't perfect and has made his fair share of mistakes. Its always easier to remember the bad losses thent he solid victories. But are people really giving him D- and F grades?? What would he have to do to get even a passing grade then? Do people think this team is underperforming THAT much?
  22. he says "seems to me" so he is just giving his impression of what HE THINKS the rational is behind people blasting Yost. He is NOT declaring that he knows why you and others have your opinion on Yost, just his impression of why you do. There is nothing wrong with that statement. Just like there is nothing wrong with yours. I happen to agree with him that people will refuse to give Ned any credit even if we do make the playoffs, but hey, that's only my opinion. And I for one think that a huge percentage of what goes on this board is assumption-based. A lot of times we don't have the facts behind why someone has a certain opinion or acts a certain way, so aren't we allowed to make an assumption as long as it is clarified that we aren't stating it as a fact.
  23. Maddux + Miller Park +Brewer Defense = Ugly At this point Maddux is not worthwhile. the only way I'd be ok with it is if Bush and McClung both went down the tubes in a hurry. I am anxious to see if Bush can take some of this momentum on the road and continue to pitch solidly. McClung has done everything expected of him and more as a starter.
  24. going against the suddenly unstoppable Kyle Lohse they have no chance. I can't for the life of me understand how a guy the Phillies couldn't give away is 10-2 right now.
  25. this is just as bad of a mismatch as Sheets vs. Rusch oh wait.....
