  1. I can understand why you aren't getting great pass rushers in the 3rd-5th rounds... but why in the world can't these guys stop the run? The OL has two 2nd rounders, but we make hay in the 4th round for OL.
  2. Zimmer was toast last season. No idea how he came back this year, but I predicted they will implode this year. I see very little team unity and it starts with him. I wonder when they will try to steal the kicker off our PS?
  3. Kyler Murray still doesn't impress me. They guy put up 400 yards and 3TDs, but it just seems like empty numbers to me. I've not seen him play often - small sample warning of course - but he just never seems impressive to me. Certainly couldn't do anything clutch with the game on his shoulders yesterday. Kind of backed into a win.
  4. I agree that you don't watch a game for the person calling the game...but there are a select few that elevate the game and dozens that drag the game into misery. Anytime the Brewers had the youtube/FB group over the past few years, it was excruciating. Wisconsin fans are spoiled when it comes to TV and radio announcers. It would be nice if you qualified why you felt this way... otherwise a one liner like this sounds a lot like trolling.
  5. I think Deguara is out with a concussion and ESB's brother is on the Lions. It could be just be for the gesture of suiting up for a nice moment + possibly contributing on ST. That’s neat if they’re doing him a solid so the family can watch both of them play. I think EQ is still worthy of a roster spot, when healthy. ESB suits up for week 2, so he goes on the IR for week 3 then? /half blue - mostly
  6. After redoing PSmith's contract, his cap number is close to $20M next year. All but ensures he is cut... They could extend him to lower the cap number, but then why not just keep ZSmith then?
  7. Growing up in Douglas County, no one ever spoke about this. It is only an argument for the Milwaukee and Madison crowds. Attending MSOE, someone told me that they lived up north and when I asked "where", they said Tomah. I laughed and laughed... HWY 8/10/29... all about the same. If you stay north of HWY 29, you'll find one city over 20k population and most of them are a few thousand tops.
  8. Oh, I didn't see that. I thought it was a typo.
  9. MLF isn't without his gaffs here too. Biggest one I remember was NO had it 4th and goal with 1:55 left in the first half. He chose not to use his last timeout and they burnt over 30 seconds off the clock. That 30s would've been nice when we were driving and had to settle for the FG...
  10. I think we have a ton of talent in some locations, but also some big holes. DL remains very weak around Clark. MLB remain so-so with no chance of upside, impact players. I thought bringing back King would keep our floor at a certain level, but I wasn't expecting it to be his play in the NFC championship game... oof. Not surprisingly, we get exposed on the run game and receptions to TEs and RBs (yeah, I know - Kamara, but still). And King gets burnt or plays soft on WRs.
  11. Enough to win the game? Maybe, maybe not. I'd be happy with having it look like the team has actually played together before, is more assignment sure, and quicker to the ball. And yes, I expect getting a few drives in preseason will help do that.
  12. Must have been executed or something. [sarcasm]Without a trial? [/sarcasm]
  13. Packers went 3-0 to start 2019 & 4-0 to start 2020. MLF didn't follow in MM's footsteps his first two seasons. They were able to win, but still looked out of sync. This year, only a couple of starters touched the field this preseason and then only a few younger placers for a series or two. And the obviously look out of sync. That was about as rusty as I've seen Rodgers ever look.
  14. Rodgers doesn’t like playing the in the preseason. Rodgers got what he wanted, good and hard. Ding ding. Lack of preseason reps wasn't an issue the last two seasons when the Packers went 13-3 & made the NFC Championship Game both years. What was different this offseason? [sarcasm]Well, neither season won us a super bowl, so we try something different...[/sarcasm]
  15. Now watch Love drive down for a TD.
  16. I never understood under MM they hardly played any preseason and it takes them 3-4 games to start looking like they are on the same page. MLF following in his footsteps. Would be nice if they figured it out in preseason. *sigh*
  17. You should be building around Woodruff, Burnes, and Peralta, not trading them away. Remember all the years trying to get TOR starters? Why are we trying to get rid of them to keep Houser and Lauer? When Houser starts getting expensive (and hopefully he does because it means he is pitching well), you trade him and keep backfilling with Ashby, Small, etc... Spend the $$ on the top tier players, fill around them for the rest.
  18. FIP takes into account HR, Ks, and BBs. Do any advanced metrics take into account balls hit off the bat and the likely outcome? With all the numbers we have available, seems like exit velocity and angle (in addition to the other three numbers) to create a bit more accuracy in the number. Certainly the pitcher's stuff does control (to an extent) whether they typically get soft or hard contact and groundball/flyball ratios.
  19. With great reluctance we tolerate your choice in football teams.... Well, I try to be tolerant of the football team choice(s) here, too. Well, you'll always have '85 and a SNL skit. Good times.
  20. I think Lauer, given his younger age and the fact he's a lefty, actually has a higher upside than Houser. Houser might have slightly better raw stuff, but it's pretty close I'd say. I wouldn't argue with that. I was looking more at where they are now and their performance to date as justification of being regular SPs in the league. Forward looking, Houser is pretty much peaked, while Lauer still is improving.
  21. Lauer's improvement from last year is impressive. I did not see his game last night, but clearly he was efficient in reaching 7 innings in 87 pitches. And against a good BB team, not the AAA Cubs. His K/9 and BB/9 this year are far more inline with his years in SD, but his H/9 is quite a bit lower this year - pushing his WHIP down. Given he moved from SD to Milwaukee, one would think the park factors wouldn't be in his favor. But even if his ERA regresses toward his FIP, he shows that he is a strong SP candidate. I also find it hard to believe the some people still say Houser should be in the BP. Neither of these guys are TOR starters but they have shown enough to be considered strong #3 or #4 level SPs (maybe #4/#5 for Lauer).
  22. With great reluctance we tolerate your choice in football teams....
  23. They went 3-1, but I doubt they go 12-4 last year if it was the same all season. Maybe they can fix Jameis Winston from his INT history. Or maybe he remains the same. With all the QBs moving around this year, it would seem a better chance to get someone with a better history. New Orleans has a lot of talent on the team. They won't be bottom feeders, but I can't see them as anything more than WC contenders. But my OP was more about the "doom & gloom" or "everything is rosy" responses to Rodgers leaving this past offseason. We will actually get to see what happens...I wasn't trying to predict the outcome. Ironically, Drew Brees goes into the HOF with one SB win under his belt and that probably only occurs due to bountygate (or at least marred by bountygate).
  24. Given that our strength is run support (or just our front 7 in general), it is probably the worst thing a safety could do is to bite hard on a run fake.
