  1. Lets pretend that TT retires and MM and staff are fired at the end of the year. What direction do you go? GM: there are several of Wolf's like that I think would line up quickly to come back. Discuss options if you wish. Coaches: This is more my interest. Knowing that ARod comes back and is a main proponent of the offence, I think I'd like to see a defensive focused head coach hired with an younger, creative OC to work with ARod. I think generally the defensive HC has failed more times than it succeeds because its no longer true that defense wins championships (or its the exception instead of the rule at least). MN has a long line of failed defensive HCs. But having ARod mostly running the offense can really change the impact here. I wonder if Darrel Bevelle would be interested in OC/Asst HC position? Steal John Schneider from Seattle also. Or would you prefer to stick to the Holmgren/Sherman/MM style offense first HC?
  2. I hate to be a science nerd at a football party, but its actually F = M * A.
  3. I'll keep MM if he ditches Capers. If not, then I'm ready to be done with him also. I tend to think TT has done well personally. I think the defensive talent is pretty strong, actually. There were rumblings from players last year that DC wouldn't listen and they weren't following. Maybe Aranda should come back to Wisconsin...
  4. Yeah... wow. "The Packers are forcing me to play through and injury! I'm getting surgery! I'm cut... Oh, the Patriots want me to play? No problem" So much for TT signing another FA... ever.
  5. I was on that bandwagon last year. Kind of ironic that we just find a legit 3B at the MLB level at the same time we find one at the MiLB level after years of futility in that search.
  6. Hopefully Houser seeks out Nelson and asks him how he made his improvements. There are a lot of similarities in their strengths and struggles.
  7. I think Orf is going to be a good backup IF for the team. Versatile, smart player that gets on base. He may never be a starter, but he just seems like you can't keep him down.
  8. I've never been to the Mecca myself, but saw quite a few BB and hockey games at the BC. Yeah, it wasn't anything special. Probably the lack of ownership (multiple teams) was probably part of it. Otherwise, it was pretty functional, save for the lack of parking downtown. Living in MN now, I'm not sure if I will ever make it to the new BB stadium. Its hard to get over there in the winter. I also had a lot of memories of County Stadium (my first game, Yount's 2998th hit, freezing during April games, etc...), but I can't say that I'll miss the stadium. From the outside, it looked like someone slapped together a bunch of construction materials based on what they had on hand. It wasn't pretty by any sense of the word. Miller Park is a big step up in looks and appeal IMO.
  9. I'm really surprised because its like Horningbrook has regressed since last year. He had some yips, but was very good protecting the ball. Not so this year. I wonder if lack of competition has hurt him? The announcer for the Illinois game pointed out that Hbrook has been staring down WRs and he is absolutely correct. He did it all game. Great if WRs are running free, but it draws in the S all the time and makes it very hard against a good player.
  10. I think the coffin corner died when the rugby kick gained popularity. Seems like its is much more effective because the ball just seems to die when kicked right.
  11. It will go away in 10-20 year and they will blame someone else. Used to be Gen X.... Then Gen Y...
  12. Except Kyrie didn't come for free. Not sure what the Bucks would've given up, but its not like they would just add him to the current team. Someone(s) would be gone.
  13. I was surprised to see Terry Stotts still coaching Portland. I lost track of him.
  14. I've only watched 1/2 the game in rewind (I'm in the "lucky" 2% of the country that didn't air the Packer game). But Hundley really didn't look good at all. Balls were coming out all over. It didn't look like he was working through his progressions and he looked slow on the trigger. And I'm reading that it was worse in the second half. The guy will get a couple more starts at least, but he certainly should be better than that after 3 years of training. MM is saying "blame the coach" and that he didn't adjust enough. But it looked like he couldn't complete basic plays... its going to be a long season... Given that AROD didn't go on the DL, I wonder if that means he can beat the 8 week return?
  15. Ditto on stalls. I often see people walk use the ADA stall when 2-3 others are available. I certainly would have... "Yeah, I really find the music distracting as we play."
  16. Ironically, I did this for consistency before I even saw your post.
  17. I would agree that MM's teams spend their limited reps on other plays than screens. But its not like other teams don't do it well. Time to dust it off and execute it. We have two RBs (at least) that are excellent receivers, a young QB and a suspect O-line. Seems like a no-brainer.
  18. [sarcasm]Hmmm... I think Guion is still available...[/sarcasm]
  19. I'm not sure the O-line is the problem on screens. I can't think of an MM offense that was even half-decent on screen passes. Time to call up Holmgren and pick his brain. He was a master at the screen pass.
  20. Given the way things are going with concussions, I wouldn't expect this rule to change and for it to be enforced to the letter of the law.
  21. So, a new QB with different strengths and more weaknesses. How should the Packers adjust the offense to fit him? I think a full week of practice with the starters and a game plan to fit him will make the Hundley look much much better come Sunday. I don't imagine they will change the offense significantly, but I think they need to focus the attack differently: - More screens. This actually has little to do with Hundley. Our RBs seem to be tailor made for the screen pass, but we seem bad at them. But with a porous O-line and talented receivers in the backfield, this seems to be a good fit to help slow down the rush. - Bootleg runs. Certainly not something we would do with Rodgers, but I can see the Cam Newton treatment for Hundley. Still not something you want to do long term, but would help push back on the pass rush. What else would help?
  22. Edwards: I was only listening to the game when it happened and the Badgers announcer seemed to think that it had to do with Edwards leading with his helmet more than the WR ducking. Leonhard: Hard to know what his career aspirations are... he might want to become a HC somewhere. Or maybe he is happy as a DC only. But I do like how he has been coaching. Looks like a great find for Chryst. For the Packers, I was wondering what getting Dave Aranda might do for them...
  23. Yeah, the protection on Sunday after B&B went out was horrendous. Hundley barely had any time on some of those plays. Considering the time he was given, I thought he did pretty well after the first series or two.
  24. Ok, so this went to the ridiculous level yesterday. Rodgers was a back-breaking loss. But then Bahktiari and Bulaga were injured. Taylor got hurt, leaving us 2 starters on the OL and running out our 6th and 7th best OTs. Then Rollins went down too (and now on the IR).
