  1. 27-year-old LHP Brae Wright's Brewer career is over as he was released from the organization on Monday Ok, I'll finally admit you guys were right to remove him from the P50 two years ago... Seriously, its too bad. He was one I enjoyed following back then. I thought maybe he would finally get back to pitching this year. Best of luck to you Mr. Wright.
  2. Now we just need a cardboard cut out of TLR with 50 pieces of clothing and... oh wait, this is supposed to be motivational.
  3. They're like a bunch of 4th grade girls. That's an insult to my 4th grade daughter...
  4. Wow, July disappeared in a flash! Why can't February go that fast??? DSL: Pitcher: Jorge L Ortega: Nothing really special this month for pitching. Ortega was efficient with an ERA of 1.80 in 25.0 IP, only giving up 17 hits and 3BB. But also only 16Ks (5.8K/9IP). Batter: Sthervin Matos: Can I get a pronunciation guide please? Only 6 months older than Arcia, he has burst on the scene at 3B in July (not playing prior), putting up a line of 344/462/484/946. Orlando Arcia was deserving also, but I'm feeling communistic and am spreading the wealth around. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Arizona: Pitcher: Stephen Peterson: Hmmm a 23 yo LHRP wins? I'll trust that the higher ceiling guys are "working on something". But Peterson did have a 1.50 ERA and 16K/2BB in 12.0 IP. Batter: Steve Felix: How hard is it to catch in the AZ heat? Evidently, not that bad. 4 of the top 5 AZ Brewer hitters are catchers. At 23, Steve might be a touch old, but he did put up a line of 321/418/571/989. Garfield also put up similar numbers, but was limited in ABs due to injury. But at least he is more age appropriate for the level. Helena: Pitcher: Jacob Andrew Barnes While only compiling 11.2 IP, its his 20K/4BB (and 1.54 ERA) that wins the honors for the 6'2" 230lb 21yo. Batter: Nicholas Randolph Ramirez: Nick wins a contested battle here. Dishon, Rivera, and Walla all deserve some consideration, especially if you consider age. But Nick starts his MLB career with 369/383/689/1072 (including the end of June) at rookie ball. Wisconsin: Pitcher: James Nelson: Nice to see Jimmy round into form (no body shape pun intended). He put up a 32k/13BB in 30.1IP for a 3.56 ERA. Rosario also put up a nice 26K/8BB in 21 IP. Batter: Thomas J. Mittelstaedt: Second straight for TJ, putting up a line of 323/404/495/898. Cody Hawn was doing well before he got hurt and Joe Paciorek also looked good in limited ABs (being a catcher). Brevard: Pitcher: Evan Anundsen: What? On a team with Bucci and Thornburg, how does Evan pull this one out? While both Bucci and Thornburg put up good numbers, their walk rates jumped up. And Evan puts up a nice clean 20K/2BB in 24.1 IP for an ERA of 1.48 Batter: D' Vontrey Richardson: Probably not the numbers of Khris Davis, but I can't extract Davis' July Brevard numbers. But Richardson continues his ascension with July numbers of 336/374/449/823 Huntsville: Pitcher: Wily Peralta: No need to look any further than Peralta, as he was dominant this month: 0.66 ERA with 32hits, 38K, and 13BB in 41IP. Merklinger had some nice numbers in 6 starts also. Batter: Erik Jordan Komatsu: Going away present for Little Pine. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Erik continued to hit well, but not tearing the cover off the ball: 279/398/430/836. Plus no one else at AA really did anything of note. BK and Kh Davis need to get going soon, or their offense is going to be brutal. Nashville: Pitcher: Michael Bruce Fiers: I had him as POM for June in AA. Now in AAA, same result. Limited by a bruised finger, Fiers continues to produce: 2.50 ERA with 17K/9BB (but only 12 hits) in 18IP Batter: Taylor Green: Beyond the obvious here (FREE GREEN!), Nashville as a whole has been putting up some "holy cow" stats. Green: 373/496/637/1133 Schafer: 436/522/564/1086 Gindl: 351/417/535/952 Almonte: 329/439/524/963 Gamel: 301/393/452/845 - must have been recovering from his MLB hangover Overall: Pitcher: Peralta - head and shoulders above everyone else Batter: Green - Couldn't be anyone else at this point. Schafer was also extremely impressive, but it still couldn't be anyone else! DM are you listening?
  5. Hopefully the Brewers can remember to sign their top 3 picks And Rounds 5, 12, 13, 16, 17, and 18! Those last three are long shots, but they could shake up the system a bit also... And in the next month, we could see two more events to change the system. Signing deadline on Aug 15th and the Mets trade PTBNL deadline on Sept 1. edit: This line looks a little suspect: The 2010 2nd rounder, Nelson made progress in July, with a much higher K rate and much lower K rate than he had posted previously.
  6. I had that thought a while back that they might be watching a few player's rehab assignments (Stetter and/or Kintzler). Both have higher ceilings than McClendon, but its not looking like either will be ready any time soon (which might actually be a positive for the Brewers). Rogers doesn't make since, since we have known that he will need surgery since before the trade. So, even though he is back pitching, I doubt the Mets would take that chance.
  7. Thanks for the summer ball update, CJ. Do the Brewers still have a shot at Rodon, Amaral, or McFarland if a higher pick (say Micheal Reed) doesn't sign and they offer over-slot compensation to make up for that loss? Or has the ship sailed on those three?
  8. I was expecting Jungmann or Bradely to take a while before signing, but I'm a little disappointed with a few others. Obviously Lopez would be nice to have delivered. Sounded like it was close, then...??? Hopefully, this will get done soon, now that the July 31st trade deadline is passed. But there are a couple others that have been pretty quiet. Any news on Michael Reed, Andrew Cain or Mallex Smith? Are they playing summer ball anywhere that people know of? I consider any of Rodon, Amaral, or McFarland to be a bonus signing, but anything below 15, I would be a little disappointed to lose.
  9. C Patrick Arlis is once again placed on the DL. Boy,what could have been if Arlis could just stay healthy! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  10. Parker Berberet of Helena hits a two run RBI single Not sure about the first 5 tools, but his 6th tool ('stache quotient) looks pretty high!
  11. Is there a deadline for the Mets to select the players? I thought I read by Sept 1. Doh! Missed MassHaas reply on the next page...
  12. I will pine for Little Pine, but I'm still ok with this trade. Nice to see Hairston can play so many positions, especially with several hurt or struggling.
  13. I mean Wilson and CC can both play 2nd....how many 2nd basemen do you need? Just one. We are still looking for him. Taylor Green now 10th in the PCL in OBP. One behind Lawrie, two behind Cole Gillespie. 9th in OPS (Lawrie leads). He is ahead of Mat Gamel in both stats. Any doubts that Lawrie would be manning 2B or 3B right now if we still had him?
  14. When Farris first got called up, I was about 99% sure that it was because Green is on the list. But looking back at it and to quote myself: I doubt they pair Green or Schafer with someone of MLB experience, unless its a really low-end/older guy like Sean Green/James/DeFelice, which I really doubt. We know one has MLB experience and it really seems that McClendon is the obvious choice there. If the Mets get McClendon and Green, I'd be furious. If that were the haul for K-Rod, the Linebrink trade would look like chump change. The second (no MLB Experience) player has to be someone at a lower level...
  15. I'll consider the trade Nievas for Lopez in my head. Yes, we win that one. We got him for $1? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif He actually crossed my mind when Weeks went down. Of course, so did Ray Durham...
  16. Any of you guys catch in highschool? Yes. I must have been really good defensively, since I couldn't hit a lick... I hope my wife doesn't hear about this... she might take the $1.
  17. $2M signing bonus equates to about a middle-third 1st round pick (like our two this year), right?
  18. for a team that boasts 2009 AL Cy Young Award Winner Zack Greinke as well as Shaun Marcum and newcomer Francisco Rodriguez. Kind of a slam in leaving out Gallardo... Well, at least we didn't draft him in the 8th round. Losing little brother Weeks really stunk. How great would he look now, taking his brothers' spot at 2B?
  19. then just bring him up for the Cards series for a few walk offs. Wasn't that the Reds? Career OPS is 938 against the Reds anyway. Career OPS is 1.438 with a pink bat. Anyway, he has been injured since July 8th.
  20. Well, we know Farris isn't on the PTBNL list.... Eric Farris, may you catch the spirit of Fernado Vina.
  21. 20-year-old Max Walla is starting to look like a ballplayer Its easy to forget how young he is, since this is his third season. 20yo isn't too bad for rookie ball. Also, do we have any pictures where we aren't being tagged out? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif But I have to admit that picture of Kyle Dhanani getting tagged out at home is and excellent photograph (if I suspend my baseball fan mentality for a moment).
  22. Does a gathering snowstorm have to "earn" its designation as a blizzard? Actually yes. How often does a weather man call for 12" of snow and we get 1"? (Twice last winter) Or vice versa? On Oct 31, 1991, northern WI got 39" of snow. Weather forecasts called for 3-4". The baseball equivalent of that is Mike Piazza. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. I don't like the idea that a player has to "earn" his prospect rating. I won't try to answer for Geezy, but I've said something similar myself, mainly on draft picks. My reasoning is that often a scouting report of someone in college or HS doesn't always translate well into the minors. That guy hitting 96-97 suddenly is throwing 91-92 (for control or longer season, or whatever), so suddenly his ceiling isn't so high. Arnett is only one example of many where the tools in college/HS don't translate into the minors. Now, if a guys comes into rookie ball and is throwing 95+, but with a 5.00+ ERA, his performance isn't going to bother me. But he as to perform somewhere. No one with a 100/0 rating (And That's scale) is ever promoted to the MLB. That zero has to become something before anyone calls him up.
