  1. You can't stop Kratz, you can only hope to contain him (or plunk him)

  3. Looks like this is best season, considering it is in the PCL.
  4. I don't think the Astros will be in a hurry to trade with the Brewers anytime soon.

  6. Then the second time through it only takes Anderson 10-11 pitches for #1-#3 in the lineup.
  7. Day off tomorrow - I would think that Anderson is on pace for five innings, eh?

  9. Blame the defense on Rock. He's the one that said the Brewers had the best defense in the majors at the beginning of the telecast.
  10. Yeah add Nick Ramirez to the staff and you have another guy you can bring up and down.
  11. I think you are being too generous if you think there will be no complaints even with that record. We will not be winning by enough style points or he let the game get too close before pulling the pitcher.....
  12. We don't kill lefties like we used to. In fact we bat worse against lefties this year. We OPS .100 better against righties. Sure, if you think the Santana and Braun we had in Apr-May will be the same the entire season. If they revert back to what they should be doing ... we still want to face lefties. I have no idea who else has started as a lefty lately, but I remember Matz shutting us down about a week ago. And that is when everybody else in the league was teeing off.

  14. Not saying the plan is to trade him, but if he starts out hot at AA his stock goes flying through the roof compared to where he is now. It would take away the last big hurdle in the usual prospect development, proving it at AA. Hiura still has to prove to be able to play the field daily to boot. But, age 21 in AA sounds much better than 21 in A+.
  15. Agree. I would do Archer deal only if we did the Realmuto deal, which is making the playoffs that much closer to certainty. If we got the Archer that was pitching in May (and not April), for the rest of the year, that would definitely put the NL on notice.
  16. Vogt hurt his shoulder in Spring Training. Hard to blame Stearns for that. If healthy, he would have been nice to have in a timeshare with Pina right now. For me, no. He just wasn’t good enough defensively. I could not believe that the Cardinals first caught stealing was just the other day. Really shows that teams are not running as much, and it has become much less of a needed skill than framing, pitch calling, blocking.
  17. It obviously depends on the return. Stearns would take heat because, chances are we are not going to be able to match up major league talent for major league talent, so you are trading him for minor leaguers while in a pennant chase. So you have to get overpaid for him, as the offense will take a hit. We would still have one extra corner OF/1B when everyone is healthy and Choi if Thames gets injured.
  18. Yeah, blaming Stearns for not selling high on Santana is ludicrous. It sure sounded like he was on the trading block and no one came a calling. We should blame Stearns for not trading Bandy for Archer straight up while we are at it (if we are going to make up trades that should have happened). I give Stearns credit for not trading just to make a trade when it looked like we were overfull of corner OF/1B. But betting on Villar instead of Gennett cost them the playoffs last year and is still costing them this year. And yes, I know he plays in the bandbox, but equalizing for that he is still a big step up.
  19. Carpenter threw to 2nd and Munoz was dreaming. Kind of a fail on Carpenter too. Why play hero to get the guy at 2nd? Just get the 2nd out. He had the runner out if Munoz was on the bag. Keep the runner out of scoring position and Guerra is sitting on first and running. Seems like automatic go there if you can play to me. I assume he saw the runner first and was committing to throwing before he saw where Munoz was. I see what Munoz saw too, was that there was nobody guarding third, so if the play went to first, Kratz could have just kept going to 3b. So Munoz took a step that way and then figured out where he should go.
  20. I assume you mean physically looks like a catcher. Because so far I have been impressed with play. 2-5 HR, HBP, with two line drive outs. Keeping alive, and driving up the pitch count, once he fell behind on the bad strike call by the ump.
