  1. If he was alreayd on a team and knew the WR, you can give an older guy some latitude. But a new team, new offense, new WRs... you really have to be there.
  2. Agreed. The best time to start investing is yesterday... the second best is today. I started my 401k at 22 (right out of college) and could retire at 60 if I wanted to. I started my kids' 529b accounts when they were young (4, but wish I started sooner). I ended up putting in enough money for about 1 year of college, interest paid for the second year and part of the third. The rest was on them. 😏 Behold the power of compound interest.
  3. Sadly, I think the Vikings are too smart for that. I can imagine the conversation: "So, are you willing to get to work right away and get to know the team? Nah, just get the WRs ready for me to come in during TC... I'll be in my darkness hut" Just the fact that he is signing so late with a new team screams red flag to me. Dude just doesn't understand team building and that winning a SB requires every advantage you can get. I doubt it, but Pittsburgh doesn't have much beyond Metcalf. I think pairing this with their throw-back blue uniforms would look awesome. And I'm not one for the throwbacks... but I do like this.
  4. I wouldn't either. Just from a roster management point of view that requires putting him on the 40 man. They are willing to send down (potentially) better SPs just because they have options and it would require losing a player, I doubt they create more of an issue. But the good news is that it is now June, and Chourio has warmed up. Dude just doesn't like hitting in March, April, or May. Mar-May 2024: 210/253/327/580 June-Oct 2024: 303/351/525/875
  5. Unlikely. The Brewers are far more prone to bring up a AAAA get-me-by SP than pull up someone from AA. And neither Hunt nor Crow are even that high up the food chain. Every team has players at that "level" of SP at AA.
  6. It will be interesting to see Ben Johnson's impact on Detroit and Chicago... Will success follow Johnson to Chicago and Detroit turns into a pumpkin? Will Detroit move on and Chicago continue to flop? Or the best scenario... the genius leaves with Johnson, but the HC responsibilities in the blowhard city overwhelms him and they both flop. 😂
  7. I think we have a lot of quality depth, but lacking on high end talent. Woody does of course, but the likelihood of him showing it this year is probably low. If you get a 3.5-4.0 ERA from Woody, we should probably be happy. Les Mis has the high-end capability, but I doubt you see him this year as a starter. Freddy is a classic #2. Always available, steady results of good-not-great, Much of our SP results are buoyed by the fact that we don't push them to finish 6 IP very often. That puts extra pressure on the BP. That normally pays some consequences late in the season. That is highly optimistic. I'd be happy to see them earn AAA for next year.
  8. My friend had a C64 growing up. Honestly, I thought it was boring. And I played a game consol that had 4 different versions of pong. The controls where a simple knob you spun CW/CCW to make the paddle go up and down. You plugged it into a TV via the antenna inputs and turn the TV to channel 4 (we had a channel 3 OTA station).
  9. Piggyback starters have finally come to the MLB level. It is an interesting idea.
  10. No one will ever need more than 640 kB of RAM.... Thanks for making me feel old. 😬
  11. If you have a well-rested BP, I understand the strategy... but at some point you have to let the SP try to get out of the 6th. The younger guys that need innings restrictions... OK. But I'd let Civale run yesterday.
  12. And to think it was 2 short years ago that people complained about CC leaving pitchers in too long... The Civale yank was head scratching yesterday. BP thin, Civale doing "ok" and 80ish pitches and you don't let him get out of his own jam? That was one to roll with. You know it is bad when the announcers are surprised when the SP comes out to start the 6th...
  13. My wife and I hit our 30th anniversary next month. We have a child with special needs so it is difficult to get away alone. But I worked it out with my older kids (one out of the house, two in college) to manage the house for a long weekend. I was able to book an AirBnB in the Ozark mountains, a Sight and Sound show, 2 hour Tram Ride, and a dinner cruise... all without her knowing about it. Hopefully, I'm not posting about this in the "Whats Bugging you" thread in a month... 😂
  14. I've not been in Rome specifically, but EU countries tend to be much, much safer from violence compared to US counterparts. I lived in Munich in '97 and wouldn't have blinked if my wife had to take a train at midnight by herself. However, do watch your pockets. Paris, Rome, and a few other cities are known to be heavy on pickpockets. I was in Paris less than 6 hours and caught someone trying to pick my pocket.
  15. Is this a Peacock exclusive movie? I love whodunnit movies so I'd check it out... but I don't have Peacock (and I don't chase subscriptions for a movie sake...
  16. Last I checked, Middleton wasn't on this year's playoff team, so I assumed you were suddenly going to previous years. If you meant pre-trade, it wasn't clear... nor really pertinent to the playoff discussion. So yes, the inclusion of Middleton into the discussion of whether we were winning this year's playoff series with Indiana was confusing.
  17. I didn't realize it was an early game. Interesting to see Priester nearly match Skene's line from yesterday (2 more hits, one less BB and K). That means they are the same, right?
  18. It looked like the PIrate had it easy, but then it bounced weirdly away from him... Hard to predict that.
  19. Sorry, I was talking about this year and you were going on about Middleton and previous year's injuries... I had no idea why. It honestly sounded like a drunk post. If you think a healthy LIllard would've made sense this year, great. You are entitled to that opinion. I thought they looked bad... all year. Giannis and Lillard don't belong together; they look like two good players doing their own thing out there. Doesn't matter if Dame was healthy or not... they weren't beating the Pacers. I guess I take some solace on how well the Pacers continue to play...
  20. The context of my post was that this year with Lillard (i.e. fully healthy), they weren't winning. There really isn't room for opinion there... They won one game, got clobbered in two games and losing the third badly when he went down. I said nothing about Middleton or previous years.
  21. Chourio needs some time at AAA to get straightened out! I guess the positive view is that he hit poorly in Mar-May last year and was on fire the rest of the way (and it is almost June!). Maybe we just give him a vacation each Mar-May?
