  1. I'd prefer seeing him finish the AAA, then go to the AZL fall league. There is a small amount of time between those that he could be called up, but would need to be added to the 40-man first. Not sure I see any real benefit for a week or so of MLB bench time. The Brewers have generally avoided calling up guys just to fill the bench and Schafer, being LH, isn't going to see much time in place of Morgan.
  2. Not surprising Ramirez was promoted with Hawn doing a disappearing act. Would be room for both anyway with 1B and DH.
  3. That sounds pretty cool. And now I realize that I went into the wrong type of software engineering.... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  4. Nick Bucci went seven innings for the fourth straight start, but this one falls into the "ugly but effective" category: 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, 1 HR, 5/8 GO/AO Wildly effective? Hate to see 4BB, but 8 runners in 7 innings is tolerable.
  5. Per Milwaukee Brewers Transactions site- Chase Wright has been signed and been assigned to AAA Nashville. Milwaukee Brewers transactions page Thats odd. He has been pitching for Nashville nearly all season (save for a short stint at AA).
  6. colby, thanks for the profile. I noticed that you listed slider twice (once positive and once negative). Was the second one meant to be his changeup? Also, any projection as to what speed he could reach as he matures?
  7. Canadian Pitchers Brian Smith(Cubs) and Joel Pierce(Brewers) go head to head...in AZL League. Long time friends. Too bad he must hate him now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  8. Hopefully, they react explosively when exposed to the bright lights. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. It would be correct to call me an amature scout, but only as it describes my scouting ability, not whom I scout. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Bucci looks like he was having problems locating his FB. Few pitches way inside or way outside. And a few where the catcher was on the outside, but the pitch came inside. Looked like his FB and curve both came from the same release spot, however. Ugh. Khris Davis: Care to elaborate? I saw a lot of rocking and waggling going on. If that is his trigger mechanism, I can see a pitcher changing his speeds giving him problems. Didn't Bill Hall do the same when he first came up (later quieting his swing)? I'm starting to come around on Ke Davis. I like how is bat is so still, even as his body starts to step in. I'm pretty sure one of those hits was on a curveball that he could still hit after his front foot hit the ground. Morris was probably the quietest swing of them all. Scooter seems to need a bat waggle to trigger his swing. Hey thanks for linking those! That fits in well with recent potential/production discussions. This board has to be one of the best sports forums, as its not just idle chatter.
  10. He was hit by a pitch. Bite your tongue.Mat Gamel blooped an opposite-field ducksnort to left that dropped right onto the foul line for an RBI single that knocked in Taylor Green and increased the Sounds' advantage to 4-1.Too bad, cause it would have been really impressive to score without getting on base. That might have really gotten RR's attention. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  11. I no longer have to type out either his or Kentrail Davis's full name when referencing them in game recaps. To "Davis"! I think we should just drop "Davis" and refer to them as Ke and Kh.
  12. Just after I was knocking him because the Brewers were so slow to promote him (implying they don't like him that much)! That was one of the bigger holes in my argument that he is a legit prospect. Now, I'll tackle proving to you that all of Kurt Warner's success was due to spending a ST in Green Bay... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. No doubt an upgrade over Chris D. then, right? Headshot! Maybe we can get Chris D back if we trade Sergio Mitre back to... oh never mind.
  14. Mediocre range, but soft hands/picks it pretty well. Probably not; definitely not*. *They tried Morris at 3B and LaPorta in LF, so who knows what they'll actually try. Thanks for the update. Just remembered that he throws left handed, so 3B is not an option. But still, unless they want Hawn and Ramirez to play defense 100% of the time for development, no one at A-ball is blocking him from 1B/DH with Hawn. Arcia: .319/.411/.511 Who says you can't walk off the island? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  15. Unless something happens to Morgan, no I don't think so. He missed a lot of time due to injuries, so he should get as much playing time as possible. No sense bringing him up to sit on the bench while we are trying to win the division.
  16. Per his agent's tweet, Khris Davis has been promoted to Huntsville And there was much rejoicing!
  17. It's to the point where the Brewers need to get Nick Ramirez on an A-ball roster. They can find the room. I would think that now that Chris Dennis is back at A+, they could swap Hawn and Ramirez back and forth between 1B and DH. I know Hawn isn't a world-beater at 1B defensively (at least from his draft report). Any idea how Ramirez is on the defensive side? And chance he can play LF or 3B? Also, anyone know what his right bicep tattoo says?
  18. I would think that would mean Lintz will now be pitching out of the BP 100%. Sink or swim time, Seth.
  19. ... and neither have great bat speed. Question: Where do you find information like this after a player is drafted? Is it just a matter of reading the right information or from watching the players in person? Not being privy to that type if information is what forces me (out of necessity) to be more production focused. Hmmm... I wonder if Moneyball started out of a bunch of guys on an internet forum. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  20. I'll also add that after being drafted, scouting reports on these players are pretty few and far between. Add in not seeing them very often in person and it forces more of a production based view. And its interesting that Khris Davis is only one year older than Hunter Morris (or 10 months if you want to be specific), and has shown more power and more plate discipline than Morris at A and A+ (being at both places at the same time). And can play LF, whereas Morris is limited to 1B (realistically). Now perhaps Morris has better power potential, but you at least have to have them in the same ballpark as players.
  21. 1. Draft reports are typically accurate, Poor choice of words on my part. I meant more along the lines that carrying over those scouted tools (especially FB speed) into the minors tends to be a difficult task. Heckathorn's a good example of that. 2. Having success in AA and AAA is nice, but in reality, if you aren't toolsy enough to succeed in the big leagues Tools aren't the only way someone succeeds in the majors. It sure helps, but there are plenty of examples of successful non-toolsy guys and plenty of toolsy failures. Plus at some point, you have to put up good numbers. Braddock wouldn't have gotten a chance at the MLB level if he continually put up a mid-5 ERA in the minors. At some point potential must become production. Also, I was comparing toolsy low-level players vs. lower-tool upper level. Comparing two guys on the same level adds more wrinkles. I don't think Davis is an impact player in the MLB. That's fair. Its a mixed bag on the forum (made obvious by this thread). But to leave him off a list of 50, especially with our system is grossly underrating him. If he's going to play either of those positions, he's going to have to really, really hit. Any reason to think that way? He has done nothing but hit since he arrived. Plus, his prospect status shouldn't rest on who is ahead of him. His defense is a sure limitation, but that should make him the ideal Brewer prospect! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. like a Reed Johnson in an August waiver deal JB, are really Reed Johnson's dad? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I'd prefer Chris Dickerson! ok, that should be enough to completely derail this thread... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  23. I'd go with RR, who pretty much said there is no desperate need to make moves with these guys. That normally code for "a trade is in the works." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Casey: .290/.343/.290/.643 He hasn't hit anything but singles in 2 weeks? Ouch...
  24. Well, at least they have publicly acknowledged Green's presence in the minors. Perhaps after being asked, RR gave a "stock answer", but later went back and asked DM, "Who is this Taylor Green guy?" And I'd put money down that the "fans clamoring" were mainly BF.net members... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  25. Well, that was quick. Carroll is brought up. ...since anyone other than Green or Gamel probably means an injury replacement. Unfortunately...
