  1. A Skenes/Miz swap is a no-win situation. Miz has become a fan favorite (and Skenes in Pitt), so trading either one is going to enrage the fanbase. Skenes is better right now with perhaps a bit less risk, but their career path potentials overlap quite a bit. Maybe with Miz having the higher floor and lower ceiling. Skenes has a clear short-term advantage (i.e. able to pitch more innings this year), but that amounts to a rental that I wouldn't want to pay much for.
  2. (I created it, so I need to keep posting it! 😉) Now that we passed the Cubs, it is time to "lap" them! I'm not sure what that means in the context of a baseball record, but it sounds fun!
  3. "Weapon".... someone to compete with Malik Heath I guess...
  4. Meh. It's a nothing-burger article. If he truly believes in Kuzma and plans to keep him, he will say positive things about him. If he thinks he is terrible, but can't get rid of him, he will say positive things about him to help boost confidence. If he is about to trade him, he is going to say positive things about him to keep his trade value high. It's what GMs do... say positive things about their players and don't tip their hand about what you are really doing or thinking. If they are really keeping Kuzma, I hope the offseason will help him play better with the team and he simply had an issue transitioning... I guess we wait and see.
  5. For someone at the back end of the Brewer's top 20? Seems like a no-brainer to me.
  6. Fountain of Youth was decent, but not must-see. Worth watching but feels a lot like Indiana Jones and National Treasure made a baby while watching Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and The Mummy. A fun movie, but nothing really "new and fresh". Sounds like it will try to make a sequel.
  7. My company does "summer hours" where we can work four 9hour days and half a day Friday. Nearly everyone works from home on Friday. Given the heavy load of construction on my commute, it is practically like getting a vacation day - and they are often my most productive days.
  8. I can't see RP being a need at all for the Brewers, so pass. If we are going to get a rental, I'd like to see a SS/2B/3B player. But I'd still prefer a Yelich-like trade for someone longer term with higher upside at 1B/3B/OF.
  9. I just watched episode one and am both intrigued and confused. I'm not quite sure what this is supposed to be... I'm assuming these are new characters spinning off the Godzilla/King Kong movie series? Is this more about the people or the monsters? What is your impression after watching more than 2 episodes (assuming you did)?
  10. So I started thinking about this topic in a different way recently. What if Arnold is getting too much credit? A few years back, our pitching results started to turn around.... then we lost Derek Johnson and we thought the progress would come crashing down... but it didn't. Improvement continued under Chris Hook. Nov 2023, CC leaves the Brewers for the ScRubs and we thought the winning culture in the clubhouse would erode under Murphy... but the winning ways continue. Oct 2023 (and really all the way back to 2021 when he retired in place), we lost David Sterns to the NYM. David made some excellent trades, FA signings, and general improvement to the drafting process. We thought that all would chase him out the door to deep pocket Yankee-wannabees. But Arnold took over and not much really changed. Now, I'm not saying that either the men that left, nor their replacements haven't had an impact on the Brewer's success, but perhaps the organization as a whole is well run and structured in a manner to precipitate their success? The "it takes a village" type mentality, because the ability to identify talent, develop (or fix) that talent, and put them in a position to succeed is pretty amazing(especially with failed pitching prospects from other teams). If you've ever worked in a company that was poorly run and moved to a company that was setup for success, perhaps you've experienced a touch of this? Just a thought.
  11. Looks like he edited a quoted post to include your nested quote (which was a link about Abreu).
  12. So... they expect to be named and All-Star so they can decline but still get a bonus? 🙄
  13. The opener - I like this idea when the starting lineup is RH/LH heavy and our SP is opposite-handed. No real need otherwise. Piggyback starters - I think we need to handle that for innings management with some of the players. I'd rather have Miz with strong innings come playoff time than "hit the wall" innings.
  14. I tend to lean towards the long-term fixes instead of the rentals. If we are able to swing Lawlar and Smith, that would go a long way to fixing our infield.
  15. But he is 5'8"! 5'8" players are at the heart of our offense! We should trade away Chourio to make room for shorter players. Also 80" high, Areinamo is on his way to take Turang's place at 2B also!
  16. I met a friend's daughter who was staring at her phone. I greeted her and asked her some simple question about herself. She looked up at her phone and stared at me for a couple of seconds...then went back to staring at her phone. To which "stare" do you refer?
  17. We'll do the conversation in the threads
  18. I figured it would be nice to have one summary thread to link all the individual threads together. My brain likes a little organization! 19. @colbyjack still views the board I believe, but he hasn't posted in a couple of years... maybe he'll be nice and give us a few post-draft nuggets! 😏
  20. He sounds like a direct upgrade for Bauer - even to the point of playing the OF (but can he pitch?). Might be a "buy high" candidate given his All Star status. He would need to be a platoon player has he has some pretty stark splits. Thus he and Vaughn could fit together without much issue. Or with Hoskins when he returns. He also has a huge results change going from KC (83 OPS+ in 5 seasons) to Baltimore (126 OPS+ in 3 seasons). Makes me wonder how a team change might impact him?
