  1. I hope the Brewers are looking for what's best for the team, not what's best for PR. If they think they will get the most long-term value out of Urias by sending him to AAA, then they should send him to AAA. I hope he earns a starting spot at the MLB level this year, but I really don't want to see him getting the small side of a platoon vs LHP. That to me seems like a waste of a year of his service time. If they decide to start Arcia at SS and Shaw at 3B, then I'd rather just see Urias go to AAA until the team feels that he is ready to be a full-time MLB player. Robertson should be a fine platoon partner if they decide to go with Shaw at 3B. Both Arcia and Urias are "former top prospects" who have yet to hit in the majors. Which former top prospect do you start, as neither of them really fit the bill as a MLB third baseman? Urias was labeled "top prospect" more recently than Arcia, and Arcia has had a lot more of a chance at the MLB level to try to prove himself, but Arcia also showed some life at the plate last year, while Urias hasn't done much of anything in his short stint in the majors. I don't think it would be the end of the world if Urias starts the year at AAA and Arcia is given a shot to see if his 2020 season was the beginning of a "breakout." As to Shaw, his numbers in the majors in 2019 were terrible, but he didn't forget how to hit. When given everyday playing time, he destroyed AAA after being sent down. I went to a game in San Antonio and he hit probably the longest home run I've ever seen. I think/hope the Shaw of 2017-2018 is still in there. The question will be how much "rope" the Brewers give him. I didn't go into the offseason thinking "boy, I hope we sign Travis Shaw to be our everyday third baseman," but if Stearns & Co think he can rebound, then I'm definitely rooting for him. He's played well in a Brewers uniform in the not-too-distant past. I tend to agree with what you are saying - past decisions are sunk costs. Don't make future decisions based on what it cost you in the past. But I have to imagine the headlines if Urias goes to AAA so Shaw makes the team. Another prospect sent to the minors for Shaw to hit (or worse...to not hit). I'd imagine that they'd cut/trade Arcia before sending Urias down, however.
  2. Jake's best play might be to wait until mid-spring training to sign. See who gets injures and drives up his demand.
  3. But are they lefties? Future LOGGY's? How about catcher? Well, my oldest daughter is a lefty, but even a pair of Wild-thing glasses couldn't help her see the plate (she is "low vision"). My oldest son did make a few nice plays in softball last year at catcher....
  4. I had no idea Jabari Parker was still in the league...
  5. Kirksey was as much of a lock as there possibly could be. Not shocked on Wagner, but did think there was a chance they'd keep him due to Bakh's injury. Yep, the question now is who is going to be the other starting tackle? Something tells me it's more likely that they are targeting several OTs with their 1st round pick (Leatherwood, Eichenberg, Mayfield, Radunz, Slater. Cosmi) than think that Nijman is ready to start. I wonder if Wagner will pull a Lane Taylor and there is an agreement to come back at a lower salary. I'm thinking a lot of mid-level vets are going to be cut this year and resign for lower deals. With the consistent tighter caps around the league, if you aren't one of the key players, this will happen often. Given Wagner's ties to WI, I'd think he'd be interested in returning.
  6. Many homes that aren't dumps in that $300-500K price range are often sold or have offers/inquiries before they every actually hit the market around here - even during dead of winter. I should've clarified where I live too... I'm about 25 miles south of the metro (Lakeville/Prior Lake). Probably in the last "suburb" heading south of the cities. When I moved in, my neighbor had goats. So the price range I mentioned was for here and south of here - which becomes farm land. I wouldn't touch anything close to downtown or the nicer suburbs (Minnetonka, Eden Prairie, etc...) for the prices I mentioned. For reference, brand new cookie-cutter 3-4 bed room houses on a 1/4 acre lot run $400-500k in Lakeville, which is why the cap on used is around $350k.
  7. In this post you talk about two of your sons. That means you have more than two. In an earlier post you mentioned you have three daughters. Guess that puts you in contention for best farm system on BF.net. Keeping tabs on me? I have 3 daughters and 3 sons. Zero hopes of putting any of them in the majors though. They inherited my coordination.
  8. I agree. His lefty bat is intriguing at home. Even with Shaw on the team, there's still a big need for bench power. I hope that Robertson, Arcia and Shaw are bringing their OF gloves to camp then, because I think the only way the numbers work is if they keep only 4 true OFers. Doesn't seem like we've had a 5th OFer in our typical 25/26 man rosters though...Seems like we normally (2017-2019 range) had Gamel as the 4th and bring up Taylor/Ray/Broxton in case of an injury. [sarcasm]Maybe we just have Vogelbach cover LF for emergencies...[/sarcasm]

  10. I'm not sure how much jersey sales would compare to his salary, though... Certainly our D would benefit from a legit DE (3-4 DE, not a Reggie White DE - sorry couldn't resist...) next to Clark. Both pass rush and run D. But I get the feeling that his role as a leader could equally benefit the team. Charles Woodson, Reggie White, Brett Favre, Leroy Butler... they were all leaders that held people accountable. I'm not sure we have anyone on this team that does that. For all of Rodger's positives, he has admitted to being more introverted when it comes to leadership.
  11. I like this move. Side note: On a desktop or laptop computer, you don't need to be a Twitter member for the link to work. Should also work in the web browser on your phone or tablet. While true, it is nice to put context to the link so people don't have to follow it. Sometimes work filters block links to various sources (often Twitter).
  12. The Twin Cities is nuts. I moved here 4 years ago and houses were being sold the day they were put on the market. I was able to extend up into the $400k range so there was less competition, but the $200-$350k range was fierce. Anything less than $200k and you are buying garbage. And that hasn't changed in 4 years. A friend of mine just sold their place (to move somewhere warmer like Texas...). They had their house on the market for 2 days - they had 22 showings and 6 offers.
  13. I recently brought two of my sons (aged 15 & 16) in for a strep test this weekend. Multiple things are bugging me... - They required a COVID test at the same time. They don't call if the test is negative...but if schools/doctors/other activities find out they had a COVID test (even me going into work), they required positive confirmation of a negative test. - I have to sign off for them to treat my kids; I have to pay for the treatment; But because they are over 12, I can't call in find out the results of their tests. Except if it was positive, they would've called my cell phone. - My daughter goes to a different school as those two sons. This morning I get a phone call from the school nurse inquiring about my sons' health and COVID situation (evidently they ask about the family's health as she comes into school?). Of course, if they have a pending COVID test, my daughter wasn't allowed to be in school (which obviously, we closed out the confirmation before sending everyone back in). She wants to dig into the health situation of my others sons to verify my daughter should be in school. I answered her questions, but was massively annoyed at her sticking her nose where it didn't need to be.
  14. Means he's going to the Jets? Bean town?
  15. Agreed. You lost me at ESPN...
  16. Wow, even Shazam and Aquaman made the list....
  17. Agree. Wish they would have cut out one. I didn't really like the series at all until towards the end of the third episode. I would have been ok if they had made that the first. I actually liked the first three episodes. Very campy -yes, but an interesting tip of the hat to other old TV shows (i.e. Dick Van Dyke - separate beds, Bewitched, Brady Bunch, etc..). My family was amused by them while waiting for the plot to develop. I've only finished episode 4 or 5, so its interesting tying certain events back into the newer episodes.
  18. Yeah um, I'm going to have to ask you guys to not watch any more games. Thaaaanks.(read in the voice of the boss from office space) You need to throw me in that mix too. Not only have I only seen losses, they seem to completely flop when I turn it on. I started watching today with ~13min left in the second half and they were up 5.
  19. Yeah, I'm struggling with the revisionist history approach of saying what Reggie would be today. We honestly don't know what he would be. And why are we arguing about this again???
  20. And of course.. I miss the first half and get to watch the second half when we barely can hit anything...
  21. Sure, normally guys his size - even then - played DT (or 3-4 DE). But he had such power and speed, he was devastating on the outside. By playing against the OT in space, he just rag-dolled people around with the club move. He was such a physical freak, he created a huge mismatch at his position. Not sure why we would pigeon-hole him now... he broke the rule then too.
  22. Well, certainly he isn't a 250-280lb edge rusher that gets the EDGE title today. But he was a 4-3 DE and threw RTs around like rag dolls for a living. I don't recall him rushing inside (over G or C) very often at all. Seems odd to relabel him a DT when he didn't play there. Donaldson isn't a bad comparison for talent but their games and styles were very different.
  23. Sorry to hear that hawing.
  24. You always have a chance. But that Giants team had a front 7 much like Tampa's that was much better suited to put pressure on Brady (which they did) than the Packers were. That Giants team was actually really good, they had just a season marred by injuries and a suspension, both years they won, really. They got everyone back toward the end and it showed. Yes, as I was reminiscing about that year, I was noting how similar NYG was then and TB was this year; didn't play well early, got hot at the end, strong D, underdog in NFC/SB, but won SB anyway.
  25. Which NYG did of course. You never win the games you don't play. I'm not an Eli Manning fan either and he gained so many accolades (SB MVP) for playing "ok".
