  1. Why wouldn't you count the team that won the Super Bowl? Because the Atlanta Falcons were the no. 1 seed with a 13-3 record and then got punched in the mouth by a hot 10-6 wild card team. Other teams come up short too. It’s not just a Packer thing.
  2. I don't. Giannis is the single best asset in the entire NBA. Really hard to blame them for not topping that in 5 years. And then I'd say they've brought a pretty biggest asset to the Bucks by helping them build a stadium. Or adding a full supporting cast of players around those two. Or coach Bud. I get the sense that Lasry and Edens believe the team’s recent success is due, in part, to their ‘superior management,’ and while I credit them for securing the arena (which also enriched their own interests), I was merely pointing out they inherited their two best basketball assets. And while Coach Bud is great, they also employed an unqualified personal friend for 4 years.
  3. On the subject of Packers’ playoff heartbreaks: They’ve certainly had their fair share, but some fans act like they’ve left a dynasty on the table. In the last 30 years, the Packers have arguably been the best team in the league four times - 1996, 1997, 2011, and 2014 (I’m not counting the 10-6 wild card team from 2010). Two championships in that span isn’t bad. It could easily be zero. But calling Packer fans spoiled also seems like a stretch.
  4. It’s funny to think that Lasry and Edens have owned the team for 5 years and the Bucks’ two best assets (Giannis and Middleton) are holdovers from the Herb Kohl era.
  5. I think (most) Wisconsin sports fans are pretty well-adjusted as a result of the aforementioned disappointments. I’ll never fully understand the people who constantly bag on the Packers. I’m not suggesting the team is immune from criticism, but they’ve given me two of my best sports memories. Let’s not forget how ridiculously difficult it is to win a championship (as evidenced by the Bucks’ and Brewers’ eternal struggles).
  6. I hope he’s getting $7 million dollars and not $7 million yen (~$600,000 USD). Better double check.
  7. The same article listed Yordano Ventura as the Royals next HOF player. Between that and Dubon, I briefly thought I was reading a really awful piece of satire. Then I realized it was published 2 weeks before Ventura passed away. Sad.
  8. I still think his floor is an unconditional 7th or a swap of late round picks. To your point, I’d gladly take a 6th and be done with him. The sooner they can move on from the late TT years, the better.
  9. What is Josh Jones worth to another team? A 6th? A 7th? Surely, there’s still some value there for a good ST player on a rookie contract.
  10. There are 2 popular reasons. First being Jar Jar Binks. He was created supposedly to attract kids but just came off as absurdly ridiculous. The second was the establishment of the midichlorians. Part of the mystique of the original trilogy was this surreal thing of the force that any Tom Dick or Luke could master. It left the idea that anyone could kick butt and be one with the force with enough training. The midichlorians cheapened that stating only those special enough to have midichlorians could use the force. Thanks, that makes sense. I can see how Episode I might have been disappointing for someone who grew up with the original trilogy and waited 15 years for another film, but I just don’t buy it’s status as an abomination. I was a teenager when I saw Episode I and still consider it a good movie (not great ... by no means did I imply it is a great movie).
  11. I’m not really a Star Wars fan. I enjoyed the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy (to a lesser extent). I might see the new ones if my young son asks to watch them in a few years. That being said, I don’t understand the hate directed towards Episode I.
  12. It’s really a bummer that since 2014, the Lakers have drafted: 7-2-2-2-10-4 They have all the advantages of a large market team and the balls bounce their way more often than not.
  13. What jersey number will he wear? 2?
  14. especially when they often make you wait 30-45 mins. My big question is why do I have to fill out the same background/health history paperwork every time. wouldn't my doctor already know if there has been any changes to my health history I suppose there is the possibility that you’ve received care from a different provider since the last time you visited your primary care provider. But to your point, I feel like every other visit, my primary care provider has a ‘new system’ and has to collect the same information I’ve already provided a dozen times.
  15. Anyone else catch the story about how the Padres changed their Twitter handle to @Madres in honor of Mothers’ Day and then someone else claimed @Padres since it was no longer in use. Twitter eventually straightened it out for them, but I’m sure someone in San Diego had a rough day at the office.
  16. Did anyone’s favorite show get axed this week?
  17. I don’t think the Ted Thompson news came as a shock to many people. Given the circumstances, I hope fans choose to weigh his early tenure more heavily than his later years. He built a Super Bowl winning roster from scratch and, for that, I will always be grateful.
  18. First of all, Bills fans do a LOT of really stupid, really dangerous crap in the pre-games. Guys are regularly going to the hospital and they have to spend quite a bit on security for the parking lots. But second, and most importantly....why NOT do this if you're the Bills? The fans are going to pay for it. I doubt they have any drop off in attendance and if they have fewer people tailgating, they probably won't be too upset given how obnoxious they are. I get the idea, it sucks that they keep trying to take more money from the fans, but that's corporate America. The biggest corporations pay very little in taxes, CEO's break the law and the company gets fined 500 million and he gets a 250 million dollar bonus on his way out because they still made a few billion on the deal. Just the way of the world. Look, it’d be different if the Bills we’re enjoying sustained success. The Packers have further monetized their parking lot by adding VIP areas at the expense of the little guy who just wanted to park nearby for $25. That’s business. I get it. The Bills have been awful for 20 years, but their most loyal fans have still found a way to make game day fun on their own (while still paying full price for a bad product). If they need more security on game day, just raise the parking prices.
  19. There’s no NFL offseason thread, so I’ll leave this here: Anyone else catch that the Bills are going to charge fans arriving on buses a premium beyond parking fees for the privelage of tailgating? Here the team has been awful for 20 years and the Bills Mafia has still found a way to make tailgating fun, but then the brass comes in to monetize it under the guise of ‘fan safety.’
  20. I read he can play all three positions up front. Good depth pick.
  21. They always seem to run out of big guys by the end of the season. At this point in the draft, you’re either adding depth or buying lottery tickets.
  22. I’m with you. I enjoyed the 3 Iron Man movies, but the original Avengers film was a little too ‘science-fictiony’ for my tastes. That being said, I think a 22-film story arc is impressive and I wouldn’t mind watching all the MCU movies with my young son in a few years.
  23. I’d like to see them add a RB and maybe a CB in the later rounds, but I imagine it’s BPA from this point out.
