  1. Don't forget that many, many prospects never product a positive contribution to the MLB level. Jansen is an upgrade from EH, but that won't impact much if he plays as often as EH. I think this is an indication that Contreras is going to sit more and heal his broken finger. The biggest improvement Jansen can bring is a healthy Contreras in October.
  2. I saw an article that was trying to find the "right way" to use Kuzma (making lemonade as he says...). It was basically focused on Kuzma at PF; so Giannis' backup. The skillsets are pretty similar (though a large gap in the quality of those skillsets) and advocated that the two shouldn't be on the court at the same time. Though in a small-ball config with Giannis at C, it should still work. Also using Kuzma in a pick-n-roll role helps because it forces his defender to be up on him and not sagging off to play a soft zone. So basically, if you have Kuzma in the game when Giannis isn't and have a few minutes of the game with some overlap and limit the SF role for Kuzma (where his lack of 3PT shooting hurts), we would maximize K's strengths (and minimize his minutes).
  3. Not to mention getting Contreras more rest (hopefully) so that he can return to his normal 120 OPS+ hitting ways instead of this 95 OPS+ current version. I know people expect our MiLB prospects ranked in the 20+ region to bring back All-Star level players, but this is a good trade that fills a gap in the team. Perhaps a bit non-intuitive gap originally, but now that you see the trade and think about the situation, it makes perfect sense.
  4. Certainly not a trade on anyone's radar, but I'm not sure why that surprises us year after year. 😉 My guess is that it will be a good grab. The team must not have much confidence in Haase, or at least wants to upgrade if he is to play more and rest Contreras more (please!). Hope we have at least one more trade up their sleeves.
  5. Jansen and Ashby should become good battery mates... if taste in glasses is any indication.
  6. Too small? He perfectly fits the 5'8" market inefficiency the Brewers found! A little above average per bWAR and fWAR.
  7. Civale did a solid by throwing 5 shutout innings against the Cubs, but CWS ended up losing anyway. 😞
  8. Sure the full platinum ones are "more valuable" because of scarcity, but I think the other one looks better. I mean he won the platinum glove award and not the silver surfer award... 😏
  9. It sounds like we are disagreeing... but we aren't. I was responding to someone stating that they need MLB talent. I'm merely mentioning that a package would need to start with our top 2 MiLB players and then probably empty the rest of the top 10. But the whole thing is a silly notion anyway. Pittsburgh would be better off just working to extend him now. Their fanbase would revolt if they traded him away.
  10. We have a lot of chips right now. Not for a rental, but I'd be willing to part with Made or Pena for the right long term bat. Even the Shane Smith take is waning. Still head scratching on why he wasn't protected, but it is looking more like he picked the right SPs. Even if you think losing Smith caused us to pick up Priester, it looks like a positive move.
  11. Time is the most likely way to do that. Not like you have to pay it anyway. 😂
  12. I live in a world where all of these coexist: I love an appreciate the winning culture the Brewers have had for 10+ years (even without winning a WS). I spent many, many years watching Brewer baseball where the best thing we had was listening to Uecker not describe the action on the field. I appreciate the unorthodox job the Brewers have done (Arnold and others) to assemble this team that is befuddling the league. I'm ready to push in some chips (the expensive ones if necessary) to get a bigger bat to help the offense. Whether that is a Suarez rental or a Yelich-like long term trade (preferred). This year has a feeling like 2011 (except reverse our offense/defensive strengths)... just a feeling this team has a good chance to go far.
  13. Splitting off the Corey Seager to its own thread... ...and keep it civil please.
  14. CWH Estimation method was too high. I just took a peak at the MLB Top 30 from 2010-2020... it was more like 30% providing a positive WAR at the MLB level. I'm normally content with the "bites of the apple" approach, but this team feels a bit different. The pitching is strong and deep. Double sweeping the Dodgers had to be a pretty big confidence boost and I'm willing to buy in this year to up our chances at a WS>
  15. Historically, at least half of the 11-19 prospects from any given year amount to a career MLB WAR of 0 or less (CWH estimation). Rentals are certainly hit or miss, but this isn't exactly going out to get Schoop either. This would be a pretty big swing (pun intended) to fill our biggest hole on the team.
  16. Thanks for saving me going into our MILB roster to find that guy. 😏
  17. Maybe not, but you certainly are starting with Made AND Pena.
  18. You are overvaluing our prospects. I could respect trying to protect our top 5 or top 10, but if you wouldn't give up #19 (Craig Yoho per MLB top 30) I'm not sure what to say. I'd do that in a heartbeat. Most of the top 11-19 would be worth it (one or two individuals there would give me pause). I think we are in prime position to reverse the "bites of the apple" approach this year to push the chips in a bit.
  19. The Browns decided to match their uniforms with the product they leave on the field! Packers to face all-brown Browns in Week 3
  20. General topic for non-Packer discussion. (And we'd prefer to leave out the Bears too unless it is embarrassing!)
  21. Agreed. I'm not normally pro-alternates, but I like this one. Very clever to make a "leather" helmet.
