With one out, slow runner and the CF having the ball before Shaw hit third base it was a complete mistake by Sedar. Two outs different story. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
To me Garza has been lucky to keep us in games. Woodruff should be starting for him. I am not sure Chacin would be any better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am a big believer in metrics/analytics but there is no way anyone can tell me Broxton is a "worse outfielder" than Santana or Braun. Guy is a good defensive CF. I think his place is a 4th OF going forward. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well advance metrics like 3rd order wins etc had the Cubs still with great odds of winning the division. Not sure how much Contreras's loss changes the math, but it is a huge hit for them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
With Contreras going on DL and likely out until end of September, I wonder if Sterns takes a more aggressive approach to obtaining a 2b replacement. The division is wide open now.
Well I agree with most what you said above, but if Suter peripherals keep up you got to keep him in the rotation. I was a big doubter of Suter, but I have to admit I am starting to come around on him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why not just claim him if he gets to the Brewers? Detroit gets out of contract, Brewers get better at 2b without giving up a prospect. Everybody wins lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Harder threw 53 last night and looked great probably couldn't go more than 75 at most if he were to start on his next start. Woodruff threw 69 pitches in 5ip of shutout ball in Vegas. One of these two get the start? Personally I feel Guerra needs to work out his issues not on the MLB roster during a pennant race. I feel like he is not giving the team a very good chance to win.
For the guys who follow the minors much more than I do. Do any of our minor league power outfielders (Coulter, Roache, Santana or someone else) have a chance to transition to 3b or at least 1b in the near future?
IMO they only way they can truly compete is to get an Ace. I believe the offense will be fine provided they find a decent 3b. Keep Lind, Gomez, Lucroy and sign Price for example which makes Peralta Fiers Jungmann Nelson slot down. They would be very competitive in 2016. Of course I doubt they could sign Price and I think the future of the club would be hurt by not getting young players for expiring contracts.
Look at the bright side maybe Morneau gets a big hit and beats the Cardinals for a game or two?? It would have have been nice to add him to lineup but not at the cost of Gennet or Nelson.
My guess is that the Brewers are showcasing Scooter for a trade? Does not make sense otherwise. Weeks needs to play to be worth anything to the team or a trade. Dont see the Brewers trading Weeks with his contract and current production.
Record: 88-74 Division: 2nd in division to Reds Wild Card: First Wild Card Home playoff game! All-Stars: Braun, Weeks, Ramirez, Gomez, Lucroy Surprises: Peralta Rookie of the Year (or Rookie Pitcher of the Year)
I highly doubt Hart will be resigned long term. Microfracture of a knee in a guy turning 30 does not bode well long term. Don't know if Hart wold resign for 3 years or less. I like Gomez. Unless Shafer can get on base don't know if I would turn the reigns over to him.
The reason why ACL's "recovery" are quicker in baseball is simply because it is a non-contact sport. The stresses on the knee in baseball are not as demanding as other sports.
I wouldn't too much stock into the FA plans are for the off season as well. Its not like Melvin is going to say we are going after some other free agent to be. No one knows how the market will play out. I am pretty sure they will sign a free agent pitcher. I think it is too risky to rely of 3 or 4 rookies for a rotation on a team that wants to contend. They also could make a trade for an ace again.
