  1. Oh, that is a good starting point for @treego14's poem!
  2. Now to get the thread back on track... I did not see Civale's injury before. Our SPs seem a bit snake-bit this year. I take solace in the fact that last year's rotation was pretty wonky the first half of the year and we ended up finding Myers as a result of it.
  3. @markedman5 I never said it was click-bait... I even stated that it was a legit link. I said it was a click-bait MOVE... i.e. leave this site and go to another site to read information. The link itself it fine when you want to give credit to someone for content, but then post what you want to discuss. If you need a place for bookmarks, every browser has that feature available.
  4. Please post more than just a link. While this is a legit link, this tends to be more of a "click-bait" move. You opened a thread... what point are you making?
  5. And crud... my post from yesterday had the double-doink gif in it... but now doesn't! .... time to fix that again!
  6. Your comment was on @LouisEly's comment about a bears fan, so I was just clarifying whose timing miss it was. And the fact that it is still there. 😉
  7. Well, that would be on the site administration... The Twin's site got the Packers and the Cubs' site got the Vikings.
  8. I don't know what people want from Gute frankly. Did I want a DE out of FA? Absolutely. But there were only two guys I'd even consider and one re-signed before FA opened. One of the worst thing you can do in FA is spend big money on mediocrity. We signed two FAs and people said, "Who??". But looking back at Gute's history of FAs (at least the bigger $$ guys), he has been very strong. Jimmy Graham was probably his worst signing and I'd say he was "ok". A lot of money, but he contributed. Billy Turner was probably the next worst but he ended up being a solid add as OT depth and starter. Both Smiths, Amos, McKinney, and Jacobs were excellent FA signings. Turner, P Smith, and Z Smith were FAs that people also said... Who? They worked out well. I'm willing to wait on Hobbs and Banks to see how well they perform before panning the signings. Gute's history is far better than the million FA ranking websites. Packer's are ranked 10th in FA spending this year. That is pretty aggressive considering the team we already have. We aren't like the Bears that failed drafting for the last decade and have to sign everyone and their brother to find talent.
  9. I think the Chicago Bears are the perfect representative of April Fool's day. 😂
  10. I'm guessing it is about the number of Ks rather than being tired. I'd guess he is pressing too hard this year and might need to slow down, calm down, and refocus more than rest. But I do think he should be in the lineup. Maybe drop him down to 5th or 6th for a game or two might make the point?
  11. A bear's logo makes perfect sense for April Fools! 😏
  12. Doh! I was focused on the other end position... I suppose I should've included him there. 😂
  13. I guess it depends on what you mean by "need"... Positions where we have a weak starter (1st-3rd round targets): DT: Wyatt is at a make or break season. He has flashes, but isn't a complete starter. Losing Slaton hurts depth plus there is a realistic thought that it will be Clark's last year puts depth here at a real need. This is where I would bet our 1st round pick goes due to the depth of the position in the draft. DE: We are really leaning on improvements by LVN, Cox, and Enagbare to take pressure off of Gary. This might be our weakest starting position on the team. Really banking on development by LNV and Cox and a year removed from injury for Enagbare. At a minimum, you have to add another body here for depth/competition. This is where I'd have loved to see a vet FA addition instead of another draft pick. Then the other 3 positions here fill our first 3 draft picks. WR: We have a lot of good raw talent, but no one is taking the next step. I think you need to keep adding talent here especially with Watson's injury. Our offensive numbers say we were fine, but it certainly feels like we could greatly improve here. CB: I'm assuming Alexander is gone. Last year, Nixon, Valentine, Bullard, Ballentine, and Stokes were very solid (which might be more a testament to the Defensive scheme and coaching than the players). Hobbes is an upgrade over Ballentine or Stokes. It wouldn't surprise me to see a 1st/2nd round CB, but it also wouldn't surprise me to see one picked later instead for depth only. It would surprise me to see none picked. I think the coaching staff likes the strength of the CB unit more than the fans do. Positions where we could use depth (4th round and beyond): OL: We have 6 starting quality players (maybe 7 depending on Monk). So I don't see a strong "need" here for starters. But we certainly need depth. I doubt we see someone picked early for OL this year, but our favorite 4th rounder T/G is out there somewhere. TE: Kraft had a bust-out year. Musgrave has tons of untapped potential. But really not much beyond that. TE is a draft and develop position, so grabbing a mid-round development TE should be a goal. You have Sims or Swinson available for the dedicated blocking TE role. And not that I want it... but we seem to like the HB types. That might be our TE adder as we don't have that person now. LB: Walker, Cooper, and McDuffie are pretty well locked in as the starters (like it or not) and Hopper is still developing at depth. But we literally have no other off ball LBs on the roster. As a position for ST and for depth, there will be 4+ people added here before TC. At least one draft pick, a few UDFAs, and probably a vet added. Positions where we "seem" fine QB: Not a need with Malik and Sean on the roster, but we've started to create a habit the last couple of years. With fewer late picks this year, I hope we bypass this habit for a year. Maybe sign Rodgers as a backup. S: Any newcomer might be hard pressed to find a spot. McKinney and Williams were wonderful (maybe the best since Butler and Sharper)? Bullard was good at nickel, but has obvious upside still at safety. Both Anderson and Oladapo looked good in limited views also. Five deep at safety, with quality starters and upside development players. Ideal position. RB: For a position that keeps 3-4 players, having Jacobs, Wilson, Lloyd, and Brooks is pretty deep. A few UDFAs should be the only priority. Again we have quality starter, good depth, and upside potential. ST: I keep hoping we find a LS replacement, but not enough to draft one. K and P are strong enough to not bother drafting also. Nice to be back in a position of comfort at K.
  14. I think it is every company because I've had three do the same thing. If you are pretty confident in the bonus every year, you can adjust down your withholdings so that your overall withholdings balance. They will still take nearly 50% of your bonus check, but then under withhold from every other check.
  15. And Drake Maye who wasn't bad. I'm not convinced about McCarthy. though. Sanders also didn't impress me. He looked very confused with any semblance of a pro-defense.
  16. I'm sure I heard Hobbs name when we played LA..er Oak...uh, I mean Las Vegas, but you are correct that he certainly wasn't on my radar nor can I judge how well he will play. But looking at Hobbs' PFF history and other non-PFF metrics, I think it is pretty easy to see he is better than Stokes. Ballentine will be replaced by one of our development CBs from last year, a random vet min guy we will eventually pick up, or a rookie. Not a high bar to replace. Certainly a healthy and happy Jaire changes that picture, but he has been neither one the last two years, so we can't count him in the equation of "improvement from 2024". So I think the CB situation has improved; Not drastically, but better. Another high draft pick and the group could be very good. I didn't say anything about Watson or the WR group; which is clearly going to be worse unless someone makes a MAJOR improvement this year. There has to be a draft pick coming to that group.
  17. Why are we counting Jaire when comparing last year's team? He hasn't had a meaningful contribution for 2 years. Hobbs over Stokes/Ballentine is an improvement. Hobbs over Jaire (of 2024) is an improvement because Jaire didn't do anything. And for those that forgot... the "Ted Thompson" treatment was to sign zero free agents so we get more compensation for draft picks. I'd be surprised if a single Packer fan would've wanted Myers resigned for starter money. At $4M...sure. But I doubt he would've come back at that point. I'm sure he needed a restart.
  18. Sometimes, you just need a name! ...and be 6'5" and 320lbs. Oddly scouting reports have him fitting best as a 3-4 DE since he doesn't anchor well as an NT.
  19. Future potential Tshirt: My NT is Biggers than yours!
  20. Yeah, but you don't have to do it all the time. Drives went no where in the first half and 3ptrs were a struggle all game long. Got to try something. Plus, putting more foul pressure on Goldin. I did think Goldin was gifted a foul at the end to take the lead and then they swallowed the whistle on the other end with similar contact. Evenly called game overall, but that seemed like a bail out.
  21. They posted Crowl early...not sure why they aren't going back given their offensive struggles. Shake it up.
  22. Good job getting to the box and drawing fouls in the second half.
  23. Living in MN, hiring Ben Johnson was highly publicized as someone who would keep the local talent local... but he clearly didn't. He seemed to find some gems, but could rarely field a full legit team. Before him, they went with a big name (Pitino) and that didn't work either. I do enjoy the steady stream of the local boys to UW. 😏
  24. Yes, this is kind of a make-or-break year for Musgrave and he is probably the best chance to amp up our offense this year. We had good production from our Kraft this year, but there is a lot of room to improve our 2 TE sets and passing off that set (seeing how run heavy we can be). Wicks is probably the second-best chance to improve our offense, but unless he goes pro bowl this year, I don't see him moving the needle that much from what we had last year. I don't see how Lloyd will make much of a difference compared to Jacobs and Wilson. Perhaps he gets a few more pass receptions or gadget plays given his speed... but unless there is an injury I don't see him getting many opportunities this year.
