  1. My wife and I hit our 30th anniversary next month. We have a child with special needs so it is difficult to get away alone. But I worked it out with my older kids (one out of the house, two in college) to manage the house for a long weekend. I was able to book an AirBnB in the Ozark mountains, a Sight and Sound show, 2 hour Tram Ride, and a dinner cruise... all without her knowing about it. Hopefully, I'm not posting about this in the "Whats Bugging you" thread in a month... 😂
  2. I've not been in Rome specifically, but EU countries tend to be much, much safer from violence compared to US counterparts. I lived in Munich in '97 and wouldn't have blinked if my wife had to take a train at midnight by herself. However, do watch your pockets. Paris, Rome, and a few other cities are known to be heavy on pickpockets. I was in Paris less than 6 hours and caught someone trying to pick my pocket.
  3. Is this a Peacock exclusive movie? I love whodunnit movies so I'd check it out... but I don't have Peacock (and I don't chase subscriptions for a movie sake...
  4. Last I checked, Middleton wasn't on this year's playoff team, so I assumed you were suddenly going to previous years. If you meant pre-trade, it wasn't clear... nor really pertinent to the playoff discussion. So yes, the inclusion of Middleton into the discussion of whether we were winning this year's playoff series with Indiana was confusing.
  5. I didn't realize it was an early game. Interesting to see Priester nearly match Skene's line from yesterday (2 more hits, one less BB and K). That means they are the same, right?
  6. It looked like the PIrate had it easy, but then it bounced weirdly away from him... Hard to predict that.
  7. Sorry, I was talking about this year and you were going on about Middleton and previous year's injuries... I had no idea why. It honestly sounded like a drunk post. If you think a healthy LIllard would've made sense this year, great. You are entitled to that opinion. I thought they looked bad... all year. Giannis and Lillard don't belong together; they look like two good players doing their own thing out there. Doesn't matter if Dame was healthy or not... they weren't beating the Pacers. I guess I take some solace on how well the Pacers continue to play...
  8. The context of my post was that this year with Lillard (i.e. fully healthy), they weren't winning. There really isn't room for opinion there... They won one game, got clobbered in two games and losing the third badly when he went down. I said nothing about Middleton or previous years.
  9. Chourio needs some time at AAA to get straightened out! I guess the positive view is that he hit poorly in Mar-May last year and was on fire the rest of the way (and it is almost June!). Maybe we just give him a vacation each Mar-May?
  10. Gen X hates Millennials! 😛 Sorry to hear about the rash. I've heard it isn't fun. My neighbor got it and was ADAMANT that I go get it (I'm Gen X over 50 for me). Seems odd that they would limit the vaccine based on age though...
  11. How much does Rock call anymore? There have been several stretches where he is completely absent. On a related note, I thought I'd like Dillard as the color commentator better than I do.
  12. I'm not watching the game, but I'm not a fan of Chourio in CF. He doesn't look natural or comfortable. I'd rather have Frelick out there and Chourio in RF.
  13. He is no BA, but Levering doesn't bother me. I do agree that he thinks he is funnier than he is.
  14. Rash or Roof?
  15. For that amount it isn't a matter of you could, but if you should. That contract would be a disaster. I love Adames, but he isn't a player that will age well. His defense is dropping off already and his offense is sporadic year to year. He was big in the clubhouse, but is the type of player we need to enjoy while inexpensive and move on when they hit big.
  16. I mean that with his defense slipping, it would've made more sense to have him at 3B and Ortiz/Turang at SS.
  17. The Packers have Clark, Jaire, Jenkins, and Gary that could be cut or extended with each having $24-31M cap hits next year (or savings of $14-20M each)
  18. No, that I don't think it is even close. Yelich has been surprisingly bad this year, but was an All-Star just last year. Even in his worst year as a Brewer, he was just above average hitter (101 OPS+). We may be grossly overpaying Yeli, but he still provides positive offensive contribution. And I'll take that for 3 years. Willy has been very up-and-down with his bat and we all saw the defensive regression start... I'm not sure he would be our starting SS if he was with the Brewers. I didn't want to see Adames leave, but I also didn't want him on a long term contract either. I just don't see that contract ending well. Maybe he comes back as a coach....
  19. The Brewers won the FIRST game of a series instead of just the third.
  20. There is only one answer to this thread: A flash of leather, a cannon's might, Adames arrived, a glorious sight. He anchored shortstop, with flair and with grace, A spark in the lineup, a smile on his face. The Brewers faithful, their hopes took a flight, With Willy at short, everything felt right. But payrolls and budgets, a difficult truth, The cost to retain him, exceeded their youth. With heavy hearts knowing his worth and his name, They bid him farewell, though it wasn't the same. When Counsel departed, a wound sharp and deep, A leader, a legend, the promises to keep. We cheered every move, every tactical call*, Believed in his vision, he stood strong and tall. The coffers were open, the offer was there, To keep him in Milwaukee, beyond all compare. Yet south he did wander, a bitterest sting, To Wrigley's green ivy, the song Cubs will sing. A rival, a foe, where our victories sting, Craig's choice left a silence, where cheers used to ring. *AI generated, so this does not reflect the views of the poster...
  21. In this day and age of not blocking the plate, why would the size of the catcher really matter? Easier pitch framing? FYI, Marco is listed at 1" and 10lbs under Jonathan Lucroy. He is the same height and 5lbs heavier than Craig Biggio.
