  1. Frankly, I don't care if he punts the ball to 1B as long as he is accurate and timely. 😂 We don't need (or can get) platinum gloves at all positions. He is solid throwing and has an excellent glove with good range. His only weakness would be the 7' high line drives....
  2. A totally unbiased opinion that I'm sure is devoid of any hyperbole... It wouldn't surprise me if the reality was closer to the Aaron Jones situation where the Packer's and Viking's deals were ultimately the same amount, with the Viking giving him more guaranteed money.
  3. nice writeup! I also find it amusing how many of those comp players were former Brewers or had draft/FA signing rumors about the Brewer's interest.
  4. My sons and I were talking about this Sunday at the game. No one player has really stood out or played at an All-Star level...yet they continue to win. Pitcher: Most Deserving: Patrick - Fading a bit more recently, but really has been good this year. Megill - The numbers are less than Uribe's but the pressure has been MUCH higher. Uribe - Looking filthy out there! But no one will "notice" until he is a closer. Most Likely: Peralta - Name recognition, but also a very steady SP anchor. Performance is about the same as Patrick's with his recent fade. Position Player: Most Deserving: Turang - His lack of slugging keeps his OPS down while most of his value comes in his platinum defense. Frelick - Starting to blossom as a hitter, but lacking SLG again. Good lead-off guy with GG defense - Oddly, this is exactly what his draft profile said he would become (how often does that happen?). Most Likely: Yelich - Name recognition driving this mostly, but his HR count doesn't hurt either. I'll vote for Patrick, but I think Yelich actually goes.
  5. I like players that enjoy baseball and are down to earth about the fans. Sal just seems like a nice guy. I saw the "bat drama" yesterday during the game but just saw this posted later. Sal returned the bat after the game.
  6. I don't do it enough to know it well. I tend to just follow my GPS. TF is a nice park and a major improvement over the Hefty-dome. They had too many seats that didn't face the action - a literal pain in the neck after watching a 9 inning ball game. I still think they should've done the retractable dome. Sure the skyline is nice, but I don't go to a ballpark to look at the skyline. April and Oct ballgames (and any rainstorm between) are miserable to watch. I spent enough of those games at County Stadium.
  7. Getting someone like Wilkins up next year at 3B isn't out of the question either. Not that Durbin is much better, but Durbin to 2B and Turang to SS fixes it too.
  8. My sons and I will be there on Sunday. One has to work tonight or we'd probably go to see Les Mis making the Twins Miserable'! Oddly, I don't find getting in and out of Minneapolis downtown any worse than getting out of Miller Park (yes, I said it) despite it not being surrounded by buildings. I've not decided if we take the rail or not... I tend to prefer the rail as I hate the headache of driving, but it is slower overall. But if the Brewers win big, the Twins will be leaving early. 😂
  9. HOF-Spring Training Edition. Yeah, remember that 3B we had hitting bombs this ST that some thought was the answer to our 3B issue and then he went 0-everything for a month? Neither do I.
  10. I split this out of the Civale thread for a little more visibility.
  11. Well Jaire signs with the Ravens for $4M and $2M in incentives. I wonder what his father thinks about JA working for "nothing" now? Honestly, I wish JA well - especially since he signed with an AFC team. But I think this validates the Packer's position also.... and I have my doubt that JA is making any more moey than he would've with the Pack.
  12. On the positive side, he doesn't actually need makeup to reprise his role as Yogurt! 😂
  13. You already got good advice on what you could look for, but I wanted to touch on this comment. Without knowing your wife specifically, I highly doubt she feels this way. If you doubt that, be as vulnerable with her as you were with us and tell her that is the way you feel. The man and father you are at home is more valuable than the paycheck you bring home. Certainly, there will be stress if you can't pay mortgage or other bills. But stresses can also build and strength a marriage if you are open with her. It can also drive a wedge if people close up. Work with her through this stress and you will see the relationship grow. Your 1 year old wants one and only one thing from you: time. (but your wife will also want you to change his/her diaper too 😉). Don't be discouraged. Bad things do happen to good people. But good people don't let bad things stop them. Sincerely Cheez - father of 6 and husband of 1 wife for 30 years.
  14. Please return to talking about Devers and not about posters.
  15. Correct. It is wrong to presume that all the teams out there looking for starters will suddenly completely forget that he can start due to a few months pitching in the BP. However, they will know he isn't willing to be flexible despite being a #4-#5 SP that will most likely need to move to the BP as he ages.
  16. Agreed. CB depth is perhaps my main concern about our roster, but Melton playing CB is more about Melton than our depth. I'd imagine we might kick the tires on the 1 or 2 guys out in FA if they are willing to be a #4 CB (having a vet for coaching might be nice), but more than likely we will wait until cuts and claim someone or make a late round trade for someone.
  17. Quite literally, I turned on the game, Seattle kicked an XP and then did the onside kick. Might've been many other factors to the game, but it was the seminal moment and unfortunately the one I saw. He was very good for the first couple of years and then never quite got back to that form. I think after Collins was lost, there was a strong hope he would step into that role.
  18. Pitching out of the BP isn't publicly agreeing with anything. He could easily say to the next reporter "I think I'm still a SP quality pitcher, but this is what the team needs of me". It will be interesting to see if he actually improves his performance without the Brewer's defense behind him now.
  19. I have no problem with him asking the Brewers for a trade, but I find it disrespectful to: Ask for one publicly Ask for it immediately The Brewers helped rebuild his value after his struggles in TB. Showing a lack of flexibility will probably hurt his FA market next year. It isn't like he is a TOR starter.
  20. The "moving to the BP will ruin Civale's FA market next year" is massively overblown. Pitching for 4 months out of the BP isn't going to make people suddenly forget how he can pitch as a starter. If he pitches well, he pitches well. Him going back to a 5+ ERA pitcher is what will ruin his FA market value.
  21. Ok, MIs had a nice start. Time to move him back to AAA and Civale back to the starting rotation. Problem solved.
  22. I remember the first time I picked up an Onion paper in Milwaukee... I thought it was a local version of the Enquirer initially... then it clicked that it was satire. Good stuff.
