  1. One of two things is happening with Rodgers this year: His thumb is hurting more than we know and his accuracy comes and goes. He isn't trusting his players to make plays downfield and his longer throws are to ensure no INT. Rodgers isn't the worst problem we have this year (maybe his cap hit it though), but he has his issues and certainly isn't helping as much as in years past. Maybe time to draft another QB in the 1st round to light another fire under him.
  2. Amari Rodgers muffs another punt... Not sure why he is our punt returner. He showed in the preseason that he couldn't reliably catch a punt. Not really electric as a returner anyway. OL actually held up pretty well; granted they did a lot of short passes, but improved from last week. Rodgers was pretty erratic. Spot on one throw and shoe-lace high the next. Defense was actually decent, but frankly I think they wore down. Douglas was everywhere. Stokes is struggling in his second year. Amos had a nice game. Finally using Alexander the right way, but he didn't have as good of a game this week. Enagbare had a nice game again. Total effort sack but continues to get pressure. Hamilton didn't really add anything. If we didn't have Jones, I'm not sure what I'd do on offense. Why did we barely use him last week again? Our second half adjustments (i.e. the lack of any) once again showed up. I'm just not getting our offense anymore.
  3. I think I made the comment in preseason that these two were really only the equivalent to one WR this year. Cobkins? Watobb?
  4. No, he isn't ready. Guy needs major work offensively. Maybe he can play some role minutes to shut down a wing given our injuries, but he isn't ready to breack the main rotation. I'd be a little more hopeful on that next year.
  5. I don't know about Hader. I think he makes a middling starter at best. Being able to limit his pitches per game allowed him to amp up the velocity and made him elite. We've seen when he is tired and slows down a bit, he is very hittable.
  6. It is unfortunate that their timing wasn't a bit better. Imagine if that trio's 2021 season had occurred in 2018 or 2019...
  7. You also qualified it to a very small subset of people: Quick question for all those who continuously support and back every move the Brewers make: Since there aren't many people that qualify, you shouldn't expect many responses. But of course if they always support and back every move.. the answer to your question is also obvious: Of course they support it. For the rest of us... I think they could've done better by waiting for the offseason. But with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I'd also do my deck a different way, gotten a different degree in college, and not eaten that burrito for lunch... Sometimes it isn't worth dwelling on the past.
  8. Well, its all fixed now. The Brewers just signed a Hader clone. Lefty that throws in the mid to upper 90s, sweeping slider, and high spin rates. Except the long crazy hair is on his chin instead of on his head... ?
  9. I have to think they are approaching zero... Houser is a legit starting MLB pitcher. Even a #5 pitcher at $3.6M isn't at all expensive. At a minimum, you just trade him to get some value back. Just bad roster moves giving away talent by non-tendering him.... not that we haven't done similarly bad moves this past year...
  10. The grass is rarely greener unless you become a big fish in a small pond and even then individual returns may vary. That is all the adages I could fit into one sentance.
  11. Big No on Sean Payton. If MLF continues to fail to make adjustments and improvements, we can find a good coach without selling our souls.
  12. Or maybe see if Ryan Braun is ready for an encore tour?
  13. Another positive observation from Sunday was Engebare's contribution. He wasn't out there much but he had impact when he was. Not only the sack, but looks like decent run support too. Or at least relatively to everyone else.... ?
  14. I'm with you here... I was upset to not see bat (1B or 3B) come back at the deadline. But it also seems to be there far fewer legit 3B/1B than there used to be; 1B especially. And 3B always has been short on decent, consistent players at the plate.
  15. Well in the 70s for me it was sandboxes, climbing trees, and riding bikes, too. I was the class of '92.
  16. Yes, much was made of Hader being the wave that sunk the ship...but we were taking on water far before then. Yes, in first place, but not playing like a WS caliber team. If you are in the MLB, trades happen. You have to be a bit more resilient to trades than that... it always sounded like a convenient excuse to me
  17. Late 70s... well, I was thinking then... just not thinking of football. ?
  18. I'm not sure what Ruiz will turn out to be, but I know it is a fool's folly to not bring in talent because we already have talent there. We don't know which of our OF prospects will boom and which will bust... but quite often one or more will bust - just the law of averages. Not to mention that you need talent to trade for talent. DS took a chance on a mid-season trade and I think by all accounts lost (compared to trading him in the offseason). But of course, hindsight is 20/20.... Hader recovered and looks good. Would he have done that with the Brewers? Maybe. Maybe not. They didn't get a horrible return for Hader and I don't believe Hader brings back a "generational talent" type player. Sometimes you gamble and get burned.
  19. It wasn't their lateral movement because quite often...they weren't even looking. Newman is obviously the worst at this. He was horrible last year and I hoped a year of development would help... no. But it was so easy to run the same stun over and over again... I saw every single one of our OL miss it at some point. I think one or two times, someone (Myers at least once) looked like they were passing off the rusher to another OL, but no one was there... I think that might scare me more... they obviously aren't communicating and/or helping each other. That may have been the most brutal game I've seen from a GB OL as a whole. Normally, it is one or two people getting whooped. No one was prepared for that game. Maybe we should've had a bye week after London.
  20. I was thinking the same thing, but it seems like the first half of the NBA season is a snoozefest now that we are annual locks for the playoffs. I started liking NBA basketball again after they changed the defense to allow more zone (and avoid the offense of 4 people on one side of the court with a superstar playing 1on1 on the other side...aka JordanBall). But then we suddenly turned it into the "just don't get hurt" season.
  21. @Brewcrew82 How do you define arm talent? Stave could throw the ball as hard/far as any Badger QB I can think of. He was far more raw coming into the game also. Mertz supposedly came in being able to "make all the throws" but that seems to be not exactly the truth. I'm not trying to turn this into the Stave love-fest show. I think Mertz is better overall (and would've fared better if they had traded spots). Just that it felt like both had more physical talent that they couldn't utilize on the field due to lack of development - both were exciting when they were young but never developed into their potential.
  22. I remember a couple Stave throws that I thought were rather Favre-esque the way he zipped them in. Mertz probably has a better touch than Stave as he was pretty much all gun all the time, but neither was great at it.
  23. To be honest, Mertz was striking me as a very similar player to Stave. Nice arm, clearly athletic, very inconsistent, poor on touch passes, thought he was going to be better than he turned out.
  24. Yeah, I'm hoping Jones is ok. He didn't quite look right out there...
  25. I think we can simply be sure we will be going into Buffalo and leave it at that. What in blazes happend to the OL? Is Newman infectious because no one could pickup a stunt today. Every single one of them played horribly. Silver linings: (Squint hard): Looks like Big Bob is getting in shape Alexander was playing man-to-man on their best WR...quite often! The D looked good...initially. Overall they weren't bad, but they keepd giving up big runs. Gary looked good - even set an edge in the run game. That.. is about it. Offense is really hard to watch. Really curious why Jones was barely part of the game today - even passing or screens.
