Sean Payton and Mike McCarthy have almost identical records as HCs. 178-107 and 174-112-2. 9-9 and 11-11 in the playoffs, respectively. One Super Bowl, most of their success on the back of a HOF QB. Payton has this reputation for being a genius that just wins and McCarthy is an out-of-work dope. Never has made any sense to me. They are the same guy.

How many times in the last 30 years have the Packers been an underdog of more than a touchdown? I would think that is a very small number. Literally never outside of a couple very poor seasons where they were using a backup QB, or 2005 with Favre.

Hopefully Joey Ortiz is "transferred" to somewhere else.

This seems headed toward Josh Sitton territory where he is just cut because the whole league knows he wants out and the Packers want to get rid of him. The way he's played I don't think you're getting anything better than a 6th, and and that's if a team is willing to take his number on. Which they don't have to do if they just wait for him to be cut.

Love has a QB rating of 108 and is 6th in QBR this season playing most of it without Watson and Reed, and an interior OL that is hurt, sucks or possibly both. He has turned the ball over 3 times. His accuracy is up drastically this season (eclipsing 70%) and he has a career high in YPA. He has however almost been sacked as many times as he was all of last season already. He is, pretty objectively, having his best season. I don't really understand the slander he's been taking, I guess because he's not Josh Allen or something. I think he is plenty good enough to be a championship QB, but this team is, IMO, bottom 1/3 of the league on both sides of its line. They also do not force turnovers hardly ever. Defensively they are still kind of disappointing, but it's not because of Parsons not playing well. Banks and Hobbs were terrible additions, Jenkins is not working at center. Eight weeks in, when you think about it, nothing should be all that surprising. There was a chorus right before the Parsons trade (myself included) that felt they were the same good but not great team they were last year. Parsons really inflated their hype a bit, but they do kinda look like the same level of team of the past 2 years. Philadelphia will be a good litmus test. The difference between this year and last thus far has been that last year, they beat everyone they should have, but couldn't beat anyone good. This year they haven't really been tested outside of Week 1, which, eh, Week 1, and I guess Pittsburgh is decent. I am invested in what kind of effort we get this weekend. They have looked right about the 5-3 team they are lucky not to be. If they play well and win, it should emphasize that the NFC is up for grabs and they are a contender.

MLF is going to be fired this offseason. That is my prediction. They will underachieve again, win 10 or so games, lose early in the playoffs and the brass will have seen enough. Not the results they are looking for after trading away first round draft picks.

Love has 3 picks through 8 games. Before someone says he should have 6 but they were dropped - that is the case for every QB in the league. Love is fine. He is having a very good season. He has cut way back on exactly the kind of thing you are pointing out. Not every QB we have is going to be Rodgers. He is way down the list of things stopping this team from elevating right now.

Sounds like we have seen the last of Kraft. Don't think this offense is good enough to overcome a blow like that.

We did one worse. They were afraid to throw so we let them rattle off a 20+ run in a 2-minute drill when everyone knew they were going do it. And despite that, this offense should be scoring 16+ points. Matt sucks though. I've seen him spearhead too many choke jobs to count.

A well-earned result for the Packers.

2TD favorite going to drop a game to Carolina at home in which the opposing QB threw for 100 yards and you put up 13 pts. Matt needs to go. Can't keep letting his pretty records deceive. This team continues to underperform.

There's too much time left. You consider it if the game is ending, but they will be trying to kick a FG either way. If they are down by 1, they're in 4 down territory. They'll punt in an unfavorable down and distance if it's tied.

I would hate it simply because it gives Carolina urgency to kick a winning FG. If you stop them on their side of the field they will punt.

This game has sloppy multi INT vibes all over it.

The FG doesn't really do anything for you but I still would have kicked it and I guess hope the defense does something. Assuming he makes it is a bit of a leap at this point though.

I'd kick the FG. This is a low percentage play here and I'd just want some point. Then hope a TD gives you a lead.

If we are average, the whole league is average or worse. You are what your record is. But we have definitely made this our M.O. McManus is one more bad kick away from possibly finding a spot on the waiver wire. And I hope the Packers win the Super Bowl. But I am fine with the MLF experience ending at any point.

This team is nowhere near as good as the Packers and it would be refreshing to pick up from last week's 2nd half, at home, and beat the brakes off them.

I think the Brewers are plenty close. The competitive nature of TOR/SEA and then TOR/LAD makes me think we just gassed out at a very bad time. Woodruff was big. Then our horses just didn't hit. Perhaps taking out the Cubs was the catharsis for our guys and they just couldn't get going after. Obviously, baseball has structural problems. But if Smith's toe came off the bag, or the catch isn't made, or any number of things, the "we need a cap now" talk is far more muted. This is our first repeat in quite some time, baseball does offer lots of parity. Everyone is sick of the Dodgers being there, yes. I just don't quite feel that it's hopeless for MKE, though.

Bunting really needs to go the way of the punt from your opponent's 43 yard line. They would make sense if you got 5 outs. You just don't get enough opportunities to give one away in my opinion. In the world series with capable hitters at the plate no less. Think Barger was intentionally walked because of it. Set up the DP with Kirk running. Just saw that coming a mile away.

I watched an awful lot of bunts this October that seemed to kill rallies.

He was definitely out, as hard as the internet is trying to make that a controversy. Incredible catch there too.
