  1. [sarcasm]Too bad intermittent fasting has worked for you... [/sarcasm]
  2. I will say that Love's play, the ball his throws, the way he moves, etc.. reminds me of Dante Culpepper. His height and the way he stands in the pocket are physical similarities, but also his ease in throwing the long ball. He is athletic and can move, but not isn't his main game. Love's arm strength worried me in the first game, but he looked much better in the last game. A couple throws looked like he was hardly putting effort into it at all, yet he throws an easy 30-40 yard pass. As for the rookie QB question, I'll give the short answer: - CheezWizHed: No - Peavy: Yes The long answer can found beat to death back on our post history.
  3. Actually, I've been pretty impressed with Love so far. Yes, he has made some horrible throws that were or should've been picked off. But he has made some very nice throws and a lot of good decisions. But all that comes with caveats: - It is preseason and offenses running against vanilla defenses - He is going to have to learn how to his limitations, especially when pressured. This is probably the biggest hurdle a college QB has to overcome, so that isn't insignificant. - He has been running with mostly a #2 or #3 offensive talent against the opposing team's #1 or #2 defense the whole time (a positive caveat in Love's favor), but still moved the ball. I remember Rodger's first preseason was "this guys is terrible, why did we draft him". Second preseason was "ok, there are some signs of life". Third was "Looks like he could be a legit starter". Love's second preseason (even without any games last year) aligns with Rodgers in that way - he has some skills, but needs development yet. Which is pretty much what we expected in drafting him - talent in need of refinement.
  4. Hanson isn't competing with Newman (C vs G/T). Perhaps you mean Runyan, who has been playing C? But it doesn't look good for Hanson's future. Van Lanen looked better in the first couple of games but was brutal yesterday. I have a feeling he will be on the PS this year and I don't think it is a bad thing. Taylor looks like he solidified his spot. Funchess looked good, but can't seem to stay healthy. I'm thinking the team just decided to move on from him for health reasons. I'm wondering how many CBs they keep this year... There are 5 safeties that will probably be on the team. (Black, Scott and Uphoff as backups). At ILB, if they keep 4, I hope they keep Duffie over Summers. I know Summers is big on ST, but brings nothing to the D. I had to listen to the Buffalo commentators during the game (NFL app) and there was a lot of talk about the depth of their DL. We have a couple interesting UDFA DL, but I still hope we reach out and grab someone that is a higher upside guy.
  5. I don't live near a Little Caesars now, but when frozen pizzas are in the $5-6 range, picking up a $5 hot-n-ready was common for our family as an alternative. I wouldn't compare it to an eat-in pizza place, but compared to frozen it was good.
  6. As BJ mentioned above...let's get back to the 2021 team. I think we beat the Sitton situation to death.
  7. I think he was pretty close to not making the roster anyway. Scott and Black look at least as strong as Redmond, but younger, cheaper and more upside. Gaines is also an interesting player that might squeeze his way in depending on how the last roster spots fall.
  8. He proved he could adjust in the playoffs. But this is a good thing. He isn't a HOF coach, but a very good one. Maybe after a Giannis led string of championships he will be.
  9. There was a glimmer of hope for Shaw the way he started the year, but the shine quickly wore off. Best of luck Shaw! I hope you do well with the Sox, but a team with WS aspirations can't wait for you to find it again.
  10. I don't buy that a meniscus tear (very minor as knee injuries go) had any lasting impact. He looked plenty fast during the regular season (clearly faster than Barnes). In fact, if you could merge Martin's athleticism with Barnes' brain and instincts, you'd have a pro bowl MLB. The Hollman trade was pretty shrewd (as was the Jackson trade). Reminds me of some of the moves Wolf would make. 95% of the time it probably won't have an impact, but if you have determined that someone isn't going to help your team, but still has NFL talent and you can get something for it. Why not? Things TT nor Sherman every did (much of).
  11. Agreed. Martin and Burks are very similar players (i.e. athletic, but not assignment-sure) and Burks has had years of development, trials at OLB, etc... It was a red flag seeing Campbell rumored as the starter and more so to see Martin at OLB... but to be simply cut at the start of his second year (and taking a cap hit to boot)... wow. something blew up.
  12. Wowsers! Going from our biggest upside MLB prospect and thinking we had our MLB nailed down for a few years (Martin + Barnes) to cut after two preseason games... Just wow. I figured something was up since he was working at OLB, but that was some fall... Almost like someone swapped Martin and Burks this year.
  13. Sorry, I misread your previous post. It did sound like you wanted more data in order to continue second guessing the hire decision. Glad to hear I was wrong about that.
  14. Yeah. We have to see what happens. I just didn't care for the Barry hire at all and was hoping to be second guessing that already. [sarcasm]Well, seems like your hopes have come true...[/sarcasm]
  15. Call me weird, but I still like watching pre-season FB. Not for the football or quality of the game... I just enjoy seeing those end of the roster guys fight and see who might actually make the team. I guess between the draft, UDFA, and preseason, I like playing the arm-chair GM... Pretty sure we keep 3 QBs on the roster again this year. Dillon looked great out there - both running and recieving. The 3 third-string candidates all played well, but Hill still looks like a step above the rest. No ESB was a bit disappointing, but Malik Taylor looked good. Heflin and Slaton both continue to play well. 3rd and 4th safety will be an interesting battle Quiet night for Nijman, which is a good thing for a OL
  16. I get that Bickford was a bit of a fan favorite, but he is far from what he was when we originally got him. From a high 90s FB starter to a low 90s reliever. I'm happy for him that he is succeeding, but I don't see him as even a high leverage reliever going forward. We have found 10 similar (or better) pitchers for every Bickford we have lost. Every team loses players like Bickford; not nearly as many have had success in finding them as the Brewers.
  17. Enough is enough guys. Be glad Garcia is playing better. Stop the one-upmanship and mocking. *posts deleted*
  18. milb.com's headline article today: https://www.milb.com/news/milwaukee-brewers-joey-wiemer-taps-into-power-potential Nice swing adjustment as suggested by teammate Zavier Warren triggered Wiemer's hot HR streak.
  19. True[sarcasm]...but that also brought into question their fumbling problems.[/sarcasm]
  20. Agreed...x2. No way to say what is "best" as "best" is subjective. We are all happy they won.
  21. I should've put it in blue... I knew he wasn't with the team, but made his "return" in the Magic Number thread...
  22. Yeah, I liked your idea of honoring the Bucks...just objected to the use of purple...
  23. Game 7 Nets was an edge of the seat roller coaster ride. Two team duking it out and giving it everything they had. Pretty classic game and pivotal for who wins the championship (if the Nets pull it out, I don't see how they would lose to anyone else). The type of game where you are exhausted mentally/emotionally at the end and just glad your team won it. Game 6 Suns wasn't nearly so nerve wracking, but very satisfying in that you could enjoy the game for the last 5 min or so with a "I think we have it - please don't blow it" mentality. I was almost giddy at the end because we were in control for so long. Game 7 was the more epic game, but Game 6 was easier emotionally and finally gave the sense of completion. I guess it depends on what you like.
  24. My first thought on the colors was NDSU http://huskerfootballzone.com/NDSU-uniforms.jpg
  25. No, no, no, no, no. For one, the Buck's haven't had purple in their jerseys for a while. Two, when your biggest rival is purple... some lines are just not crossed. But I like where you were going.. a Green and Cream jersey to honor the Buck's championship would've been a nice tip of the cap. But I'm guessing the NFL has guidelines on these secondary jersey colors what wouldn't allow it...
