  1. JP Morgan is coming out with a free trading app similar to Robinhood. If you trust the name brand better, you could wait until it’s out. Otherwise, I don’t know of another place where you can invest in individual stocks $100 at a time without the commissions making it impractical. You don’t wait to invest. You invest and wait, right?
  2. When I first started this thread, I anticipated the average answer would be 60-65. In actuality, it seems like most responses have been in the 55-60 range. Either we’re all good planners or just optimistic - probably some combination of both. On average, I feel like each child delays a parent’s retirement by about 5 years. This makes an apples and oranges situation out of comparing everyone’s goals. Nonetheless, it’s fun to talk about. I enjoyed reading everyone’s 2 cents. Thanks for indulging me.
  3. I treasure my ‘08 Brewers Wild Card tee ... it all depends on the circumstances. I certainly wouldn’t buy a Packers’ Wild Card tee, but I wouldn’t fault a Browns fan for buying one if they made the playoffs this year.
  4. The Horizon League sponsors baseball, so there would at least be a slate of home games for UWGB to count on every year. Still, the weather would be a significant obstacle - not just for scheduling, but also for fans and recruiting.
  5. Seriously? I need to see this. Yes, please.
  6. What do you want to buy? The user experience is excellent, but the platform has some limitations (you get what you pay for, right?). For example, I was interested in a recent preferred stock issuance from a bank, but it was not supported by Robinhood. Overall, I’m quite satisfied. Just take the plunge. It’s free. You can always look for a different platform if you’re dissatisfied.
  7. Realistically, I’d guess there’s a 10-20% this happens, but I still applaud them for thinking big and finding ways to keep talented kids in Wisconsin. I’m not referring to football players, but rather students who might value big time football (relative term) as part of their college experience.
  8. On the health concern, I don’t think CTE would be a liability for a brand new program. The risk is known. Waivers can be signed. There are still plenty of students willing to assume that risk for a) a slim chance at the NFL or b) so they can impress pretty girls. The long-established programs are the ones who should be concerned about CTE liability. As far as whether or not it makes sense for UWGB, I don’t know, but I applaud them for looking into it. Athletics help drive admissions and donations, even if that doesn’t show up in an athletic department’s Profit / Loss statement.
  9. I don’t think so. The article suggests that the program would be ‘non-scholarship’ (there are a few non-scholarship leagues in FCS). If anything, it might pull the best players from the WIAC schools.
  10. It doesn’t look like the MLB Shop has marked anything down yet. Maybe that will come after the World Series? Please post if you see a good deal. There’s a UA postseason sweatshirt at Kohl’s that I like, but if they’re still charging full price for Lucroy jerseys, then I doubt someone went around marking sweatshirts down after the NLCS. Fingers crossed for a Black Friday sale.
  11. Or at what age did you retire? I’m just curious about everyone’s perception. For me, it’s 55. If I’m in good health and still don’t mind showing up to the office every day, I could see myself working longer. However, I’m concerned that the decision won’t be up to me and it’s therefore best to be prepared. I think my wife and I are off to a good start, but it’s scary to think we only have 20 years left to earn all the money we’ll ever need.
  12. This is a link to a recent Green Bay Press Gazette article. It sounds like they are considering a feasibility study. The AD mentions it would take a minimum of 6 years to field a team and they would require some major facilities upgrades. UWGB’s enrollment has increased from 5,000 to nearly 8,000 in the last 10 years and they will be opening a new engineering school in 2019, as well as adding some new graduate programs. I have no hopes of them dethroning Alabama any time soon, but have always wondered why they don’t have the athletic profile of a school like Akron or Toledo. They’ve been fortunate to field some decent teams with the smallest budget in the Horizon League. Count me in for season tickets if they can find a way to make this happen. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.greenbaypressgazette.com/amp/1739232002
  13. I wonder if there’s anything in the Raiders fire sale that could help the Packers? I’m not advocating for any particular player or demanding they make a move, but if there’s good value to be had for a late round pick, I’d like to see them make that move.
  14. I think we’d get along well. I’ve been keen on Superstore since its first season, but did not consider that Dina’s baby may be Garrett’s until just now. The two new sitcoms I’ve started this year are Single Parents on ABC and I Feel Bad on NBC - too early to tell on either, but early returns are good. The 3 shows my wife and I watch together are Last Man Standing, Splitting Up Together, and The Goldbergs. The Goldbergs is the best current network sitcom, in my opinion.
  15. Game 163 made the entire season a success, in my opinion.
  16. The problem was that they tried to market it as a zany comedy. It could be that sometimes but that's not what is was at the core. So people and critics tuned in expecting a zany comedy and when they didn't get that, they turned it off. I also thought Will Forte’s character was too far out there. I get that he’s supposed to be a decent, but flawed human being, but some of the Tandy gags dragged on for too long (and this is from a big Macgruber fan). So in addition to having a low jokes / minute ratio, some jokes went on for too long, IMO. Still, I praise them for being different and making a difficult concept work within the confines of a network sitcom.
  17. Arcia really played well in September and October. I think we can count on him at SS next year, whereas there were a lot of questions at the ASB.
  18. I was planning on having a couch fire in my yard if the Brewers won the World Series, so I guess I don’t have to spend $1000 on a replacement couch.
  19. If I had a complaint about the show, it was that the humor was slow to develop. I would go weeks without watching it and let new episodes accumulate on my DVR until I was in the right mood to watch them. I can see why it was cancelled, but I will miss it. It was unique.
  20. I wonder if Counsell considered starting Hader tonight? In a win or go home situation, why not go with your best guy first?
  21. The timing works with the pitcher’s spot coming up. He gave us 3 scoreless innings ... pretty decent night for a reliever.
