  1. The flip was extremely overrated. However the second part of your statement doesn't say much as the stage it happened on is relevant. That's how all memorable plays are. Of course "better" plays happen in meaningless games. But the play itself just wasn't all that impressive. It was nice, not some otherworldly act of a God. I've always thought "The Catch" was incredibly lame.
  2. Dallas looked pretty good aside from the kicker.
  3. I think he'll be OK but even prior to the 30-INT disaster he was throwing too many picks. Maybe a Payton offense can help him out. I think he'll be good enough that they're a formidable opponent most weeks and he's exactly the kind of journeyman blah QB that traditionally goes 37-45 for 445 yards against our defense. I think we'll win by 10 though.
  4. The lower priced seats (upper deck) behind the plate at Oracle are incredible. They have awesome sight lines of the field but more specifically the Bay and sky. Go to a later game if possible because it is beautiful. It's my favorite stadium. Haven't done Oakland but have heard less flattering things. Funny enough the popular concession item at Oracle is a Sheybogan Bratwurst served on a sourdough roll with kraut and onions. It was quite good though I heard they don't have them this year, or at least didn't, due to supplier issues just about everyone is having. Not sure if they're still absent though.
  5. I was going to say something about how most of those HOFs were washed up by then, but no, they really weren't. Really the one not playing at his HOF level was Sutton.
  6. It annoys me that the regular season bleeds into October.
  7. If you think the Red Sox or Yankees won't have a ton of fans showing up in MKE you're going to be disappointed. Particularly the Yankees who've been absent froom the WS for a surprisingly long time now. Well maybe not disappointed because it means we are playing . It's not just travel when you play a team like that (even though there would be significant travel). They live all over the place. But they don't have to show up in great number to drive the price up. Just a few thousand have the power the raise the floor.
  8. If the NBA Finals are any indication on how much tickets maybe then I think you are looking at the cheapest seats being something like $800. In Phoenix the cheapest ticket I could find for the NBA Finals was around $900 all the way up on top those usually go for about $20-40 a ticket. I don’t think you’d get in for $500 even if we were down 0-3 in the series. Before Game 7 in 2018 a WS ticket would have cost you about $1,000. That was us not hosting the WS too. It's all about the timing and luck. Sometimes snapping them up ASAP saves money. Other times you get burned and get major deals right before the game. I'd guess that getting in the door for Game 1 of the WS would be $6-800. The flow of the series would probably dictate the rest. There are a lot more seats available than the Finals so it's a bit of a different animal. The opponent might matter as well. I'd guess Tampa will be different than the Yankees.
  9. I realized today that if the Brewers are in a Game 7 of the WS I'll be on a plane during the game despite having tickets.
  10. I feel like ND and UW are basically the same level for the past 30 years with the Badgers actually being really bad less often. Both get hyped up quite a bit, neither seems to be able to seal the deal. They both strike me as Tier 2 programs that just can't get get into Tier 1.
  11. Wisconsin will do the typical Wisconsin thing which is beat Notre Dame and creep back to #10 after winning a few games, then lose to Iowa or Northwestern or something and end the season with 3 losses and an appearance in the Enron Bowl sponsored by Hallmark.
  12. Honestly, because the scheme put them in a chance to win.... twice, as it has 70-80% of the time since Chryst took over. The game plan got them into a position where if any of Mertz' throws in to the endzone had connected, they had a chance to win with an XP. Instead, his throws that actually made it there were inaccurate, on one drive necessitated by a second fumbled handoff, and resulted in two redzone interceptions. The Badgers clearly have chosen to rely on winning time of possession, pounding an opponent into submission, and playing stifling defense. In the end, Mertz wasn't the only reason they lost today- the OTs played like garbage, they allowed a FG block that dramatically changed the course of the game at the end, and allowed three big pass plays in the 2nd half on blown coverages (not to mention that PSU had receivers open on other plays but the QB overshot them on deep balls). Plenty of stuff to clean up. But, winning the way Wisconsin is designed to win necessitates a smart QB that makes sound decisions and 'doesn't lose the game'. Hornibrook was the opposite of that guy, and Mertz looks a lot like that at this point. Coan didn't lose you games, even if he didn't make big plays to be the guy that won it. In the end, Mertz turned the ball over three times in the red zone, and that's on him. Maybe the QB can't make those throws, hence not calling them. He hasn't hit the mid-throws since Illinois- why would they trust him to make longer ones? They see him in practice each day, and have seen him in camp. If he's wildly inaccurate, as he has been in game play, they're not going to build a scheme around attempting passes that have a low probability of success. Nor should they. We as fans only remember the hype of the recruiting rankings and an absurd first game against a bad Illinois team. Since then, everything else suggests that they may be vanilla on offense because the QB's play necessitates it. I'm not a Badgers fan but there is no way to defend Mertz at the moment. There have been odd Covid circumstances that perhaps have slowed his development but right now the guy just does not look good. The homerism is causing some to place blame everywhere but there, but the dude flat out air balled the go-ahead touchdown way over the WR's head. A blue chip has to make that pass.
  13. Don't know about ILB but Dafney is definitely not a primarily blocking TE. He's very athletic played some wildcat QB in college. Probably a hybrid type H-Back that they are keeping around as a project.
  14. Having a WR on your practice squad who's played meaningful games, has put up sub-level stats and has years in the system is a huge luxury. I'll be pretty surprised if some other team doesn't take him off our practice squad just for that reason + the fact that we have still kept him, so we must think he's at least OK.
  15. This stuff is so silly. It's like the Brewers trying to do a zip code presale. For one, Packers fans will just fly to the cheaper city and drive a few hours if the flight in is that much more. And second and more importantly, their fans don't just travel; they live all over the place. There are probably enough WI retirees to fill that stadium.
  16. To be clear I'd rather be playing at home. But I don't think it's anything to bother thinking about twice if we aren't. Like yeah it's nice, but if not, it's not the kind of death blow I think it can 100% be in the NBA.
  17. I think Yiadom is there to play ST.
  18. Baseball plays a 2-3-2 so even having the better seed is of questionable importance. I'd rather be at home in the NLDS but I'd guess the LCS is a random 50/50 split and I think I remember some stat that the road team has fared better in Game 7. I don't think it matters at all, to be honest. Yeah there is energy, and it dissipates immediately when it's 2-0 in the 2nd inning. I've watched the road team dance on our field the last two LCS.
  19. I honestly don't think the seed means anything in baseball aside from not having to win the play-in game.
  20. Yeah, when a guy or two gets hurt St. Brown could be a nice option to have available.
  21. I think all you realistically hope for is that LAD/SF loses the play-in.
  22. I don't think it matters. Baseball has a huge randomness factor and in any event the Brewers have to beat someone really, really good at least twice to win a World Series. As a WI fan I've spent many years hoping to get a certain 'easy' matchup only to get it and then lose. Just try to win every game then the chips fall where they do.
  23. I don't think the Saints are going to be very good but this essentially became a home game for the Packers. It shouldn't be as brutally hot as Miami although we have seen Packers teams really struggle in hot climates in early season games.
  24. The Brewers aren't even all that good at home and have been exceptional on the road.
  25. Yeah I mean this isn't BJ Sander here, people.
