  1. I'm curious if anyone has seen cholesterol reductions (HDL specifically) due to IF? I was doing some reading and there seem to be some correlation between the two. Seems logical that if your body switches from carbs to burning fat that reduction in cholesterol would be a potential byproduct. Obviously, general weight loss will do it also, but I'm curious about the impacts of the IF autophagy and ketosis states also. My cholesterol is normally in the "ok" range, but I wouldn't mind improving it also (especially HDL reduction). For my weight loss, I dropped a few pounds quickly, then slowly dragged to about 8-9 lbs loss (over the winter, I didn't have much of an outlet for exercise). Now that it has warmed up, I spend more time outside and I'm seeing the slow progress continue (progress being the goal, speed isn't). My annual checkup is coming fairly soon, so I'll see what happens to cholesterol also.
  2. I think it would be foolish to intentionally lose this first game. You really want to set yourself up for a one-and-done? Doesn't matter who you are playing, it just takes one game... 1980s karma coming back to bite them?
  3. Yes, I've done it several times and am by no means a plumber. Getting under the sink to actually reach it is the hardest part. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With the economy opening up, I've had 3 (of 20) people resign for other jobs and I was short to begin with. I hate hiring...
  4. Has anyone seen any information about the length of the effectivity yet? Since we are about 6 months in, I was curious if any initial numbers are being estimated yet.
  5. I'm quite sure you just insulted all of them. Yes, red and blue make purple, but nothing is purple in Green and Gold country.
  6. That would seem to be the worst of all options. Rodgers confirms he is a tool at that point.
  7. Hmmm... make more money or balance the schedule? I think it is obvious which the league will select and it doesn't take a metric to figure that out. But it seems that "net rest advantage" sounds like a new metric, so it souldn't surprise me if it wasn't very accepted quite yet. Is there any correlation between the advantage and wins?
  8. Two homers and no love for Hauser?
  9. Yup, I have several masks like that. Even those are not perfect. They'll work for a while and then things shift and fog begins again. I WILL agree with the whole "keeping the face warm" thing, as well as wearing them in future winters to try to combat the runny noses and other cold symptoms a bit. I've worn contacts since 7th grade (glasses since 5th grade). Sadly... this year started the time when I needed reading glasses. So when I was in the office (mostly working from home), wearing my reading glasses or safety glasses was a pain. I learned to tuck the mask up under the nose bridge. Still a pain though.
  10. I think early in the season (or whenever the improvement was evident), he mentioned that his footwork had changed over the years, so he focused on his leg and core conditioning to improve that footwork again. And obviously, he was having accuracy issues the last couple years. Beyond the change to his deep ball, he had some VERY odd throws in the 10-15yd range where he was throwing the ball 5 ft over Lazard's head (at least one throw I remember, but he had others that were similar); Just very un-Rodger's like. For me, I'd guess that his accuracy changes were a red flag that he might be "falling off the cliff". Maybe he was performing as a lesser QB's best season, but there were some stark changes from Rodger's norm also. Maybe if he had fixed it earlier, Love might never have been drafted...
  11. Did Braun ever actually say he was retired? I'm guessing one of two things will happen: 1) He is going to wait to join the Brewers in the second half of the season to limit wear and tear on his body and help push for another playoff run. 2) Wait until the fans are back fully (or close) and make one last appearance to do a proper last AB and goodbye. And play 3B for an inning just for Clancy...
  12. You have to take into account the Coors effect. Is Arenado still worth about $20m+ a season when you take him out of Coors? I am not sure I would want Arenado at that much and taking him out of Coors. Yelich and his recent injuries is a concern but I am going to take Yelich as his offense is more of a known than Arenado's outside of Coors and playing in a more pitchers friendly ballpark in St. Louis. So what is Yellich worth in Colorado? Why should a player make more in CO? Don't all players benefit from playing there? Don't the Rockies play half of their games outside of CO?
  13. For better or for worse, we seem to have a consistent approach to drafting tackles and that generally means mid-to-later round draft picks; being over 10 years since we had any success drafting a Tackle in the top 3 rounds (granted...there haven't been many attempts either). The positives going into this year is that we have many options to be playing tackle this year: Bakhtiari, Nijman, Turner, Jenkins, Runyan, Newman, VanLanen, Cronk, Dieter. The negative is that, we really only have one known entity to start the year: Turner - Bakhtiari's injury and recovery puts him as questionable to start the season. - Jenkins held up for a short period at Tackle, but not sure about his longer term prospects. Plus, as a ProBowl G, does it make sense to move him to T if that makes him less effective? Obviously, if healthy, our starting tackles are Bakh and Turner and the question comes to our backup options. If Bakh can't go to start the season, things are a bit more serious. Here is what I see as our options in order of probability: Jenkins: I still think Jenkins' priority will be in the interior, but as of today, I'd assume Jenkins would be the most likely backup starter. With TC starting, I think the rest of this group will get the chance to be the main backup (or possibly short term starter?). If they fail to take the job, I think we will default to Jenkins and use someone else at G. Thus, I'll list him here, but keep him as the fallback plan and not our long term Tackle options. Nijman: Tantalizing size, speed, talent... Looks the part of a dominant player, but hasn't gotten to show it yet. Hopefully, this is his break-out year. Best case scenario is Nijman dominates during training camp and pre-season and takes the backup tackle role so Jenkins can just focus inside. 80% chance to be our main backup tackle; 10% chance of starting this year (Moving Turner inside if Bakh is healthy). Newman: The latest in a long line of 4th round drafted college tackles that come with the should he be a guard or tackle in the NFL? Seems like he need some strength development, but probably could be a capable replacement for a game or two - especially where the team has more speed and less bull rush. 10% chance of being the main backup T. Cronk: Covid will make this draft pretty interesting with people slipping through the cracks with the limits on testing and evaluations. Cronk furthered that with injuries in 2019 that derailed 2020 also. But a very interesting UDFA prospect that could surprise people. Good size and arm length with good film back in Indiana (less so in IA on a not fully rehabbed ankle). I'd guess if circumstances were different for his injury, he'd be a similar 4th round T like Newman. 4% chance Runyan: While it certainly looks like Runyan is a G long term (and perhaps starting RG this year), I still think he has the possibility of swinging outside. After a year on the team, I'd guess he might get more of a chance out there unless he is locked into the starting RG battle. 4% chance. VanLanen: Never say never, but he strikes me more as a development G level player that will be fighting more for a roster spot than a critical position on the line. Experience and size for RT, but athletically behind. Mark Tauschers do happen, so I'll put it at 2% chance. Dieter: A lot of uphill battles at this point for Dieter including a "meh" college career and injuries. He is there, but a lot of people to leapfrog for the position. 0% chance So when you can't get known quality, get quantity and hope to find quality, right? Our backup T position has been worse in the past. At least we do have several candidates with good potential to be NFL RTs on the roster; now to sift through the mountain of dirt to find the diamond in the rough. If all else fails, we can look to Wagner or other aging T as a backup. We've seem to have found them when needed in the past.
  14. Yes, that is the one! Nothing fancy about it, but had nice rolling hills, a few water hazards, tree-lined fairways, low cost, variety of courses. Just a nice course that was rarely busy. Most of my family is still up there, but as an engineer there was nothing up there for me (heading back this weekend for my dad's birthday). Most of my HS class went to UW-S, but I "escaped" to MSOE.
  15. Boiling brats is terrible. Got to grill them! But does soaking in beer (or anything) really help? How permeable are the skins to take in the liquid? I could see if the brat maker put the beer inside...
  16. Odd how you can spend 18 years somewhere and still not seen some parts of it. Granted, as a kid, I probably wasn't paying attention half the time.
  17. Where is that? I graduated from Solon Springs and I don't recall one there (at least then).
  18. Northwoods by Nebagamon? That is where I learned to golf! Poplar is getting pretty close to the south shore of superior. Not much soil up there...
  19. Currywurst in Germany is awesome - my favorite go to food when I'm over there (two former jobs had me working in Germany at times fortunately - unfortunately, my current one does not). I had two co-workers from the states once and we stopped at a stand. They ordered brats (which are very different than US brats, but still very good) and I ordered currywurst. After the brats, they each had a currywurst and they were hooked. Now my mouth is watering...
  20. I've not golfed in years, but when I did, I loved the public course down near Bong Recreational area. Two 18 hole and one 9 hole courses. Cost a buck a hole back in the day. All or most of holes 1 and 10 started at the club house, so if you only wanted to do 9 holes, you could have your pick of starting spots. Reduced the waiting greatly that way, too. Nothing overly fancy, but not an easy course either (mostly tree lined fairways).
  21. Then every baserunner ends up on 3rd. A walk becomes a triple because base runners would simply start walking to the next base before the pitcher even starts his motion. The only thing it would do for baseball is ruin the game. Kind of reminds me of the time I was on 1st and the pitcher went out of the windup, instead of the stretch. I stole second so bad that I rounded the bag and looked in to see the ball hit the catcher's mitt (and I was NOT fast). It did make me wonder if the batter had hit a fly ball, would I have had to go back to 1st (being on second before the ball was hit)?
