  1. Hey Patrick - you missed season 3 when my favorite leap of faith happened. Tony Almeida was shot in the neck, underwent surgery with general anesthesia, and walked back into CTU 3 hours later. And now a theory for the end of the season: In the last hour they will find the Bioweapon, destroy it, Hodges will probably be exposed to the weapon first, and then Jack will find out that there is a cure to the bio-agent but it will take up to 24 hours to create / find it. TaDa! Next season. (and then everybody can be awake for 48 consecutive hours.)
  2. I know some of you live in the Chicago area or travel to this area on occasion. How about the person that does not possess a tollway I-Pass and has to wait until getting up to the exact change booth before even beginning to look for that exact change? And just like the person that doesn't fill out the check before hand, I am irritated by the person that waits until the entire order has been wrung before going into the purse or pocket for the Check/debit/credit card that could have been swiped as soon as the order was started.
  3. I've been there for football but not baseball. From my football experience and from what baseball I've seen on TV, my suggestion would be to stay in your hotel room and watch on TV. Or better yet find a bar where you can antagonize Twins fans. (if you can find any Twins fans)
  4. Yes, that was the first time I picked up on a silent countdown. I almost cried. Another unspoken line: Jack: "Larry, if you thought I was killing him why didn't you come in and stop me." Larry: "Because the video showed you just interrogating without touching him." Jack: "When exactly did I have time to set that up with you watching me the whole time, you moron?" I'm gonna love next week's confrontation with Senator Mayer.
  5. I'm just curious as to how some of you come up with these names and leave off others. Ryan Braun has had 1 season in left field but he's your all-time best left fielder? CC Sabathia 1/2 of a season (an outstanding 1/2 I'll admit) put's him on your list? I agree that Jenkins should probably be there - I know he gave us fits I also know that Rob Deer struck out a lot but for those that want to include Branyan on the good list why not Deer? More notably is the bad list In your 40 year history you can't find a worse closer than Turnbow - perhaps you forgot about 2005 Yeah Glendon Rusch had a 1-12 mark in 2003 but you forgot about 2002 when his numbers were only a little behind Sheets? I really think a 1970 version of Gene Brabender would have been a better inclusion. 100 losses in 2002 isn't a worse managing job than Ned did in his years?
  6. At the beginning of last night's 1st hour I looked at Dubaku laying in bed and I said to mrs1126, "They're gonna get him." She said, "What do you mean?" Then came the phony phone call and the IV injection. She looked at me and said, "This show is becoming way too predictable." At the end of the second hour after the doors were opened and Jack and the Pres came out, Sen Mayer said to Jack, "What have you done Bauer?" MISSING LINE: "I was following orders, just like you wanted me to you pompous, arrogant, (expletive deleted)."
  7. This signing by the Cubs has got to no more than a little insurance to back up third base. Right now the only replacements for Ramirez are Miles (a second baseman) and Fontenot (a second baseman) and the 2 of them are also the backups to Theriot. I'm also certain that Koskie will get plenty of time at Iowa or Tennessee before he is added to the Chicago roster.
  8. DISCLAIMER: From someone who works at Corporate McDonald's The Big Mac-Chicken with Cheese... and the McGangBang will not be found on any McDonald's menu. These are strictly the creation of someone attempting to actually have a heart attack. Incidently, the McGangBang would be less caloric if you were to use the McDouble instead of the Double Cheeseburger - 1 less piece of cheese.
  9. Who the heck is Darwin Barney? It's spring training and while winning is nice I really don't care who wins the game. I do want to see my pitchers get into some good habits and my hitters hit the ball. Other than that we are only 39 days away from opening day.
  10. It didn't come from northside baseball or any other Cubs site. It means that you've lost your Gold status and someone needs to pay the tab.
  11. I was last there in 1996 for the Summer Olympics and the rapid transit system was a good way to get around. In fact, at that time it was the ONLY way to get around. There was a station fairly close to Turner Field (or whatever it's called). As far as safe - hey if your group sticks together and acts respectful, you won't have a problem. I believe that CokeWorld was built for the '96 games (Atlanta is the home of Coca Cola if you didn't know) and while I don't remember specifics, we spent about 5 hours there and had a great time. Probably been revised quite a bit since then.
  12. Homer, I know it's 2 weeks later but you can thank me for that 63 day back on the 10th. I was in Cancun and brought back that weather. Yes, it was 65 - 70 in Cancun the 1st week in February. Locals were freezing. Hah!
  13. How come nobody likes me?
  14. 2x4's, Plywood, wainscotting, and a counter top is the cheapest way to go. You can design it and paint/stain it however you want it to look. Be creative!
  15. Bought my Wii just 10 days ago which included the Wii Sports disk. Tennis - will wear you out Bowling is fun Boxing haven't tried - mrs1126 and I were going to try it on each other but it required a second Nunchuk Golf - Driver, iron and putter were easy - very difficult to get used to the wedge - back and forth across the green a lot. Baseball - just using a straight fastball was hard to hit. and be careful - it's easy to hit the other player when swinging the "bat". Also bought the Wii Play game because it included another controller - bunch of cutsie games on it. The day we bought (Sunday afternoon) it nobody had in stock Mario Kart or Wii Fit. With the knowledge in mind that a lot of stores receive their electronic shipments on Sunday morning (used that to success at Christmastime) went this past Sunday morning and found both games on the shelf at Wal-Mart. Mario Kart is a blast and Wii-Fit lies about your weight! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif And whoever suggested Walmart because they had lower prices on games - FUGGEDABAHADIT - No discounts until they have been out for a while and have become passe' to most players.
  16. Dubaku is caught! Sean is caught! But we still have 14 hours to go. Alright. How many of you (like me) thought that after Jack pulled Marika out of the soon to explode SUV, he would turn around and see that Dubaku had crawled away?
  17. This is not something you should be worrying about. You've previously talked about Harry Carey. What about Skip? Grew up in St Louis, had to be a Cardinal fan. Do you think that mattered when he was hired by the Braves? What about players? Do you think Tom Glavine cared that he was pitching against the Braves when he was with the Mets - a division rival? After Kerry Wood signed with Cleveland, he took out a full page ad in all Chicago newspapers expressing his gratitude to Chicago fans and stating that Chicago will always be his home. How much do you think that will matter when the Indians visit Wrigley in June and he comes in with the game on the line. NOT ONE IOTA. You should really be more worried about replacing CC and Ben. That's not a slam - that's a fact.
  18. Back to the business of talking about this season. We now know for certain who is the mole. He seemed too obvious but it is indeed is Sean. Chloe and Larry need to go off on Janis and tell her to butt out. She may have screwed up the operation. Nice to see Morris and Aaron return and I really loved the way that the President's daughter went from a hard-nosed "witch" to a sniveling wuss in the flash of an eye. Based on the previews, it looks like Marika is going to die as, that being the reason that Renee goes off on Jack. And Dubaku keeps getting away. ********** To the previous poster that doesn't like Chloe: you really need to see some of the previous seasons where she was in the field with an automatic weapon and when she watched Edgar die on the other side of the sealed room. BTW - I read a TV Guide article that explains that Garafolo and Rajskub (Janis and Chloe) are good friends and with both being comediennes, really had a hard time keeping a straight face during shooting of the scenes.
  19. Technicality: 6:46 AM Logan was driven away to be arrested 6:48 AM Jack was abducted and shipped off to China 6:53 Karen tells Buchanan that she thinks Logan will resign and try to cut a deal for clemency. Since the Vice President will soon be sworn in as President, ... (Meaning Logan was President when Jack is abducted) When Jack returned 18 months later, Wayne Palmer was President. ERGO: Jack never served under the VP that replaced Logan! (Though in the most technical terms the VP would assume authority before being sworn in which would mean that Jack served under him for 2 minutes - but that is even more of a stretch than what I am stating) Source: http://www.fox.com/24/episodes/season5/ Also: Since I have not seen season 1 or 2, I did not know about David Palmer's temporary step down.
  20. Let's do this again Season 1 President Pre-Palmer (1) Seasons 2,3 President David Palmer (2) Season 4 President ????? (3) (plane shot down), President Logan (4) Season 5 President Logan (still 4) Season 6 President Wayne Palmer (5), President Daniels (6) Season 7 (current) President Taylor (7)
  21. Seasons 1,2,3 David Palmer (elected in 1st season) - 1 termSeason 4 President ????? (plane shot down), President Logan - 1 term Season 5 President Logan same term Season 6 President Wayne Palmer, President Daniels - 1 term Season 7 (current) President Taylor - 1 month I didn't watch seasons 1 or 2 so I don't know if there was a President in the story line before David Palmer but obviously that would have been another President that Jack worked for. So that's 7 presidents - 3 full terms and parts of 2 others (unless David Palmer served 2 terms) 12+ years
  22. That is exactly why the game is scheduled for Columbus. Why play against Mexico in California, Texas, Miami, Chicago, Boston, or New York where the visiting team's fans would outnumber the home squad? The expected cold was another consideration.
  23. I am amazed at the route this plane had to take to land safely on the Hudson River. Laguardia is in Queens right next to the East River (east of Manhattan) while the Hudson is west of Manhattan. Laguardia's 2 runways are parallel and perpendicular to Manhattan. Huge kudos to the pilot. http://maps.google.com/ma...0.11621,0.219727&z=12
  24. Jack's father (James Cromwell) was on the oil rig when it blew up. It seems to be assumed that he also blew up, but I have speculated all along that he may have rolled into the ocean prior to the explosion. We shall see.
