  1. Yeah, this is a good point also that I've been concerned about. If our taxes look more like Germany (45% on a friend of mine that works a similar job I do), my 401k (non Roth) will be worth much less obviously. That point and because I'm actually doing pretty well, has me considering that a Roth will make more sense for me. A couple years ago, my company started offering a Roth 401k option, so I've been converting my contributions over to that bit by bit and have considered converting the whole thing over... but that is a big tax hit to take suddenly.
  2. It was less to do with the weather - actually nothing to do with the weather - and more to do with the fact that they looked like Llama/Camels and had fur. Nothing to do with the weather? Yeah, it looked like some sort of Ram (horns) crossed with a Llama with fur (which would also indicate internal heat generation). But it lived in a region far below zero degrees with no sun - thus cold blooded animals would have no source of heat. And when it froze to death, Luke cut him open and steam came out... obviously not cold blooded. [sarcasm]Did you forget 3rd grade too? [/sarcasm]
  3. Yeah, I'm here also. Thin crust is good when it is good, but it is also easy to be BAD (overcooked). I prefer hand-tossed or Chicago style pie. Also, the US really misses out on wood-fired stove pizza. In Europe it seems like every pizza place (or even regular restaurants that have pizza) have a wood fired stove. That also makes the plain crust taste great.
  4. Yes, you need a solid overall team - Rodgers can't win it all. But if you look at the Super Bowl champions, very rarely is the QB not central to the victory. Of the past 20 years, only a handful of teams had a QB that isn't a legit HOFer (Brady, Rodgers, Roth, Peyton, Mahomes (probably), Warner etc..) or at least was one of the top QBs for that season (Eli, Wilson, Wentz/Foles).
  5. I agree on the WR that can be a PR/KR, but don't think we need to specify the body type. Cordarrelle Patterson is one of the best KR/PRs in the league (though terrible WR) in a big body type. I get the feeling that the Packers tend to avoid the smaller WRs for run blocking reasons.
  6. I've only had the chance to watch 1 game this season... any observations on what has changed?
  7. I've only had the chance to watch 1 game this season... any observations on what has changed?
  8. Nothing against Love, but the chances of him (or any rookie QB) having a season like Rodgers had is very, very low. Hopefully, the Packers struck gold three times an a row... but I'd rather ride Rodgers until he shows he can't do it anymore. One two QBs had a season better than he just had (by QBR) and one of them was himself. Love is a sunk cost. Maybe he sits 3 years and becomes the next HOF QB, but there is a much higher chance he is a bust or just average than reaching HOF level. Can't make a bad decision (dumping Rodgers early) just because we spent a 1st round draft pick on a QB. Still need to make good decisions for the team now regardless of past decisions.
  9. If you go this way, look at Vanguard index funds. They have one to follow the S&P500 - extremely low fees and a simple online interface for managing it. I'll second what homer mentioned... if your company does a match of any sort, you are missing out on free money. That would trump ANY tax level decision. But secondly, you need to reconsider your future tax situation - and I'd recommend talking to a professional in this area. If you are in a higher tax bracket now than you will be in the future, you are better off letting it grow tax-free and pay lower taxes later (noting that the income you would pay in taxes NOW will be growing interest over the years). If your future income is low enough, you won't have ANY taxes to pay later... If you have a tax situation now where you are in a low tax bracket, but will jump later (i.e. high dependents now, none later, expect to have a huge nest egg that will outproduce your current income - putting you in a higher tax bracket), then you are better off in a Roth IRA (and pay taxes now). But the considerations are complicated - thus my recommendation to talk to a professional.
  10. I guess someone didn't remember 3rd grade when we learned what cold-blooded means?
  11. Whom can we steal from the Vikings? Zimmer always seems to have good defenses (except this year) and I'd love to weaken their coaching staff by snagging away a star pupil.
  12. #12 vs #4 is an interesting comparison of players. - Rodgers is the better overall QB. - Favre was the better overall leader - type of person you bust your butt for. - Rodgers plays 3D chess on the field and was better at dissecting the defense. - Favre is out there playing backyard football and was more likeable. That said, once Favre started playing games (I'm going to retire for real this time - TT drafts 2 QB for backups - Oops, I guess I'll play again), I was ready to move on. Both are HOF QBs but really hard to compare them as their styles were completely different. Ironically, I think both were best suited for the era they played in and wouldn't have been as good if they switched spots. But you do have to note that precious few teams have had HOF level QBs (or none?) for 29 consecutive years. Trust me... Viking fans would love to have our problems.
  13. You must know that this is a technicality, but brought this up multiple times. If Rodgers got hurt this year, Love was starting the next game, not Boyle. This is probably 90% true for 2021, but I'm not sure how you say it for 2020. If that was true, Boyle never would've been on the roster and active for every game this year. If we have a normal training camp in 2020, it wouldn't take too much for Love to build enough confidence to displace Boyle, but without it, he was still the safer option. If Rogers was out for the season and the team was out of the playoffs, then you probably give Love the shot. But for a couple game hold-over (a la Brees situation), Boyle was mostly the best option. As for Rodgers, I've states several times that restructuring his contract was the easiest way to free up cap space, so this really isn't all that big of a deal to me. Though, I'm a bit dubious (as others have said) that it came out so soon.
  14. What exactly are you trying to say here? That the Yelich trade and the Cain signing weren't quality moves? Because I would beg to differ. [sarcasm]Maybe he likes the sushi?[/sarcasm]
  15. [sarcasm]I don’t think you framed that question correctly. In addition to being consistently good, we also got a sledding hill.[/sarcasm] Consistently good, a sledding hill and multiple championships (13 to be exact). Even if you want to be more recent, we've won 2 SBs (appeared in 3) since everyone else in the NFL North had their last (and only) Super Bowl victory (or appearance).
  16. Differences between the top teams are pretty small, but we clearly choked in both games. Tampa beat us twice and seems to have our number. If they played 10 times, we'd have to win 8 straight to win 8 out of 10. I'm thinking a 50/50 split is more likely. But for now, there is no evidence to refute it... Tampa is the better team this year.
  17. Generally, I'd agree with this, but I think in the realm of "let them play", TB (i.e. the better defense) is going to gain an advantage. There were a lot of missed calls and a LOT of plays - both ways. I remember a couple plays where they are reviewing a potential (or actual) DPI and you can see hands to the face or a massive hold going on by the OL/DL. Just really ugly overall. The missed hold on Rodger's pick looms pretty large too (though I admit it was small). The fact that we couldn't take advantage of two backup safeties was pretty annoying.
  18. If they met the goal, going above it doesn't make a lot of sense unless there is a general need anyway. If you still want to give and they have younger kids, I'd contribute to their 529b college fund (or help them set one up if they don't). Otherwise you can always donate to a charity in the deceased's name.
  19. Well, that sucked. So when does spring training start?
  20. My only reason for schadenfreude is that I'm tired of hearing it in the media over and over and over and over... I have no ill will against the guy himself. I just want to see/hear about someone else. But getting clobbered by the Chiefs would've still be better than the kick-in-the-nuts feeling from the game last night.
  21. Vita hasn't played for a long time and is a big guy. If he is in there, go up-tempo and gas him.
  22. Too bad the Bucs won't give them the chance. :P
  23. Over the past week, we have gotten up over 1M vaccines being delivered per day. Seems odd that WI's is dropping when the overall delivery has been going up... Edit - I should say peaking over 1 million vaccinated daily... I'd assume the supply would be similar at that point, but that wasn't confirmed.
  24. Officiating hasn't been lopsided though. The Badgers are just playing poorly. Terrible 3pt shooting, terrible FT shooting, dumb turnovers....
