  1. Gen X hates Millennials! 😛 Sorry to hear about the rash. I've heard it isn't fun. My neighbor got it and was ADAMANT that I go get it (I'm Gen X over 50 for me). Seems odd that they would limit the vaccine based on age though...
  2. How much does Rock call anymore? There have been several stretches where he is completely absent. On a related note, I thought I'd like Dillard as the color commentator better than I do.
  3. I'm not watching the game, but I'm not a fan of Chourio in CF. He doesn't look natural or comfortable. I'd rather have Frelick out there and Chourio in RF.
  4. He is no BA, but Levering doesn't bother me. I do agree that he thinks he is funnier than he is.
  5. Rash or Roof?
  6. For that amount it isn't a matter of you could, but if you should. That contract would be a disaster. I love Adames, but he isn't a player that will age well. His defense is dropping off already and his offense is sporadic year to year. He was big in the clubhouse, but is the type of player we need to enjoy while inexpensive and move on when they hit big.
  7. I mean that with his defense slipping, it would've made more sense to have him at 3B and Ortiz/Turang at SS.
  8. The Packers have Clark, Jaire, Jenkins, and Gary that could be cut or extended with each having $24-31M cap hits next year (or savings of $14-20M each)
  9. No, that I don't think it is even close. Yelich has been surprisingly bad this year, but was an All-Star just last year. Even in his worst year as a Brewer, he was just above average hitter (101 OPS+). We may be grossly overpaying Yeli, but he still provides positive offensive contribution. And I'll take that for 3 years. Willy has been very up-and-down with his bat and we all saw the defensive regression start... I'm not sure he would be our starting SS if he was with the Brewers. I didn't want to see Adames leave, but I also didn't want him on a long term contract either. I just don't see that contract ending well. Maybe he comes back as a coach....
  10. The Brewers won the FIRST game of a series instead of just the third.
  11. There is only one answer to this thread: A flash of leather, a cannon's might, Adames arrived, a glorious sight. He anchored shortstop, with flair and with grace, A spark in the lineup, a smile on his face. The Brewers faithful, their hopes took a flight, With Willy at short, everything felt right. But payrolls and budgets, a difficult truth, The cost to retain him, exceeded their youth. With heavy hearts knowing his worth and his name, They bid him farewell, though it wasn't the same. When Counsel departed, a wound sharp and deep, A leader, a legend, the promises to keep. We cheered every move, every tactical call*, Believed in his vision, he stood strong and tall. The coffers were open, the offer was there, To keep him in Milwaukee, beyond all compare. Yet south he did wander, a bitterest sting, To Wrigley's green ivy, the song Cubs will sing. A rival, a foe, where our victories sting, Craig's choice left a silence, where cheers used to ring. *AI generated, so this does not reflect the views of the poster...
  12. In this day and age of not blocking the plate, why would the size of the catcher really matter? Easier pitch framing? FYI, Marco is listed at 1" and 10lbs under Jonathan Lucroy. He is the same height and 5lbs heavier than Craig Biggio.
  13. @Brock Beauchamp I've noticed that this ad has an annoying side effect. I'm on a computer browser and when this ad pops up, I can't scroll until it completes, or I close it. When I close it or when it finishes, it pops me back to the top of the page and I have to scroll back down to where I was reading. Sometimes it pops up consecutively which make is massively annoying.
  14. At U-MN, they have a class on bowling. You show up and bowl and learn to score. My HS gym class did that in 3 classes. Stories like "Clap for Credit" and bowling at U-MN make me wonder why people escalate big universities over smaller colleges. I graduated from MSOE and my easiest classes were Political Science and Calculus I (a repeat from HS). Living in the MSP area, the companies I've worked at are gaga over U-MN grads... then I find out that 1/3rd of their classes are fluff.
  15. Yes, it is the double concussion - especially with the special helmet - that concerns me most about Doubs.
  16. Agreed. While I technically could afford to pay my full income taxes, that doesn't mean I'm not going to take every potential deduction I can to keep more money in my pocket. His production I was quoting (2.4 bWAR) is right on his yearly average (2.3). He was ice cold early, so his current red-hot streak is balanced. And you are right about other players, but they have to be available for trade and there is the cost of the trade. If a team is willing to open the pocketbook, they can give up lesser prospects to get a player. No one is saying we are getting a top 100 prospect back for him. But there is no way this is even close to a JBJ situation.
  17. At least the SOS projections I've seen recently were based on "projected" schedules. Previously I thought they were based on last year's schedule. All of it is guessing, but seems like this makes a touch more sense. This whole year is basically going to come down to what Love does. Can he look like the late 2023 Love? Or does he plateau at 2024 Love? I think (hope?) that if the news articles are correct and he wants to lower his cap number next year to avoid being an obvious casualty that they would add 1 or 2 years to the contract. While guards do get more $$ on average than centers (which is kind of odd when you think about it), if Jenkins can reclaim his pro-bowl form at center instead of the slightly-above-average guard performance of the last couple of years, he can come out ahead anyway.
  18. No one can be a great starting pitcher with only two pitches.... I do think that Henderson is better off with a third pitch and I'd assume the main reason for the Brewers sending him down the first time, but it isn't like it can't be done.
  19. Packer's release promo for their schedule reveal started to approach the level of the infamous Brewer's Dumb and Dumber video. Not nearly as funny, but still showing a fun side of the team.
  20. Quite literally in the article you listed: "I think he's open to it," Stenavich said. "The conversations that we've had with him, yeah, he's got a lot of experience there and he was open to it, excited about it. So, ready to go." Everything I've read, this is more about next year's cap number which is higher than all OL except three LTs. Of course, nothing from Jenkins himself yet... They have one of the easiest first half schedules, but that is going to be a challenging first two games. I do like that it gets a bit easier so that offense can gel. The WR usage evolution should be interesting to watch from game 1 to game 17. Who moves up and who moves down? A couple other interesting tidbits not discussed much here: Jaire posted on Facebook "Back like I never left" and a few other 'positive Packer' posts with pictures (including one with him and MLF). But nothing in the news media. And yes, it looks like a legit FB account. Hafley has discussed using more 3-4 fronts this year than last. I do think our personnel fits that front better. Oliver and Moss fit better as 3-4 OLBs. Walker and Cooper as MLBs. LVN and Barryn can shift inside during obvious passing downs.
  21. So we get Gasser healthy and we have the best two pitchers in Brewer's history pitching at the same time! But yes, it is obvious Henderson needs to stay. i'm guessing they wanted him at AAA to work on his third pitch, but Fastball Freddie eventually added to his arsenal at the MLB level. I still say the plan to get Priester was for: A short-term MLB SP stop-gap now. A long-term AAA project to correct a few items. But he hasn't been terrible at the MLB level either. He had back-to-back stinkers against the Cubs and Cardinals (which can understandably produce extra Brewer fan angst), but the other 5 starts have only given up 0-2 ER. He and Tobias seems to have similar issues this year... decent results, but struggling with control
