  2. So when hugging Pujols, what is the maximum length to hold the hug before becoming unclassy? But seriously, I generally pass on getting hugs from men I don't know really well (and then only if its the handshake-one-arm-man-hug).
  3. Prince? Are you sure those were Portabello mushrooms you found in the woods behind the house? Ohhh the pretty colors!!!
  4. Dustin Houle of Penticton, B.C., an eighth-round choice, signed with the Milwaukee Brewers, who gave him a $150,000 signing bonus. Hmmmm... I'm smelling a Canadian bias... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  5. so she could meet my future big league Brewer son-in-law Good luck to Jalen to becoming a big league Brewer and to you for... the other part. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  6. Since the Brewers switched to the NL (plus a couple years to get over old rivalries), I started pulling for the Twins. But, I don't follow any team like the Brewers and wouldn't be able to name half the players on the current Twins team. Living on the Mississippi and both teams suffering from small(ish) markets and attracting FAs, etc... Seems natural to cheer for the Twins (even though 1987 still doesn't sit well). Kind of like the Indians also.
  7. Here is more how I see it: Exceeding expectations: Marcum - has been great out of the gates. Slowed a little lately, but still above what I expected. Wolf - I generally argued against the "Suppan II" crowd, but he is still better than what I expected this year. Mitre - My expectations were quite low, so being "solid" exceeds those expectations. Pitching to expectations: Estrada - Has been up and down, but back-end BP/6th starters will do that. Axford - Maybe slightly above expectations, but I thought he could repeat last year. Narveson - I expected a 5th starter. Which is about what he has given (maybe a little above that). As others said, about the same as last year. Gallardo - Started slow, then dominated. Overall, his numbers are about his norms. Not pitching to expectations: Greinke - Below mainly because of the injury and slow start. Has been coming on strong with some dominating starts. Over the last month, I would put him in the "As Expected" category. Loe - Below expectations, but mainly due to usage by the coaching staff, IMO. Being used too often and exposed to big lefties (Votto) too much. Braddock - I don't know where to put him. Pitches well, but unreliable with this sleeping issue and other things. Too soon: Hawkins - He has pitched very well, but just very limited also... Dillard - As others said, fringe MLBer, but not enough innings to know anything. Stetter - been too injured and up and down between MLB and MiLB
  8. Without that, he's Brian Shouse at best. You mean that lefty specialist that pitched well for us for a few years and gained us a supplemental pick when he left? Or did you mean Brian Shouse, 2011 version? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  9. Bradley Blanks made his Brewers organizational debut in the Brevard game. And he lived up to his name: 1IP, 1H, 1BB, but no runs scored
  10. No one remembers the excuses after the banners are hung. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  11. Can anyone comment on Wilson's defense at 3B? His offense is better this year, but not earth shattering. If he can play good defense at 3B/1B and even some at LF/RF, he might have a shot as a MLB backup.
  12. Me too! *E-High Five* Add me to the list as well! Well, I can kind of be on this list... I studied Spanish in HS, but German while living in Munich. And yes, I did use it there. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. I throw RH, but maybe I should have batted LH. I couldn't have been any worse... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  14. Don't forget Hart was out for some time, Lucroy missed the start of the season, Hawkins took a while, Kintzler is still out, Braddock, Stetter, Parra... There were quite a few out to start the season, which surely didn't help our start... And those little injuries add up quickly in the BP, especially when guys like Herrara get called up
  15. Bradley Blanks - Should add that to the nickname thread. Awesome name for a pitcher!
  16. If Arnett scuffles this season, do you think they will try him as a reliever to see if that helps any? I would guess this is a do or die year for him...
  17. DHonks, you have a perspective that many of us don't get to see. So I'm curious, given what you said about what each one of your former students needs, what makes you think that they will get those things better in college? Thanks.
  18. Still as the quintessential example of a late round success story, he deserved at least a name drop in the opening paragraph... Nice to see Herrera, Kintzler, and Maldonado all get props in the article...
  19. Since Chris is linking to this thread, I figured I would returnthe favor. I saw somewhere that Thornburg is dominating 18 and 19 year olds in the Midwest League. For grins, here are the ages of the Chiefs in their starting lineup for game one: 21, 22, 22, 25, 23, 23, 21, 19, 19.Oh, and the 19 year olds in this game against Thornburg: 1-for-2 with a double and three of the walks that Thornburg issued on the night.Look, he’ll move up when he moves up? Patience. All we need is just a little patience.
  20. Huntsville Bottom of the 1st That had to be an entertaining half inning (for us that is).
  21. Can you say "Swing and Miss?!?!" How can you forget Mike Piazza as drafted in the 62nd round of the 1988 draft??? He is the poster child of late round picks...
  22. I don't blame these guys for wanting to go to college instead. I don't either. But I wonder why they feel the need (especially these low round draft guys) to chirp to the press about how the Brewers aren't offering enough, especially on the first offer. Seems like we are seeing more and more of this lately.
  23. For nearly four months, Texas pitcher Taylor Jungmann was simply unbeatable. And then he lost two games in a row. He was drafted by the Brewers... I think its a curse.
